How often do you use valet parking?

Well, since it is a rainy Saturday afternoon here in NH, I thought that I would have some fun and post a poll on how DVC members use valet parking at BWV, BCV, AKV, stc.

So my question is simply, do you always use valet parking, only use if for dinner, or never use it?

Another "always" here. Valet parking is one of the things that makes me really feel on vacation. Love it!

My answer really doesn't fit into the 3 choices. When I'm at BWV, I always valet at check-in. I want to get the luggage out of the car and have them park it. I usually don't use it for the rest of the stay unless it is raining heavy or if there are no spaces in the self park (which has happened at BW). When I took my mom, I used to put it in valet the night before checkout so that we could have the bellman just take it straight to the car. If I'm by myself, I'll just leave the building by the doors by the pond and wheel it out to the self park.

Maybe DH is in the real minority, but he refuses to use valet parking, so we always use self-park. Hey, it's good exercise to justify all the snack food we eat at WDW!

I have never actually had a car while at WDW so I guess we are a never. We always fly in and don't get behind a wheel of a car until we are home. No way I'm renting a car and having to worry about that. We find it a waste of money. But on the other had if we did ever rent a car for any reason, I would ALWAYS use valet.

Not only do we always use it when staying at WDW DVC resorts, I've used it several times when visiting WDW when staying off-site for business. I'm with Maistre G in thinking it is one of our nicer perks. :thumbsup2

Always use it. Also call ahead for them to bring the car up front Thay put on the ac for you and cool down the car. Love it.

Since OKW doesn't offer valet services, we only use it when we go to other resorts to dine. But I guess we also never use it as a DVC perk, as we have DDE and a handicap placard, so we can get free valet at all resorts, not just DVC.

We don't always use it, since as Chuck pointed out, there are resorts where valet parking isn't available. We do use it a lot though when it makes sense to do so.

Is it the DDE that gets you valet at all resorts or just the handicap placard. I am thinking about doing DDE, if it gets you valet at all resorts that would be a great point to make me buy.

It is either.

With the DDE you must present your dining receipt and DDE card for the free valet.

But folks with handicap plates/placards also get free valet.

I've personally never have or will with our own cars, my family personally has bad luck with valet parking. The one time I did do so up here in Chicago, in a supposedly reputable place, I could tell my car had a going thru after. One of my relatives had the transmission in their car broken doing so, another had a mirror knocked off.. as I said, just plain bad luck. Would any of that happen at Disney I fully doubt it, one in a million chance, but I'd likely be that one.:rotfl2:

handicap placard will get me free valet parking. Oh boy - been cruel to mother - made her walk or pushed her in a wheelchair to all these resorts.

We had never used valet parking until our trip in Aug 07 at BWV. We were on a short trip and didn't do many park activities and actually never once got on a WDW bus! We drove to TL and to AK and walked to Epcot. We loved it!

On our trip in Oct 07 at VWL we used it to park the truck at the beginning of the trip and I think DH used it after each time he played golf - not sure about that.

I didn't answer the poll because none of the answers fit my trips or use of the valet parking.

I posted never, but we have used in once in a while, especially when we stay at VWL. But even then, it might only be once or twice during the entire time. Like when we arrive and when we leave. At BCV it's way too easy to self park. We don't go to the BWV. OKW and SSR doesn't have valet.

We use valet parking nearly every time. We'll self park if we're pool hopping and want to stash our stuff back in the car before dinner. One tip: When you use the valet for the first time, get the valet desk's direct phone number and program it into your celphone. Then you can call ahead even if you aren't in your hotel room (and you don't have to go through the switchboard). This is especially useful at the Boardwalk, where you can sometimes stand around a while waiting for your car if you don't call ahead.

However, I've always been perfectly fit, healthy and happy to use the self-parking and if it rains, my DH is the only one who gets wet :)

Yes you tip. Some only tip when they have their car returned to them. We tip going out and coming in. They keep your keys, you drive up to the main area, they come out, take your name, give you a receipt and take your car and park it. Benefit: when it is very hot or pouring rain, its nice to have someone else do the leg work.

Drawbacks, someone has your car and is driving it, cost plus tips.
