Hayes Family at WDW: Day 8 - MGM/Disney Studios and Home Sweet Home
Sunday, December 17th

My kids love the Honey I Shrunk the Kids movies and playgrounds so we really wanted to try the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. However, they had been working on it on our previous visits. It was scheduled to open on Saturday so we had decided to go back to MGM to try it on Sunday. I called that morning to make sure it would be open and they said yes, it was definitely open. Originally we were going to do Epcot on Sunday; but because we wanted to do the playground we squeezed Epcot in Saturday night. Anyway, we packed and then went to MGM/Disney Studios and started making our way to the playground. We say they Toy Story characters on the way, and went to see the Hunchback show. When we got to the playground, they said it was closed - I felt really bad as I had gotten my kids psyched up to go. There is a definitely a communication problem as we had been told the attraction had opened back up. We were all hungry at this point, so we tried to go to the SciFi Diner for lunch. Same thing happened here as at Le Cellier - long line only to be told that no walk ins were being taken. They said the only sit down restaurant that was taking walk-ins was Mama Melrose. We went, but I was really sick of Italian by this point as I had had pasta at Spoodles, Rainforest Café, and Alfedos. I had pizza, which was good, but the service was mediocre. My husband got the lobster ravioli but it did not have much of the lobster ravioli. Oh well. After this wen saw Pooh and then went back so Sarah could swim one last time. I took Sarah in the pool while Pat and Sam went on the water mice. Everyone had fun. We were then picked up by Ronnie from Tiffany Towncars who was very polite and nice. Our flight back was fine. After we landed, Sam asked the pilot for his autograph (I guess we didn't specify that we were getting the autographs of Disney characters), and the pilot happily obliged and then let the kids sit in the cockpit. This was a really nice way to end the trip. We made it to our house without incident and I was very happy to see my dogs who seemed excited but fine.

I wonder how many autograph requests the pilot gets? :D

I bet you were glad to be home and see your doggies again. :)

Thanks for taking the time to share your trip with us. It sounds like you all had a wonderful time. :)

Too bad about the campground being closed. How disappointing for your kids. :(

Last days are so sad, but this one sounds like it was a lot of fun, too.

This was fun to read.
