Just rang teh reservation line to book this, but the lady said that just one royal couple would be present. Not sure how true this is because she sounded very vague. Has anyone been recently?
From the great reports here, it would seem that plenty are present for a reasonable amount of time. If it were just one princess, it may not be a favourite and I am not so sure it is worth the effort.:confused3

Just for the record - in the parks, Suzy is in the Teal/Blue dress and Perla is in the Purple dress. The dress colors in the movie can be different.

As the name suggests this is the place where you can chat about items not related to DLP trip planning.
As always the DISboard and DLP rules will still prevail on this thread so no name calling or argumentative/sarcastic posts and as the DIS is a family friendly forum conversations should be suitable for all eyes.
Please post here to start conversations on any topic. If your post is aimed at a particular poster, ask yourself if others can join in. If it is likely that others may feel awkward then the PM facility is a better option, otherwise let the chatting begin :goodvibes

So am i :goodvibes !! Jealous of the Egyptian cruise too, i was in Egypt in 1981 when i was a teenager and believe me i left half of my heart down there (the other half is in DLP of course  )
Thanks :goodvibes
We are only in Egypt for 2 days, one day at Cairo, one day at Alexandria, we also go to Turkey, Naples, Mykonos, Athens & Rome. We are most excited about the Pyramids and DLP of course! :woohoo:

You will have a wonderful time! I love Egypt too! I first went there on a school trip back in 1977 (probably before some on here were even born :scared1: ) then returned with my DH for a daytrip in 1990. I'd love to return there one day to do a Nile cruise.

Sorry I've not been on the boards much and when I have I've been distracted.
We are 20 minutes away from Glasgow at SIL's. This afternoons events at Glasgow airport have come as a shock and we have spent most of the day watching Sky news

I agree.
I've got friends who had been flying out from Glasgow airport this weekend, l feel so sorry for them and all the other people affected, especially those with young children. I've also got relatives due back from Spain, but l think their flight might be diverted to Prestwick.

Fantastic. We spent 2 Christmases at WDW (several yrs ago) and it was brill. Loads of sun in December.
Christmas day was spent at Typhoon Lagoon (Swimming park) one year - just like spending Christmas on the beach and at Epcot the next.
It was really funny though hearing the Christmas music in the park when the weather was so hot especially when they played Frosty the Snowman and Im dreaming of a White Christmas

I am posting on this forum because I am wondering if anyone is familiar with Glagla shoes from Baliston (A company in France). I recently read an article about them that indicates they provide total ventilation and thought they would be great for those hot, humid August nights in Florida.
Does anyone have a pair that can provide some feedback?
Thanks!!!

I had never heard of them before; they look similar to my Lands End sneakers. The sole technology seems to be cashing in on the popularity of Geox shoes.
Personally, I prefer the look of Geox; they are extremely popular through most of Europe and come in pseudoathletic styles as well as loafers, mules, etc. They are also available in the US. I wear Geox on average 5 days a week, and have worn them at various Disney parks.
But then, that is my preference for European vs American stlye in footwear

Never heard before but must admit they do look cool. I have 2 pairs of Crocs and love them - will definitely bring them to DLRP tomorrow. I was worried about sweaty feet etc etc because they're plastic but it's never happened! Everyone in our house has them and we all love our Crocs!

I love Crocs as well but I'm looking for an alternative for our August trip as they make my feet so warm...with or without socks.
Bavaria -- Thank you for mentioning the Geox line as I was not familiar with it. I might try them if I can't get any feedback on the Glagla's.

Crocs also do a pair of toe posts called Athens and a style that has 2 thin cross bars called Cleo.
They are the same spongy comfortable material but a lot more open than the original beach crocs.
I wore them everyday to Portaventura in June and they did not make my feet as sweaty as the original ones do in high temps.
BTW They are shortly bringing out a pair with fur in them for the winter - from what I can tell they will be an ankle type shape.
I also live in my Fly Flots - they are equally as comfortable if you want an alternative.

