Any Wishers doing the OKC Memorial Marathon?

Hi, everybody. Is anyone else thinking of doing the OKC Memorial Marathon? Katwalks (Kathy) and I are planning to do the half. It is in Downtown Oklahoma City and begins at the Memorial for the Oklahoma City bombing. The race is on April 27.

My DSis lives in Choctaw and I was seriously considering this before I semi-committed to the Minnie. :rolleyes: My Sis is just starting walking again and we are hoping to be able to do the half in 2009. Have you done it before?

Princessrunner, I haven't done it. But it is VERY walker friendly. The half has traffic control for 6 hours, but they will continue to provide aid after the 6 hours! It is a chip race and they have a wonderful web site. Including the map, hotel discounts, etc! http://www.okcmarathon.com/

Although I live in Texas, I am only a couple hours from OKC. We do a lot of our "Big City" shopping there.

I have visited the web site and my DSis says it is a BIG event with lots of publicity and huge attendance for cheering crowds. :cheer2: Let me know how you liked it. We went to OK for the last 6 years for gymnastics camp at OU in June and it is just way too hot for me being a far north girl. :cold: Hoping that April is not quite that bad!!!! :scared: GOOD LUCK!! :woohoo:

I will. I am really looking forward to this one. I think you would find the weather very pleasant that time of year, most likely in the 60's for temperature and very little humidity.

A good friend of mine did this last year. If we don't do the Minnie, we (she and I) might do the OKC Memorial half.

Oh, Steff, this is on my "HOPE to do" list!! OKC in April is very nice. I lived there for two years..oh, so maybe I should say..For the two years I lived there, April was very nice. I am not committing to any future events, though! If you do this, PLEASE tell us all about it!! :goodvibes
