Animal Kingdom villas seem to have opened quick. Are they officially open yet? Has anyone toured them or stayed in them?
What are the like? Is the location good? Do some of them have Savannah views? I am curious. I've only visited AK Lodge once to do Boma but it was dark so I can't imagine what they'll be like.

The first few villas opened in July. Many more opened in September. Another area will open in December. There is a list of trip reports in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1618893. There is a new trip report that was posted today in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1620942
Check out the Mousecellaneous board. There are many threads on that board discussing AKV. You might have to venture beyond the first page of threads but there is a lot of info posted there.
Heres my question - based on the pictures I'm seeing and the description of people who have been there it seems that the bathrooms are not like they are at the model? Specifically the showers are combined instead of separate. What gives?

The model are for the rooms which will be in Kidani Lodge when built. At the moment only the remodeled rooms at Jambo House, the original AKL are open. It is clear in all literature from Disney that the models shown are for Kidani and that others ie Jambo House may vary.

Here is a link to my post with some pictures. I just returned.

Specifically the showers are combined instead of separate. What gives? Here is a floor plan for one of the Jambo House 2BR lockoffs. As you can see, the Jambo House rooms are laid out differently from the Kidani Village room models that you saw. The master bath in the Jambo House 1BR/2BRs have a combined tub and shower. They have an L-shaped kitchen with an island (vs. the U-shaped kitchen in the Kidani rooms). They do not have the extra bathroom that the Kidani 1BR/2BRs will have. There is no closet in the master bathroom in the Jambo House rooms. They have a wardrobe unit in the bedroom for clothes.
Also be aware that not all 2BR lockoffs in Jambo House look exactly like this floor plan. There are some differences between rooms as a result of things they had to work around during the conversion. For example, in some rooms the connecting door to the studio is on the other side of the kitchenette. Some of the master bathroom vanities have only one sink. Some of the studios have a small closet, others do not.

For comparison, here is the floor plan for the Kidani Village 2BR lockoff:
