I HATE the coffee at the Disney resorts. I'm bringing my own this year!:yay: We own at the BW but I'm drawing a blank - what kind of filters do their coffee makers take - cone-shaped or the "other"shape (whatever they're called!)?

The flat bottom basket type has always been the correct answer to this question. However, someone recently reported having a coffeemaker at SSR that used the cone type filters, so maybe some coffeemakers are being replaced with a different type.
P.S. I agree that the horrible Nescafe is intolerable. We always bring good coffee. Can't believe that Disney hasn't figured out they could charge a little more and sell more coffee if they upgraded to a decent brand.

I agree but have to add that I think the horrible tap water adds to the bad taste. I always buy good bottled water (I know it's not green to do this but I can't help it when it comes to coffee at WDW) and bring my own coffee. What a difference!:thumbsup2

Well I have lost it in the coffee department. I bought a French press for home and I am really enjoying the coffee. Then I read on the Cruise Critic board how some can't stand the coffee on Celebrity so they bring their French press on board and have the room steward deliver the hot water for awesome coffee. So I bought an 'annex' pot (for travel, not quite as nice as the home on and a fifth of the cost) and will bring it to the resorts after the cruise. No filters, but a bit of a mess, but great coffee!:goodvibes

HBC,
We also buy a couple of those huge water jugs with the little tap at Publix and use them for coffee!
Muushka,
How ironic that you should mention Celebrity's bad coffee! We think that their food is some of the best on the seas, but they also have what tastes like Sanka in the buffet restaurant. The dining rooms have great coffee. I even tried ordering coffee from room service, but apparently that comes from the buffet kitchen because it was icky, too. I wrote my disappointment on a comment card after every Celebrity cruise (6, i think). Obviously there aren't many others complaining if nothing has changed.

Hopefully that pot will come in handy!

And treat yourself to *to go* cups also. Dixie sells to go coffee cups with nice domed lids in the paper aisle near the paper plates and such. We always pack those so we can take our much-improved homemade coffee with us when we head out in the morning.
Since we also hate the coffee that is in the Disney hotels, we usually bring coffee with us. I get the coffee that is pre-packaged in a filter for a drip pot - never have to worry about the shape of the coffee maker and it makes the cleanup incredibly simple. Let's me enjoy a decent cup of coffee and not have to clean up coffee grounds on vacation -- :woohoo:

Just back from the BWV (yesterday) and wished several times that I had thought to pack some "to go" paper coffee cups with lids. Those are now on my list.
Love a good cup of coffee in the morning and am often not done drinking it when it's time to leave for the parks, LOL. Found some at the Screen door, but it was the day before we left so I just made a note for next time.

I also do the pre-packaged coffee. I used to live in Florida and you MUST use bottle water for your coffee or it will taste horrible! We even by bottled water to rinse our hair after shampooing.
I repeat my request for a Dunkin Donuts somewhere on property. :yay: DTD would be the best - closest to SSR. But anywhere will do! ;)
On that note - if you are from New England and you try to order an iced coffee people don't know what to make of you. They almost call security on you! :scared:

We use the Folger's pods. They seem to work very well.

I am originally from RI where they feed coffee milk to babies!:rotfl2:

Another vote for Dunkin Donuts. But we do the next best thing - we bring our own coffee maker and Dunkin Donuts coffee.

Muushka....we used to always bring our french press, grinder etc but have downsized. Our strategy is after we check in, a trip to Publix for our water, coffee cream and other basics and then over to Starbucks for a couple of pounds of French Roast(ground for drip) and a large iced coffee. When we make our coffee in the am we always save half the pot for our afternoon iced coffee break with maybe a lemon tart from the bakery in France or something from the Boardwalk. This works very well for us!! A little off topic but one trip I had been to WDW about 6 times that year, so had plenty of time to do those little things you always wish you had time for and was solo for parts of many days (DH over at Daytona Bike Week). I spent a morning getting a hot Starbucks Dark Roast at Preminum Outlet and then over to POR for beignets with my coffee.....heaven on earth!!!

Always great advice on the Disboards, thanks everyone. I wanted to let everyone know that we brought our Lotus water filter with us this trip and could not believe how great the Florida water tasted. No more bottled water for us, I will happily give up suitcase space for this new essential. There were 8 of us this trip and we would have spent a ton of money on bottled water.

Bringing a water filter is an excellent idea.
I still wish Disney had better coffee. I keep hoping the Canada Pavilion will open a Tim Hortons!

We did it for the first time last year and we had no worries about putting dirty resort mugs back into our day bag (even if we put them in a gallon zip lock).

We bought a Tassimo machine earlier this year and love it. We love it so much that we took it with us on our trip this past September. Luckily we drive, so we had room to bring it. We got some of those Dixie to-go cups, and it was so great to start the day with a decent cup of coffee as we headed into the parks.
Our other favorite coffee is at the Dolphin. We usually go for breakfast at Fresh during out trip, and they serve Starbucks. No speciality coffees like lattes and espressos, but it's a good cup of regular coffee!
Don't forget the coffee over at the Poly - the Kona Cafe has a WONDERFUL cup of coffee!

And they will sell you a bag of beans (and they will grind 'em for you). I had Kona coffee all week this October. I'll have to look into a press pot perhaps! As for filters, the DVC properties have been the flat bottomed paper filters so far in the ones I have been too, OKW, BCV and VWL.

Since Nestles is a major sponsor at WDW (the Land, etc.) it's pretty doubtful that another brand of coffee will be brought in. :sad2: Maybe they will start putting Nepresso machines in all the DVC rooms instead of regular coffee makers? :rotfl2: Wouldn't THAT be great? :thumbsup2

I may just try that over Thanksgiving instead - I didn't know that you could get ground coffee there!! Excellent! Thanks, ,Alacrity!:hippie:

I'd prefer a Krispy Kreme on property...maybe a small kiosk at each resort?? And with as ubiquitous as Starbucks is, I can't understand why they haven't invaded Disney!
Isn't it weird that with all Disney DOES offer, they FAIL at coffee and pizza??? Two of the staples of traveling parents and children!

As coke has the beverage contract @ WDW, Disney makes money upfront and then gets a break on supplies so they don't need us to buy coffee.:cool1:
