Pictures!! Here it is... http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AaN3DJi5ZMlG3Y

You don't need to belong to shutterfly to see the pictures. Just click view pictures and you'll see them. :)

Thanks again everyone! I also inserted a few blanks for Susie to add pages if she'd like (although, it is pretty full...). In addition, I used one of Mazda's layouts as the front and last page. Hope that is ok. :)

Hi everyone!!! As you know one of our fellow scrappers, SusieStone had a family crisis on Halloween. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1626890
I would like to host a memorial page creation-bee like the baby books we did for PatchChild, MyLittlePiglet and jennyL.

The idea is to create a two-page layout for your theme. You may chose as many themes as you would like. If you think of more ideas, post them..and I will add them to the list.. there can be numerous general pages so sign up for whatever you would like. We will be making a 2- page layout for an 8X8album.

Everyone will send their creations to me and I will put all the pages into an album and send them on to Susie and her son.

DUE DATE FOR THE LAYOUTS TO BE RECEIVED IS DECEMEMBER 15. This will give me time to get them into the album and to Susie and her son before the the holidays!

Also please include a tag 2 x 3 in size embellished for the sign- in pocket. This tag should have your name, your DIS name, and what pages you created.

Please post here on your status and when you mail. I will be monitoring this routinely in case there are issues or problems.

Here is a list of ideas, please feel free to suggest others, and who is completing these pages.

We have (suggested by Susie:)) the following themes. Feel free to come up with your own themes, too.

Purple = Pages received. Thanks!

Anything else you can think of?

I just got a request to make the pages coordinate (which I love, by the way...the book will look awesome!) Anyway, I was thinking light blue, cream and chocolate brown. Masculine colors, but with a softer touch. I'm sure there are bazzill colors I could require, but I can't get bazzill reliably, so I'm going with Light blue, cream and chocolate brown. Interpret that as you will.

I am pretty sure, since Stone is 6, that he is a Tiger scout. He would wear a dark blue shirt with an orange neckerchief. :)

I was almost done with the soccer pages, but my sweet little DS decide to clean off his brother's table with mineral spirits. I can't stand the smell of that stuff. Give me such a headache. Even with the windows open and a candle going, the smell isn't gone. Hoping to finish up tomorrow.

Hey, were did you get ice cream from?

Have you not seen my scrap room?
I have more different kinds of paper than Hobby Lobby does. :rotfl:

I just happened to already have the perfect paper and my soccer embellishments just happened to match the creme paper.

Now, my Christmas carols, that's a different story. Had to go buy paper for that one.

Sorry girls

I had to take a peek

I am overwhelmed.

How great is this.

It is stunning.

I saw a question about scouts and more than one layout. THat is great. They were the number one Popcorn sellers in our pack and Virg had been working at football concession stands at ECU football (our local college) to raise money as our fundraiser. Also at the last time we went to CHurch of Open Door, we also had dinner afterwards.

In September for Stone's birthday, his dad and I bought him a custom skateboard and he would take him to the indoor skateboard park weekly.

He was able to go to his last birthday party in September at the ice skating rink.

I have never taken my son to a movie at the theatre...that was always ther "thing".

Another thing they always did together was stop at a store and get a drink on the way back hom to my house and it would be one of the little glass botle Cokes.

You girls are the absolute BEST
I Love each and every one of you

What is everyone doing for their layouts? Photomats? Topper? Etc.?

I have all my supplies ready and I want to send some nice things in.

Are you including a 4x6 photo mat? I was thinking of just cutting the paper down but not sticking things together. I am not sure what size photos Suzie will be using.

Is someone doing a duck hunting page? I think Suzie mentioned something about Duck Hunting and I found some nice stickers.

Sorry about all the questions. . .

MazdaUK
11-07-2007, 09:31 AM
I'm going to make up the pages with paper and include a couple of photo mats with cream on top so they can be used for journalling instead, or possibly (*** I've got to spread my stuff around to visualise it) do up a coule of sets of elements like we do for "colour" swaps so Susie can use what she needs or move things around. I think I've got some ribbons in the right colours, so I might pack those separately, as Susie does such lovely sewn elements she might want to apply those herself. I've got to build it and see how it hangs, IYSWIM

How you make your page is totally up to you. I didn't use mats on the pages that I did for the baby books, but that doesn't mean you can't or that Susie will use them as mats. Do want you are inspired to do! Check the link in the OP and you'll see some of the stuff that others have done. Some have mats, some don't. Your call. (Of course, that is what makes it so darn hard...)

No duck hunting page. I don't think they actually went duck hunting yet, but do the page anyway. Susie could journal about how that was the plan and how much it meant to Virgil. That would be really a nice idea. (Good one!) (Can I put you down for that one?)

I have an idea to include a few more pages or me to work on ,,,,,,,and it will become a more complete daddy and Stone event.

Like a few wedding pics, preg, pic(there's 2 from Disney with DH fav Balloo) and then the birth and a few thoughout the short 5 years we had our son. I plan on doing that limitely.

I will still do my regular big books to get going amd try to get caught up on.

But this way, this book will give him something of just his ...since the family chunked his dad's cloths before the Probate was begun will filed, and a portion of the estate contects have been destroyed. My mom and aunt were to make a quilt with the items and some of them would have been placed as mat for pictures for the picutres that they match.

All pray for me and I am sorry I am doing so much whining.

I appreciate everything each one of ou hve done for me, the cards, emails, IMs, cards for my use by Mickster and Hamppycampers as well as the beautiful music box. But hopefully, each one of you have hugged a dear one an extra time for me....it is so lonely when you can't do it.

If you have anything unsaid, or any common ground that needs to be met at - or a bridge that needs to be repaired - I beg you to do it.

mommy2mrb
11-10-2007, 08:32 AM
Whine away my dear, you are entitled and we are hear to listen.

I can't believe how awful they are treating you and Stone, have they no compassion for a little boy? Santa will be leaving coal in their stockings this year!

Just keep that little guy close to you and you will keep the memories of his daddy alive for him, no matter what else happens with your IL's.

AlexWyattMommy
11-10-2007, 08:39 AM
I just don't get it?
Why are they going out of the way to hurt the little boy of the person they were supposed to love?
Document, document, document.
Because these are the same kind of people who when they do remember that little boy is all that remains of the person they were supposed to love will come after him next. But you already know that, don't you?
I really wish I wish I was closer so I could run interference for you.

Mickster
11-10-2007, 09:49 AM
I love those additions. Did you take pictures of trick or treating? Would you want them to be included (or is that too much to think about right now??) I'll make the updates!

P and PD to you and Stone. I'm sorry you are going through this. My MIL told me once this about families: Sometimes you love them with all your heart and sometimes that make you want to scream - into your pillow. I know that is true right now with my family. I can only imagine yours. We're here for you. Vent away!

Keep whining! We can take it, and if you get it out of your system you can be strong for Stone. I know God gives us only what we can bear, but sometimes I think the scales weigh a little heavier than He thinks. Extra  for you both.

Yes, we took pictures trick or treating and his dad had a disposable cam he was taking pics with and I just haven't had the strength to develop it yet.

I plan on doing a little special explosion type album or something like that just for Halloween this year. I actually belong to a monthly club - trasure box club and she uses the back and front of paper to end up making 20 8 X 8 pages in nothing flat. The September package was awesome Halloween stuff.......I think right now for me some little projects are better than overhwhelming ones.

The last picure of Virgil alive is him standing in my drive with our Little Jack Sparrow - hopefully, Stone can wear that same costume at the Priate and Princess Party in january.

forgive typos please

I know it isn't necessary, but you never know when someone has a good idea or embellishment for a topic. Any page made by someone else, is one less that you have to make, right?

Anywho...AWM - your pages came today. So pretty! Thanks for the goody...I already know where I'm going to use it... :)

Hey Susie, they can toss everything that belonged to Virgil in the trash because you have the best thing ever from him, and that's Stone, and no one can change that.

You have the most precious gift ever. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I have completed my pages.

I haven't done anything like this, so I am not sure how we do the sign in tag.

Can it be neatly hand lettered? (printing?) Or should we use a computer and print it out that way?

Also, I did the pages I signed up for and I also made a few blank photo mats and journal boxes. They are chalked.