Well, I agree in some way. I enjoyed WDW enough to go back, but... I missed DL and DLP a lot when I was there. WDW lacks the "coziness" feeling that DL and DLP have.
But hey, they have overgrown mice and sell overpriced items, so I was still happy ;)

Oh, I didn't even knew this thread was here.
I hope we'll see the shuttle launch, it's scheduled to take place on October 20, and as soon as tickets become available, I'll buy them, but it's very very possible that it will be delayed or whatever. We will be visiting KSC on that day anyway, if we see a Shuttle launch => yeay! otherwise, too bad, we'll enjoy the space center anyway :)
It's not a Disney cruise. Disney cruises are more expensive than the one we will be taking, and also... I don't need an overdose of Disney. Disney is fun, but once in a while, I need something else too!

Sandra, have you considered booking WDW through one of the specialised Disney travel agencies. I think Dreams Unlimited is a sponsor of the disboards and I have read good things about them. But there are others, too. I used them for both my trips to WDW and found it much easier than having to deal with a call center in the US. Especially because they also make all your ADRs. They shipped all the documents to me in Germany without any additional charge. It was great to have one person deal with all besides air fare and rental car.

Hi guys,
not had a very good 24 hours. About 8pm last night i found my little cat Mushu outside my house in a lot of pain. My neighbour said she thought he had been hit by a car. We took him to the vet and she said his leg was seriously fractured, possibly his pelvis too, and his breathing was bad so his lung may be punctured or have blood in it.
It was a horrible decision, but I decided to put him down. Even if we had paid for treatment he may not have survived, and may not have had a great life.
He was such an adorable and fun cat, a real character, and I'm going to miss him dreadfully. We had him for less than 12 months, but he really enriched our lives just being around.
Sorry to post such an off-topic thread, but I know how supportive you guys are here.

Actually, I haven't. I was planning on booking through the WDW-website, and I know someone who works at concierge of one of the deluxes, and I kinda hoped he would be able to book my tours. I really don't feel like calling the US... They never understand me :( and having to spell my name and address is always... a battle!
Oh, we don't really need ADRs, that's a part we will "wing". It will be F&W festival, and I like WDW CS, so... I'm kind of relaxed about all that.
But thank you very much for the tip. I will check out their website!

With the travel agents I used, I only talked to them on the phone once and that was to tell them my credit card details as I was not comfortable sending it by email (and both very really very nice and making an effort to understand me!). Otherwise we only had contact by email and that was great. I can totally understand why you do not like calling the US! That's the reason why I was so happy not to have to call to make ADRs. Also a travel agent will monitor any codes that might come out for your stay and call as early as possible to get them change your reservation so that the code applies. But anyway, whatever method you choose to book your stay: Have fun!! :goodvibes

My five year old son will have been to Walt Disney World three times before our trip to Paris in April of 2008. Would he still like DLP? He loves pirates and meeting the characters - envent he Princesses!!! How many days do you need to see everything? Thank you.

I can't see any reason why he wouldn't still love it. DLP has all the charm- perhaps even a little more detail to magic in some places. The only slight obsticle may be language barrier, but that shouldn't affect his enjoyment of the rides/ shows.
I would say you probably need 3 days to do both parks and enjoy the disney feeling, especially if you're going during low season. By the way, you'll love it too :rotfl:

Hello hello hello!
I've been back 'home' to the UK for a long weekend, made it through the torture that was dh's brother's wedding, almost avoided all of the swiping nasty comments his mother makes (long story there!) and made it back home to Germany relatively unscathed! Stansted airport was a nightmare, the security checks took so long that we literally had to run to the gate in order to make our flight, that was with arriving extra early!
I did get to see my family briefly which was lovely, got to see the HUGE bump that will (very soon) be my little niece. And of course, I got to shop too! As much as I like living here in Germany there is no substitute for the familiarity of UK shops, especially Tescos. Only trouble was, because we were flying we were very limited to what we could bring back, sob.
5 weeks today and we'll be driving to disney...hopefully we'll be well on our way, I'm soooooooooooooooooo excited.
Now then, I'm off to continue the arduous chore of washing, one of the bad things about having been away. Then after dh has finished playing golf, we're going off to Heide Park (German equivalent to Alton Towers) to get some 'theme park excitement'.
TTFN xx

