I know when I make a left off of International Drive and heading to the on-site hotels, there are a few hotels really close to the entrance of I-4 and then the Universal parking garages. I think one of them is a Super 8.. but what else is there?
Has anyone stayed in these hotels or know any good ones? Are there easier hotels to get in and out of to get to Universal and back?
I'm trying to go this weekend and I'll actually be ::shock:: ::gasp:: staying off-site. :)

I think they are the Double tree and the Holiday Inn. I know that someone (robvia) had that information. Maybe do a search for Double Tree Universal?
Hope this helps you. :cloud9:

We always pick up a rental car at the Budget across the street...there's a Holiday Inn Universal there.
The doubletree at the entrance to universal is on major blvd and is about a 10 min walk to universal and we stayed there in june and its a nice hotel and they did renovate some of thier rooms I think in tower 2 and think they might have raised thier rates but you can find good rated with them on some sites but if you have to pay 249.00 a night and I think thats what it is now its just as cheap to stay onsite.
there is also a hyatt and laquinta Inn close to there also.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Place just off Major blvd. on Caravan ct.next to the Holiday Inn express and the TGI Friday's.It was good, especially for the $46 I got it on Hotwire for.To get to Universal you basically turn left on Major Blvd.cross the street light at Kirkman and you're in Universal, you can even walk there in maybe 10 minutes. The hotel is great with fancy things like a 42" flat panel HDTV,a nice suite with a big sofa, downstairs they have a Cafe with Starbucks coffee and other things to buy,but it has the LOUSIEST water pressure of any hotel I've ever stayed at,there were times when you're in the shower and the water would just go away for a minute or so.

DO NOT stay at the Days Inn at Universal main gate(Denny's location)!!!!!!
I can't even begin to tell you how bad our experience was there. We left after being there only 4 hours (at 3 a.m.).

I'm not really sure if it's still there or not, but across the street from Universal's entry drive, I stayed in the Radisson Twin Towers. It was a really nice hotel and we ended up just taking a cab there (about $2.50 each way), instead of using the free bus service.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Suite right across from Universal. It was GREAT! We got a 1 bedroom suite with a mini kitchen and could see universal from our room which had a seprate bedroom and sleeper couch in the living room. (not really close to anything else but great for one or two nights)
