Disney Gift Cards to pay for DDP ???

We're going down in a just 2 short weeks. YES!!!!

I called Disney Dining to inquire about paying for our DDP with Disney gift cards. We get them from my SIL and they get a break on their kids school tuition. Anyway, we're staying at SSR, we're DVC members. Disney Dining had NO CLUE and sent us to a reservationist. She kept asking for a confirmation number. I gave her the one for the resort and said that didn't help. I told her, that DVC MS, said we would have to purchase DDP on arrival. I think that is where in lies the confusion.

So, my question is anyone have any experience paying for DDP with a Disney Gift card???

Whenever we stay DVC, we just let DVC ressie's know before we arrive that we will be purchasing the dining plan for x amount of people (adults/children). When we check in, I have been able to use the disney gift card to purchase. Never a problem.....we are actually headed down to the World this Friday night and will again be paying for the dining plan with my disney gift cards.

Just call DVC reservations and have them note on your reservation that you will be purchasing dining plan. Good Luck, it is an easy process.

It sounds like you called Disney Dining regarding payment. They make ADRs, and probably don't take payments specifically towards the DDP, esp for a DVC res. :confused: I would think the DVC MS is who you needed to speak with, since it is a DVC res. Correct? :confused3 I don't think a Disney reservationist can help with DVC res'. But could be wrong, as I never have booked as a DVC-er.

Just reinterating what princessgirl stated. I apply Disney gift cards (and cash) to my reservation the minute I check in everytime I go. I ask for them to be applied to the Dining Plan and the remaining credit applied to my reservation. I rent reservations, and have always had the dining plan. Just make sure you get a print out of the credit being applied to your reservation. Enjoy and no worries!

I called SSR regarding this exact question and I was told that the only way to pay for the DDP was with cash or credit card. Are you positive you can pay with Disney Gift Cards?

OK, I just got off the phone with Christina at Member Services. She put me on hold while she checked payment options and came back and told me that they accept personal checks, visa, cash and Disney gift cards for payment!!! This is not what I was told by the front desk though. I am going to take her word for it and go purchase a gift card today so that I can get the Disney Visa Rewards Points before we go in 3 weeks!!!

I just got off the phone with Roxanne at MS. She told me no worries with the gift card. When you/we check in, have the gift card applied towards the room and then have the dining plan which is charged to the room, paid by the gift cards.


Bottom line, no worries with the gift card, it'll work, just make sure to do in upon checking in.