Hi guys,
I saw a video last night and checked out DLRPMagic for info on this ride.....Oh my god, I love my rollercoasters and my thrills but this one looks terrifying!!
Who is going to brave it?
6 of us are going in January so I hope at least a couple of my friends will come on with my just for the effects alone - does anyone know if it will be open the 14th-17th? It says on DLRPmagic that there are soft openings from late December so I have my fingers and toes crossed!
Seriously though, the video I seen on youtube was an onride one, and there was a guy SCREAMING for the whole 45 seconds it laste - 'NOOOOOOOOO, GOD NOOOOOOOOO', and the 7 year old girl (cannot have been any older) next to him was sitting quietly, quite the thing! :rotfl:
So excited about going - there's going to be THREE new rides which is such a treat :woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo:
so yes...thoughts on this terrifying ride - has anyone been on the WDW or California one?

I have been on both the WDW and California ToT. I am very much afraid of heights and just the idea of a falling ride made me sooo nervous! I went on it just because I was to proud to chicken out of it and hated it after the first ride! However my friend wanted to get back on immediately and once again I did not want to admit what a chicken I was and got on it a second time (and I was already over 30 at that time). But ever since that second ride ToT has been one of my overall favourite Disney rides!
It is a bit less scary if you sit in the back row on a seat next to the wall. The wall has a really nice bar to hold on to! However, there are actually small hand rails to hold on between the seats, and I recommend holding on to those for your first ride.
I actually like the WDW version better as the elevator car also travels horizontally. I think it is the overall better ride experience. But I think Paris will get the California version, which still is a great ride!

We've been watching ToT on youtube, which I think is the WDW version.
DD and DS can't wait to try this one out.
Are there height restrictions on the ride :)

Not the type of story anyone wants to read about, but good to read that he was apprehended
PARIS (Reuters) - French police have detained a man who admitted sprinkling itching powder on young children at the Disneyland theme park near Paris and filming them as they scratched themselves, a judicial source said on Wednesday.
The 50-year-old was arrested on Sunday after a German tourist spotted him sprinkling her 11-year-old niece's underwear with itching powder, the source said.
A police search of the man's home later revealed a hoard of child pornography on his computer, and child porn DVDs and video footage hidden in a secret compartment in his bathroom.
The source said the videos included sequences of the suspect raping one of his nieces, and of a series of sexual assaults on other minors.
The man, who admitted the offences, according to the source, was placed under formal investigation on Monday and released on conditions that included an order to seek treatment.
He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of raping a minor and 10 years for aggravated sexual assault on minors.

What a terribly sad world we live in
Can anyone advise me re camcorders??? Not strictly a DLRP query I know but I'm planning to take a camcorder with me next time I go!:bitelip: :bitelip: so I hope you'll forgive the tenuous link.
I'm clueless when it comes to these things - what kind of camcorders do other DISers use? Am I better to go for one of the DVD based or a Tape based Camcorder? Does anyone have any recommendations for one to use filming at night - I'm hoping to get footage of Fantillusion if it is running when I go next time.
I'm looking for something really simple [like me!:lmao: :lmao: ] so I'm not forever fiddling with instruction books when the dog's doing something cute.
You know how it is - they do something GUARANTEED to get you £250 on You've been Framed but by the time you've fought to get the thing out of the bag, switched it on and faffed about with it the crittur has got bored and wandered off.
All suggestions gratefully received

I have a Panasonic NV-GS230EG (MiniDV), bought in 2005, but not using it so often.
I remember having a hard time to decide between MiniDV (small tape cassettes) and mini-DVD recording. The big advantage on the latter is easy handling of mini DVD media. Just finisch your recording, put it in your PC, and you're done. MiniDV tapes first have to be copied to the PC. You should consider what you gonna do with the recordings. Just show them instantly or do all the clipping and cutting (then the advantage of "instant PC use" might get less important).
For whatever reasons I decided to get MiniDV anyway (in 2005 there were just super expensive or "beta phase" DVD camcorders available).
Mine has been not too pricey, got 3CCD which means you got triple of the resolution, optical zoom, but only electronic stabilisation (optical stabilisation is meant to be much better, could make a difference when filmind on rides etc, but as soon as you try to film RnR Coaster I guess it's completely unimportant which kind of stabilisation your camcorder had when being catapulted out of the cars *lol*)
All the controls are pretty easy to use. I looked at some touchscreen camcorders (I think from Sony), but I think the concept of touchscreen is nonsense on camcorders (way too fiddly, you shouldn't wear gloves etc.). Mind got a joypad thingie, just 4 directions and a OK button, and it's even useable without using the TFT screen.
Mine got also a night mode which I never tried, and a quick record button which is nice to do instant recordings, BUT you'll need to have the device in some standby state which will need considerable amounts of power. There may be better features to have the corder ready whenever dog starts to be cute...
Just my 5 cent, and, oh, board admin, you might edit the thread to have a more detailed topic (NIK, it's always good to use a descriptive topic after all :)
Cheers

Nikki, we bought our first camcorder last year and we didn't have a clue either. We went round a couple of shops asking questions and read loads online ~ in the end we bought a mini DV tape one as the DVD ones were still too expensive (in our opinion) for a first camcorder, especially if we didn't take to it. We bought it online too, it was over £500 in the shops but we paid just a little over £300.
Ours has got nightshot mode which I used for Fantillusion last summer ~ it is crystal clear but the colours are a little lacking so when I filmed SpectroMagic (the night-time parade at WDW) earlier this year I just used normal mode. The end result maybe isn't quite so sharp but all the colours are still vibrant and I am very pleased with it. I still haven't got around to doing any editing but a friend who has assures me it's very easy.
Hope this helps. :)

Found this on BBC site dated October 2006
France is to ban smoking in all public places from next February, the prime minister has announced.
Cafes, nightclubs and restaurants are to be given until January 2008 to adapt, said Dominique de Villepin.
Those found in breach of the ban would be fined - 75 euros (£50) for individuals and 150 euros for the premises where the offence occurred.
Passive smoking kills about 13 people a day in France, Mr de Villepin said, calling the situation "unacceptable".
Mr de Villepin made the announcement in a television interview.
"We started on the basis of a simple observation - two figures: 60,000 deaths a year in our country linked directly to tobacco consumption and 5,000 deaths linked to passive smoking.
"It is an unacceptable reality in our country in terms of public health," he said.
Treatment
Public places include stations, museums, government offices and shops, but not streets or private places such as houses or hotel rooms.
Mr de Villepin added the state would take charge of one-third of the costs of anti-smoking treatments, such as a patch.
"That would represent the first month of treatment," he said.
Several countries have already taken similar measures.
Opinion polls in France - often considered a nation of smokers - suggest 70% of the people support the ban, says the BBC's Valerie Jones in Paris.
The European Union's most enthusiastic smokers are in Greece, Cyprus and Portugal, according to findings published in May this year.

I am not from the UK, but we did DL during a trip to California in 2005. I did not get a package, but just booked a motel directly and we just bought the tickets once we got there. We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn, I think with a special rate through mousesavers. Mousesavers has a lot of information on DL as well. Also allearsnet has extended their DL pages quite a bit. Pickles adopted me lol:goodvibes , i found him on the way home from school one day~ it was chucking it down and i stopped to cross the road and i heard this little kitten cry, i looked down and sitting on the wall was a little soaked tabby kitten,i couldnt just leave him there so i scooped him up into me coat and took him home.:rolleyes1 As my dad was a cat lover he didnt mind me brining another one home, but mum wasnt too sure.We put some signs up around the town so see if anyone had lost him but no one came so he just stayed with us, the other cats werent sure at first but they soon came around. We called him pickles becuase he kept getting himself into one. He would be able to get into a alittle closed self we have in are living room but no matter how hard he tried he wouldnt ever be able to get out again.hehe:rolleyes:
I'd love to get a kitten/or take pepsi(he's my favourite, but dont let whiskey hear me say that) when/if we move, but my bf wont let me:sad2: he doesnt like the fur that seems to get everwhere and never seems to go away.Humm maybe i'll have to accidentally find a kitten in distress again.

