View Full Version : "Fill in the Gaps" Swap Signups - Due January 10 - CLOSED
New England Eeyore
11-05-2007, 03:10 PM
Okay this was a bit of a bear. Here’s how I did it – rather than a million tiny groups, I went with more broad groups. For those of you who sent longer lists, they are very similar to each other and to mine, so I have a feeling our gaps are very similar and this will work out nicely.
There are a few non-attraction specific miscellaneous groups – Cooling Off, Star Wars, Kid-specific, Transportation general and Monorail specific.
Then I made 2 groups per park (can add more if needed – MK may need more groups than the others) for “Under-represented” attractions for each park – one attraction per person with 5 people per group. I gave a suggestion of attractions that came up from different people but feel free to choose others. I thought this would be the easiest way to get the most people the most variety of topics. Then there’s a group for shows and parades.
I included Disneyland Specific and Retired attractions groups if the interest is there. (Retired may be tricky if people have different needs – I’ll take feedback on that) And then there’s a special group at the end. :)
I skipped characters, resorts and restaurants – those will be covered in upcoming swaps.
I did put a few people in groups they expressed interest in. Please let me know if you need to be removed from any of those.
Once the number of groups is finalized, I will rename them with letters/numbers to make your labeling easier.
Check-in dates will be :
November 30
December 13
December 27
Mail By Date: January 3
Due Date: January 10
Step 1 – Choose your topic. You may sign up for as many groups as you’d like. These are single element groups – choose one element from the list below. You do not need to tell me your specific elements unless it is a single topic group.
Step 2 - PM me with your DIS name, name, home address, email address, and phone numbers. Email and phone numbers will only be used to follow up if I have not heard from you. Check the progress thread for your status - it will be updated with check-in, ship info and received info. I will also provide my email address and phone number to all participants in case you need to reach me.
Step 3 – After you create your items, package them individually in Ziploc bags and place all of your bags for each group in it’s own, larger (gallon size) Ziploc bag. Please be sure to package each group separately. Include your name, DIS name and group number on each larger bag. Include return postage for whichever method you prefer. If you want delivery confirmation, don't forget to send in the extra money for that as well as a completed d/c slip. Please don’t send metered or click-it/ship-it postage – some hostesses have had issues with these.
Step 4 – Check in on the progress thread regularly. Check the thread for updates, receipt and shipping info. If I have not heard from you within a few days of the December 13 check-in, I will angel your spot.
Step 5 – PM me if you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.
Please, no hand lettering on any items. You may use computer fonts, rub-ons, stamps, die cut letters, etc. Embellished means using brads, eyelets, charms, ribbon, 3D stickers (matted stickers are ok, too), clip art, or embossing. All elements should be double-matted and embellished unless otherwise noted!!
~~~~Element List ~~~~~
1 Topper – 8 inch long by 2 inch wide
2 Journaling Boxes--minimum 3" x 4" space for writing
4 embellished squares (or other shape)--largest mat should be no larger than 2"
2 Photo Frames--for a 4 x 6 photo & the Sizzix dies are ok (you need to crop a bit from the photo to use these.) Two layers on the frame would make the photo seem double matted.
2 Photo Mats--for a 4 x 6 photo without cropping. Again, two layers as the photo sits on top of these.
2 Tags--no smaller than 2 x 3 and larger is fine; double matted PLUS fiber/ribbon and/or eyelet/brad in the hole.
1 Tag and 2 squares (or other shapes) – same rules as above
2 Slide Mounts--cardstock or actual slide mounts; must be embellished but not double matted, and the Sizzix dies are fine
1 Journaling Box n Tag--one journal box with matching tag (see details above)
1 Mini File folder--embellished but need not be double-matted
1 Library Pocket and Tag--embellished but need not be double-matted
1 Signage/Bookmark: 2x6, double matted and embellished
1 Shaker Box
1 Paper Piecing
4 Bottle Caps
1 License Plate
Altered Paper Clips: 3 large size ones
1 Matted Poem/Song/Lyric--text area must be no smaller than 2 1/2 by 3 ˝
(I’m also open to other elements if people have requests.)
Special Disneyland Paris Groups:
MazdaUK (and Princess Jayne!) is looking for things she can use for Disneyland Paris, so I thought we could easily do a group for her of rides that are more or less the same in both countries. (Obviously don’t choose a topper if the name is different.) She’s such a good sport at joining swaps even though her stateside trips are not as frequent as she’d like, so I though this would be a nice way for her to increase her stash for her DLP trips.
Choose 1 out of the following:
Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril (DL and MGM titles vary here), Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast (Buzz Lightyear’s SpaceRanger Spin here), Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan’s Flight, Mad Hatter’s Teacups (Mad Tea Party here), It’s a Small World, Dumbo, Flying Carpet over Agrabah (Magic Carpets of Aladdin here), Rock and Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Studio Tram Tour (Backlot Tour here), Moteurs-Action Stunt Show (Lights Motor Action here)
Group Q: Special "Help our UK friends" group 1: - FULL
2. NewEnglandEeyore – Space Mountain
3. rlovew - Rock and Roller Coaster
4. Michellepooh - It's a Small World
Mazda - in DLP is Captain Hook's ship and Skull rock part of adventure isle? If i did adventure isle for the 2nd DLP group i could use skull rock and/or the ship to embellish ( i hope that made sense!!!!)
