I have read in other posts that the Polynesian will do nice things for you for special occassions (ex...birthday cakes and hats). Is this only for concierge guests? My husband and I will be celebrating our anniversary during our stay at the Polynesian but we could only afford a GV room, non concierge. Should we still mention at check-in that it is our anniversary?

They do these things for all the guests most of the time. Just make sure they know before you get there.

We were in a garden view for our honeymoon and didnt get anything...then again, we didnt push the subject that it was our honeymoon. I believe it was noted on the reservation though.

We are usually there at Polynesian concierge for my husband's birthday and they never do anything. Last year we stayed at AKL concierge. His birthday was the day after we checked in. We got home over a week later to a "happy birthday" message for him on our machine from the AKL concierge staff.

We just got back from Poly LV, and for my son's 1st birthday, which I mentioned and was noted on the ressie, we received balloons, hats and a cake the first night we were there. Three years ago, we stayed one night for our anniversary, and got a picture frame.

I have better luck with birthday stuff when I am not expecting it. I happen to mention that we were going to Cinderella's for dinner for my DD Bday and they sent a cake to our room. I was just makeing conversation with the housekeeper. She muct have had tem send the cake. I never told anyone else. We went once to celbrate our anniversary and I told them when I made the reservation, they didn't do anything special. I think it may be who you tell.

We just returned from a visit to the Poly for my DDs 4th birthday and my 35th while there. I sent a fax prior to our arrival with room requests and mentioned the 2 occassions and upon check-in I let them know that my DDs birthday was the next morning. Nothing was done, but our room requests were met. I figured that beat nothing, but have to admit that I was a little disappointed. We still had a good trip, though.

We received hats, confetti, party blowers, 2 cakes(we were there with 2 other families), balloons and a birthday card when we were at the Poly in August. They did all this the day after dd's 9th birthday. We were very surprised to hear a knock at the door and have someone standing there with all the party stuff! My dd thought it was the best!