Isn’t it a law in France that you always must be able to identify yourself?
Then you have to take your passport along
I thought this is a EU law, ore is it just another thing from us " our nose always first " Dutch government?
dlpSteve
08-23-2007, 03:36 AM
We must have been lucky all the times we've been because our shareholder's card and ticket (not an AP with photo, just a standard one) has always been enough.
As for identification, if it is an EU law then it isn't enforced in the UK and can't be until we get ID cards (if we get ID cards) as people without passports or a driving license would have no means of identification.
Cubitus
08-23-2007, 05:02 AM
Isn’t it a law in France that you always must be able to identify yourself?
The question is: even if, would it be applicable to private property? Identifying yourself can usually just claimed by public authorities (e.g. police), but in private areas (like holiday resorts) it's the resort management being the 'executive' organ I think, so in this case even the AP works as a personal identification.
Should the police come for any reason they probably won't accept an AP for proof of identification, so they might ask you to get your official documents from the hotel and maybe even escort you there ;)))
After all I think even if people leave their passports at home or hotel, most of them will carry a small-size ID card, driver's license, etc...

My hubby is having a massive sulk as the penny has only just dropped that when we leave Disney after our holiday, the England vs South Africa Rugby will be on in Paris. He is a MASSIVE Rugby fan and has never had the chance to go to an International game before, let alone a world cup one. I looked on ebay for tickets and they are going for over £400 just for ONE ticket so I doubt very much that we will add an extra night in Paris at that price!!
I did console him by saying that maybe the teams will bring their families over to France for the games, so maybe we might bump into them having a bit of 'down time' in Disneyland...who knows!

Yes she has now got used to the sling and cast, thanks. Sorry about the trippie it has went the way of my quiz prizes and got left behind. Will catch up over the weekend depending on the clean up operation as the house will be full of screaming (I mean lovely) 10 year olds for Morgan's birthday today :)

Just came across this site, whilst looking for something else, internet is a wonderful thing. If you don't want to purchase them, you can enlarge on screen and save the pic, which is what I've done, not sure what I'll ever use them for, could be handy for scrapbooking, perhaps ?

hi all. we have had all the usual best and worse attractions etc - now for something completely different (as far as i know lol)!!
which disney attraction from another park around the world would you most like to see / do u think should be at disneyland paris, where, and why?
personally i think we should have florida's splash mountain.
the ride is long. it is fun and keeps you cool in the suumer. its a great laugh too.
i have many fond memories of splash mountain lol
i would put splash mountain in frontierland up by the tarzan show now they have closed the critter corral - would be a fitting tribute - splash mountain in california is in critter country, and splash mountain paris could be in critter corral...
ok so i have far too much time in my hands lol!!! :rotfl2:

This would be lovely in the summer but I wouldn't want to go on it in the middle of the winter though, you would probably end up with icicles or if it got really cold a ride more like a four-man bobsleigh, though this might be fun.......

I have just started working as a teaching assistant in local secondary school and today I had to sit in on a French lesson. This is not really one of my strong subjects and I was not looking forward to it.
But we were looking at French Culture and "Les Attractions En France". One of the attractions that we were looking at was Disneyland Paris. We spent the lesson looking at its location in France, how to get there, other places close by. We obviously also spent a lot of time talking about the place itself and learning questions that may be useful to know when/if you visited.
It was a really cool lesson and the kids really enjoyed it and even learned some French.......
The only down side was that the teacher called it Eurodisney so I obviously corrected her at the end of lesson :rotfl:

A couple of questions:
What exactly is the children's starter ?
Is it possible for children to have the chicken breast without the sauce or has the chicken been cooked in the sauce ?
A Small World
09-23-2007, 09:54 AM
The childrens starter was mozarella balls and cherry tomatoes on a skewer with a salad and a dip. Theres a photo of it on my report on pg1 of this thread. It didnt appeal to DD at all. Shame they dont do the veg sticks with a dip as an option as in other restaurants as she loves these.
Im not sure if you can ask for the chicken without the sauce but there was only a small amount of sauce. DD hates mushrooms but she loved the chicken as we were able to scrape off the mushrooms and the sauce didnt taste of mushrooms she said.

