So yesterday we decided to take our DVC membership off the market-- we were going to sell it to reduce our monthly bills and then buy again when our kids are a bit older and we can realy enjoy it.

Well, after thinking about it for a few months, we've decided to keep it! We only paid $83/point and that deal will probably NEVER come around again. And I just don't think that we'll ever be able to justify the expense later on. So even if we have to "gift" our points for the next few years, we're keeping it to ensure that we get down to the World later on.

You know what did it for us? Really looking closely at rack rates on hotel rooms. It gets very spendy when you start looking at deluxe resorts. And even though we own at my least favorite resort (woops) I think it's the right decision to keep it.

I think you made a wise choice! If you need to rent enough points out every other year to help with the maintenance fees for awhile, it will still be worth it in the long run when you find yourself in a better place to start traveling again. :thumbsup2

Congrats....DVC is an emotional thing too, I think, not just a vacation club.

Cnograts!! i know the feeling..

i have 800 points of DVC with 7 contracts. We went way over our heads with this so we were going to sell them all. We did sell about half of them already but i ask my DH if i can keep 1 contract of 200 points of the BW (the contract we started orginally and it all paid up) so we are keeping it!!!:cheer2: I felt much better keeping the one because i can still go back to Disney at times or rent it out if i have to and points rates keep going up...