I used Bazzill paper. Chocolate brown, a light tan and light blue, I used a cream colored paper without texture for the Journal boxes and tags. I used a couple different pattern papers one in a baseball theme and one for the Duck Hunting Pages.

If everything sounds good, than I can probably mail it out on Wednesday Morning when I have both kids in school.

You can hand write - that is totally fine. But, if you want to print, also totally fine. Up to you.

The colors and stuff sounds perfect. Don't get too stressed about it. I'm sure it will be wonderful! Thanks for making your pages. :)

I am glad it sounds good. It's important to me to do a nice job. I have a few things from Swaps with Susie and she makes some really nice stuff.
I bet the book will be beautiful, the color scheme is gorgeous and the book will be filled with friendship and love.

Susie, I hope you are hanging in there. How is Stone doing?
If there is anything else you need for the book let me know.

Stone is doing amazingly well. He has his moments. But we all do even under normal circumstances. I have always heard about a peace that passes all understanding and I never had it until October 31 and am so thankful that I have been blessed with it. I have my crying times and I get upset but for selfish reasons - I miss him and I wish my son had a dad - wonder what I will do for Christmas. But when I get out of my pity party....I realize that Virgil is with his Lord (how could it get better), my son has the ultimate Father in his life and what CHRISTmas is really about.

After that, things get easier.

I have been able to turn more cheeks than I knew I had.

Thanks for participating and checking on me.

can i ask a question????
for those of you that made or are making pages, what size do you make the photo mat? is it for a 4X6 pic? because that does not leave a lot of room left on the page right? i'm having a creative block here.....
any help????

thanks

AlexWyattMommy
11-13-2007, 07:40 PM
For all the books I've done before, I've done a mix.
Some just a single 4x6 double mat with a topper, 2 3x5 double mats, 3 wallet size double mats and my first attempt I don't know what I did, because I was just following the diagram that came with the paper pack. They were weird sized.

Dreamer & Wisher
11-13-2007, 08:46 PM
I did two page spreads, I made big 4x6 photo mats and embellished them.

I also made a few tags and I did do a layout with two smaller mats on one side and a larger photo mat on the opposite page. Then a made a few extra photo mats and journal boxes. They aren't mounted on the page. I always crop something off my photos even if it is a little on the top or bottom. But I don't think everyone does that. I think some crop in photoshop and print out the pictures and scrapbook 4x6 prints.

I did them last week - do you expect me to still remember :confused3 :lmao:

I think i left the pages pretty flexible, and supplied some spare bits (like journal mats and squares) for Susie to put where she needed, or to use for smaller croppped photos. My mind has gone comlpetely blank on photo mats :scared1: I remember agonising over should they be landscape or portrait, but i honestly couldn't tell you what i decided, or even if I included any:scared:

I am a BAD swapper :guilty:

Happy my pages made it there safe.

Susie, Let Stone know he has a special angel in Heaven, who will always watch over him. When my dad died 4 years ago, my DD and DN had problems with it, so we told them that they had a "Star" grandpa, and they could talk to him anytime when they saw a star. That year for Christmas we even got both kids a star ornament for them.

I guess what I'm saying is that make something or somewhere where Stone can feel comfortable talking to or think about his daddy, I told this to my friends who lost their baby last year for their girls and they both have a spot they picked out where to go to talk or think about their brother. My friend says it helps them out when they get sad.

ok i did mine yesterday and will put in the mail tomorrow. hopefully they look ok. this is my first time doing pages for someone else. what i think looks nice may not be what someone else likes.....if ya know what i mean???!!!

i did not put all the elements on the page. i thought maybe she would want to put it her way. and i did frames so you kinda have to have the pic for it first. i also threw in some extra paper of the same color in case she wants to add something.

hope this all makes sense.

I have done the topper and 2 photomats and a mini file folder and a rectangular box that has three areas to put mini photos in....and realize that 8x8 isn't much real estate! Seems like if I sent the elements it would be more flexible for the layout?

Mickster
12-06-2007, 12:55 PM

i hope i did mine right. i sent my pages with the topper on, but not me elements. i did 2 tags and 2 frames. i thought maybe she would want to put the pic behind the frame and put it on the page where she wanted.

so so sorry if that's not what i was supposed to do. hope it's still ok. i did send extra paper with mine, because i thought if it looked to crowded with the frame and the tag, she could arrange it how she wanted it to be. anywho~that's what i did.

