Did anyone else get the letter stating Obopay's new terms? If you don't add money to your account they are now charging a "Monthly Maintenance Fee" of $4.95 per month :scared1: I cancelled mine today.

I got the letter but kinda glazed over it. I have never used it or added to it, so I guess my 5 bucks is going down the drain. No matter, free money in and out is still not bad!

You'd better cancel it or they will charge you $4.95 for every month you don't add money to it. You're money may still be there since the new terms don't start until November 27.
I got in when they were giving $25. I went to the Disney Store Saturday after I got the letter and bought a $25 GC. When I got home I called Obopay and cancelled.

I got it but since I used my card and there is nothing on it - and I don't plan on using it again is there a way they can charge you? I am thinking no.

I only have 5 bucks on it, that was all I got when I opened it. But I'll see if there is anything I need. I never got a card or anything.

I think they can. I know lots of credit cards charge an annual fee whether you use it or not. This will be a $4.95 monthly fee! If you add money to it the fee will be waived.

Remember you had to give you ssn or link to a bank account in order to get the card. I think they can continue to charge you if you have the account open. I wouldn't risk it. I canceled mine the other day by contacting them on their website. They also have a live chat help line that is open bankers hours. It took a couple of days but my account was closed.

Thanks

Go to their site, sign in, and use the support area...you end up sending a request to them and it says they will reply in a day.
Though someone from SR did some sort of chat with them, and they cancelled it then, but I don't know how to get to the chat.

I cancelled on Tuesday and asked for a cancellation #. I was told I'd get an email. No email yet so I called 1-888-862-6729 (# on website and in mailing info)again to request my email. The number has been disconnected! The other # on the website justs allows you to leave a recorded message. It does not allow you to talk to anyone.

Is the fee just for Obopay MasterCard? Or is it for every Obopay account?

My letter said...
Re: Important Changes to the Obopay Prepaid Mastercard Term and Conditions effective on November 27, 2007.
I don't know about other Obopay accounts. You'll probably get a letter if yours is involved. I'd keep an eye ou for it.