Also - are we making one element for this swap or two? x
MazdaUK
11-06-2007, 09:02 AM
I can't remember :blush: But using those things for embellishment anyway sounds good :thumbsup2 we're avoiding toppers for the DLP groups so our kind friends across the water can use their elements too :thumbsup2
I so need these kinds of things. I'm thrilled to get the chance to join.
Transport General -- I'd like to take the last spot (we have WAY too many pictures on the transports)
Under Rep MK -- TTA (DD's fave ride at MK -- don't ask why, who knows?)
Under Rep Ep -- Voices of Liberty (this was hard b/c it's DD's fave park after MK and there's never enough EP stuff)
MGM -- Fantasmic!
I think that's it. I'll look again later at the lists to see if there are other spots I'd like to do.
Hi there..I'd like to sign up for the ones already signed up for plus:
MGM2, AK1, Parades, Disneyland, Epcot 1, MK 4, Kid specific, monorail and cooling off (which I think I'm in already!) I have no idea what I'm doing...will try and think and post later! Cool!
MGM - beauty and the beast (if this proves too hard I may change to a "main street look with the hat")
AK - Finding Nemo
Parades - either dream along with Mickey
Disneyland- autopia
Epcot - Miyuki candy maker
MK - dumbo (or aladdin)
Kid specific - 1st haircut
Monorail - something to do with sitting up front with the driver
Cooling off - no idea yet...do we have a color theme for that group?? Since the elements may all be on the same 2 page LO (or maybe not??) it may be nice for the elements to match - just throwing that out there....
I really need to get my printer to work!
Being a serious swap addict, could I please be added to these groups:
MGM - I was thinking of doing a general, movie type of element that can be used for all of the completely random pictures I take in that park.
Disneyland - not sure on a topic yet. Have any of the DL people eaten at Blue Bayou? or maybe New Orleans Square.
Those in the DLR group -- would you like Sleeping Beauty's castle? Or New Orleans Square? I would do Aladdin's Oasis, but I have no good ideas on that one. I also considered (and would love to do) the Fantasy Faire, but I don't know if it's still a show, etc.
But I want to do something y'all would want stuff for.
Hey! Jango is working on his TTA tags and wanted to make sure this is correct:
Paging Mr. Morrow. Mr. Tom Morrow.
Your party from Saturn has arrived.
Please give them a ring.
It seems right to me, but I live with the boy. :rotfl: He could have been saying it wrong all the time.
Thanks!
I am a dork! I know it.
That being said, I have my Star Wars items done as well as my Kids group ones. Jango's MK (TTA) ones are almost done. I was so excited about this one. So far everything looks super cute (if I do say so myself...) I haven't the foggiest idea (and yes, that is the technical term) for what to do with Tom Sawyer Island. I'm sure I'll come up with something... :)
Yes. That was one idea I did have. But, I thought that the island had very little to do with painting and a lot to do with caves and exploring and stuff like that. Maybe I'll make some signage. I'll still thinking. We have 2 months, so I'm not too worried...yet. The calendar swap on the other hand...
BUT...if you are one of the first people on the Island, there are three brushes hidden and if you find one of the paintbrushes you get a fastpass for a ride of your choice.
Nope, it's true. I found a paintbrush with my Dad when I was their last year, but I didn't take it, since I was down their for 3 weeks, not like I needed a FP. When we came back, a family was taking one to the CM. He offered them either a Splash or BTMRR FP, so I don't know if it is any FP, but it is definitely, "find a paintbrush, get a FP." I did take a picture of the hidden paintbrush though.
I read about it someone's trip report, so I am probably wrong about the any ride part. I myself am perfectly content to just go get a fastpass the normal way, but finding something hidden would be fun.
PS thanks for thinking I am so creative.
I've been there 15 times and never heard of this little gem. I am so going to Tom Sawyer Island first next time I am there! Thanks for the heads up. Anyway, I'm still thinking...
Unless it changed, the island opens an hour after the rest of the part does.
I placed a bid on a set of four monorail stickers.
Then I sent a message asking if she would have more of these to finish a project (this one) and not only did she not answer my question, she canceled my bid and blocked me! I have never had a bid canceled. I can't believe someone would block me. Talk about being p.o.ed.
Anyway, have to come up with some other idea for the monorail elements.
Okay, I've got the latest additions and I've closed this one out. The progress thread will go up tomorrow. Make sure you double check your groups - most are groups of 5 but there are a few smaller groups.
Way to go on the progress, Mickster and Jango!
Looking forward to seeing everyone's creations!!
Jango would like to change his elements to a journal box and tag. Thanks! We're almost all done here. I came up with a cute idea for Tom Sawyer. Phew...