Mine isn't there?

Am I misunderstanding the USPS? Isn't priority supposed to be 2-3 days?

It's 2 to 3 days in general but that is not guaranteed. Sometimes I mail Priority cross-country and it takes 3 days. Other times it takes 6. It depends on the P.O. and right now is a heavy mail time to boot so things will take longer.

Frustrating, isn't it.

Yes, this is day 4. Christmas or not, if they can't do it in the general 2-3 days, shouldn't there be some sort of discount? "Discount Priority-When it absolutely, positively doesn't matter when it gets there.":rotfl2: I'm picturing a priority stamp clearance bin in the PO lobby.:lmao:

Could you imagine... local tv stations sending camera crews out to see DIS swap addicts in the clearance bins looking for the best postage!! Rolodex and priority boxes in hand to slap those addys on and go-go-go!:rotfl:

I am completely and totally overwhelmed and humbled.

My mailman just made our delivery for today and the memorial book is absolutely gorgeous. WOW

It has been a very difficult few days. Stone has been with Virgil's parents this afternoon and will go to Virg's sister's house today. I want to hold a grudge and just can't. It isn't fair but it hurts so bad to have people treat me so ugly and not help with any of the cr** I am having to go through to have to get things Stone should receive as a beneficiary through Home Depot because their HR department says there is no beneficiary listed. I think they lost everything because I had filled out the papers myself. UGH...... Clerk of Court won't let me open the estate on Stone's behalf because t has not been 90 days. It is okay - it is just stuff.

Then I have my wonderful sweetbaby angel who made his dad a card yesterday when he made his others. I tell you my nerves stay so tore up that I have been taking Xanax today.

My mom had gotten out our stockings last week to be hung tonight after we celebrate Jesus' birthday ----- well I was looking for something today and I found Virgil's stocking that says Daddy on it (he was always so proud of that stocking as he was 41 when he became a dad for the onlly time) ---- we still hung one every year for him with ours because he usually spends Christmas eve night here with Stone so we can be together as a family. Needless to say it just about killed me. But I changed my shirt because of all the blubber I wiped on my sleeves. (LOL)

Today, I was making the Happy Birthday Jesus cake and Stone was helping. He asked me to make one for his dad's mom-----girls, how could I tell him now. I never knew I was capable of letting so much roll off my back and being the better person.

But look what God has bessed me with---an awesome group of women that have supported me and my son and loved us right where we are at and I am so totally and truly honored to be in the presence of such great women.

You have filled a void in my heart and my spirit that I can not even find the words to describe.

Each and every one of you embody the spirit of Christmas and the love that came down to us that day. Even when we didn't deserve it - Grace found us. In a very similar manner - I found you, my DIS family.

I don't deserve to have such wonderful people in my life such as you but I am so glad that you are there.

I am eternally grateful.

Susie

:santa: I'm glad it arrived - I can't believe it got there so fast! I'm really glad that you are happy with it. (Of course, I need to change my shirt now, too. :)) Enjoy your Christmas and know that Virgil will be there with you, regardless of what is happening around you.

God bless you, Susie and Stone. I'm so glad the book made it for the Holiday.

I wouldn't let Virgil's family dampen your spirits or harden your heart. You are kind, generous and forgiving and you don't want to change, especially for Stone's sake. He will be looking to you now for guidance in the way he should treat people. Just remember that as terrible as his family may be, they gave Virgil to you and in turn he gave you Stone. So no matter what, you have the greatest gift of all in Stone.

I hope you hung Virgil's stocking up. I think Stone would like that and you could put the card that he made in it.

Hugs Sweetie!!!! I hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as it can. And know that we will be thinking of you.

I'm so glad you received the package... and know that Buffy put into words exactly what I wanted to say! Thanks Buffy!
We will always be here for you... and know that what you are letting roll of your back will be very beneficial to Stone in the future.. He will remember this and in turn do the same towards others. You'll waste a lot of energy holding the anger in...and in the big picture their pettiness is nothing for you to worry about... Love Stone and Love every moment you have with him.... and remember fondly the times you spent as a family and even as friends with Virgil... those are memories and moments his family can never, ever take away from you!!