Yes it is a set meal at a set price. (2 choices of starter, 3 choices of main and cinderellas slipper for dessert- you also get wine and water with it)
Quite expensive but in my opinion worth it as it is what I class as proper French food as opposed to theme park food

Hundreds Flee a Fire At Disneyland Paris
Published: September 8, 1996
Fire heavily damaged portions of a sprawling hotel at Disneyland Paris early today, forcing 1,500 guests to flee, some wearing little more than pajamas.
Nine people sought treatment for smoke inhalation and four of them, including two pregnant women, were hospitalized for observation, said Annie Jan, a Disney spokeswoman.
The blaze began at 6:45 A.M. in the 1,000-room Sequoia Lodge, said Mark Webb, a Disney spokesman. It was extinguished three hours later. Many guests were awake, getting ready for the park's 8 A.M. opening, said the spokeswoman. They were allowed to buy new clothes at the park's shops at Disney's expense and were booked into other hotels surrounding the theme park and in the area, she said.
Authorities are trying to determine what caused the fire, which destroyed much of the roof and damaged dozens of rooms, Mr. Webb said.

there was a fire on the 3rd December at the Disneyland Hotel last year, quite a biggy-guest left an iron on in a room that kind of athing, destroyed their room i believe! but not on the scale of the one at Sequoia (see dummy here went to Seqouia year after the fire happened and i had no idea about it...) then when i went back again to the Seqouia in 2005 and i was disappointed that the hotel didn't have that nice authentic "barbecue" smell it had in 1997 (i thought it was part of the theme...)
then i found out about the fire and the smell it left behind ....:rotfl2:

There's a reason I have waited so long to start my trippie and that's because we had our 12 week scan today - baby is perfectly healthy. I can't stop grinning, we are so excited!
So, this trip was different to previous ones as Denise avoided certain rides and we had frequent trips back to the hotel as Denise got very tired - that's when I began to see Marcus' side of things and being at a hotel closer to the park would have been good. Also, as much as I still like the theming of the Cheyenne the best, as we were in the room much more than previous trips a few more luxaries would have been apreciated!
It's amazing how much your life changes and even at this early stage how much it takes over. I spent a lot of the trip looking at buggies and baby clothes!
It was also strange not knowing when we'd be back as we don't intend to return until our baby (still sounds bizarre) is a few years old.

But I think you must have got me wrong at some point. We don't choose the hotel because it is near to the park. And we don't only return to the hotel to rest.
The main reason is: We love the hotels because they do have great theaming too and for me the Disneyhotels are part of the resort. I compare them with the attractions. I ride POTC to soak up the POTC atmosphere and I like to spend some time every day in our hotel to soak up the hotel atmosphere. ;)

Congratulations Steve and Denise! Great news! I am currently 23 weeks pregnant and looking forward (I think!) to DLP with a large bump! It will be interesting to see how I cope as I think I too may have to spend a little more time in the room than I'd ideally like but it'll be worth it!

Fabulous news really pleased for you both.
Im sure you will be returning to DLP sooner than you think, they cater so well for babies you wouldnt have a problem. We took our son for the first time when he was 5 months and have been every year since.

Congratulations to you both. Now keep saying dad and mum to each other :goodvibes Sounds good doesn't it.
I agree with Becky you'll be surprised how DLP can take on a different meaning when you have to look at it with different eyes.
.. and knowing how much you love coasters :scared1: :rotfl: just think of all those lovely rides on RnR etc in future years ;)

Something like that!
I'm popping this onto the end of our Mouscellaneous thread, as it isn't DLP specific - but may be useful for others :)
