Company execs have to say upbeat at annual meetings if they want people to keep buying their stock and not bail out like lemmings off a cliff, but even by those standards, this year's annual meeting of the Walt Disney Co. (in Hartford, CT?!) was more upbeat than most. Here's a summary of news articles about the meeting:

Richard Verrier (in both the Orlando Sentinel (http://www.orlandosentinel.com) and the LA Times (http://www.latimes.com) reports "Eisner upbeat about Disney's prospects (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/tourism/orl-bizdisney20022002feb20.story?coll=orl%2Dbusiness%2 Dheadlines)"

Reuters (http://www.reuters.com) reports "Disney Eyes Improving Theme Park Business (http://biz.yahoo.com/rb/020219/business_media_disney_dc_2.html)" as well as "Disney Shareholders Vote Down 4 Proposals
(http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20020219/bs_nm/media_disney_dc_1)".

CBS MarketWatch (http://cbs.marketwatch.com) reports "Disney exec: Worst over for ad market (http://www.themagicalmouse.com/article.php?2715)" (linked through The Magical Mouse (http://www.themagicalmouse.com) because CBS MarketWatch URLs don't work in vBulletin).

Finally, The Orange County Register (http://www.ocregister.com) has its own wrap-up (http://www.ocregister.com/sitearchives/2002/2/19/business/disney19cci.shtml) of events from wire services.

Thanks!
