Like my Disney album, I'm going to post all of my layouts in one thread so that when its done the entire book will be here, or at least all of those that I choose to post. ;)

The first layout I worked on is The House of the Seven Gables in Salem, MA. For the title I used Base Camp. For the small letters I cut them at 1 inch rectangle then used the letters. The bracket is from Stamped.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/7Gables2.jpg

For the next set I used Base Camp for the title on the first page, then Stamped on the second. While we were waiting for our tour this pretty kitty came up to us. He had a tag that said his name was Dusty, but the ladies in the gift shop said he was a stray. He was really pretty though and very nice. The frame around the journaling under his name is also from Stamped. The pictures on the bottom of page 3 are covered to protect our privacy. They are just pictures of us standing in the doorway.

Here are some new layouts. :)

First one is "Beauty Breaks In Everywhere" - This quote is from Ralph Waldo Emerson. These photos are from the House of the Seven Gables. I used Alphalicious, Base Camp, and Stamped Cricut cartridges for the title. The black border is one of the felt border that is presticky. It was a pain in the butt to put down. The other quote on 2nd page is from Nathaniel Hawthorne. I thought that was an appropriate quote to use. ;)

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Beauty3.jpg

"Just Call Us Wicked" - I got the idea for this layout from a cute sign we bought at one of the museums in Salem. While we were in Salem we went to "Salem Vintage Photography" at the Museum Place Mall where they take your picture dressed as witches in front of a fun background. It was a lot of fun. They take the pictures in color, black and white, and in green. I liked the green and printed only the green ones for my layout. I used Base Camp and Stamped for the title. The black background on the first page is actually a piece of black glitter paper, but it doesn't show up well in the photos.

"Earth Laughs in Flowers - This is another quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson. These photos were taken in the gardens at the House of the Seven Gables. While I was taking pictures of the butterfly my sister tapped me on the shoulder and asked for the camera. I was confused at first, but then saw what she did. She actually took these photos.

I used Base Camp, Opposites Attract and Stamped for the title.

These are the layouts I worked on this weekend. All of them are from York, ME.

Seaside Serenity - This was our first view of the Atlantic Ocean. One of the things we really wanted to see was the Atlantic. I used Base Camp for the title and the dog tag at the bottom.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Sea3.jpg

Wave Kissed Toes - Once we saw the ocean we wanted to go play in the water, but we couldn't find a safe spot right away. Once we did, we knew we had a to get a photo of our feet in the water. :D I used Alphalicious for the title using the short stack option then chalked all the edges.

Closeups:

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Toes3.jpg

Frolicking in the Ocean - You wouldn't know it, but this layout is all about me playing in the water. I think "frolic" is a fun word and kept using it while we were there so I used it for the title. I used Base Camp for the title.

Closeups:

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Ocean3.jpg

What Lies Beneahth - These pages are all about my sister playing in the water. She wasn't as comfortable in the water as I was. She was afraid the waves were going to knock her down. I really don't know why she was scared since she is an excellent swimmer and we used to spend the entire summer playing in the pool. And she has gone swimming in the gulf of Mexico before. She's just weird I guess. She picked the title herself. I used Base Camp for the title.

New pages! Yeah! I didn't get to photograph all the pages I worked on this last weekend because my camera batteries were dying on me, but I got a few of them photographed. :)

All the paper used in these layouts is Basic Grey.

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery (Concord, MA) - For all of these I used Stamped for the title. For the text I included a little bit of their biography and a quote from them, as well as a photo of them.

Nathaniel Hawthorne - Just as a funny note here, the line of paper I used for his was called "Scarlet Letter". :lmao: My sister and I found it amusing.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/NHawthorne.jpg

Henry David Thoreau

I don't have Ralph Waldo Emerson's done yet.

Minute Man National Historical Park (Concord, MA) - The next couple of layouts are all from the battleground at Concord.

A Walk Amongst History - I had all these neat photos of the trail and the woods that were begging to be used for a layout. I used Alphalicious and Opposites Attract for the title. The quote in the corner is from Ralph Waldo Emerson. Have you figured out yet that I like Emerson. ;) The journaling is going on top of the other photo, but I didn't attach it yet. I was going to wait until I photographed it.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Walk1.jpg

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Walk2.jpg

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Walk3.jpg

The Old North Bridge - I really like how this one turned out. I used Stamped for the title. When we were planning this trip I really wanted to go to this particular place because I knew I could used Emerson's "Concord Hymn" for a layout. This is one of my favorite poems, though I think technically its a hymn. It was sung at the dedication of the monument. I printed it off the computer on cardstock then chalked the edges. Then I balled it up and crumbled it. Finally I ripped a couple of the eges to really make it look old. I did the same with the journaling block that has been blurred out.

Very, very nice! :) I live in MA and I love how much our state has to offer.

This is not a criticism, but did you intend to have the *S* upside down in HISTORY? Or is it supposed to be that way?

I always flip my Alphalicious S's upside down because I don't like the way the cartridge intends them.

New layouts! Yay! I finally took pictures of a few, though the photos aren't that great. I might try to re-photograph them later.

Lobster Cove

Lobster Cove was the name of the restaurant where we ate lunch in York, ME. We had a very nice view of the ocean while eating lunch. My sister tried lobster for the first time, which she said was "OK."

I used Opposites Attract for the title. I also used OA for the trapazoid that I used for journaling. The lobster is an embellishment from Jolees. The red scalloped paper I bought from the LSS, which I think is by Bazzill. The white I know is Bazzill. The blue paper is Bo Bunny. The one series of photos on page 2 is my sister playing with her lobster tail. It was really funny.

I want Candy

This layout is of the Ye Olde Pepper Companie in Salem, MA. After our tour of the House of the Seven Gables we walked across the street to Ye Olde Pepper Companie. The candy was quite good. I got an assortment of chocolates with different creme fillings. My sister got chocolate covered cashews. We each got a chocolate covered oreo.

For the layout I used Mickey Font for the words "want" and "Candy" and Base Camp for the "I" I used stickles around the "I" and the boxes of "candy." I saved my box and copied the top on cardstock and used that in the layout. The paper I believe is Basic Grey.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Candy.jpg

A Guiding Light

This is Cape Neddick Lighthouse in York, ME. The lighthouse is an embellishment from Jolees. I created the "light" with a piece of yellow vellum and chalked the edges to make it stand out just a bit more. The font is Base Camp.

Finally took some more pictures. :) The first one is the layout I worked on this past weekend

The Freedom Trail - Boston
This is the intro page for the Freedom Trail in Boston. If you get a chance to go to Boston, definitely take the Freedom Trail. It is a 2.5-mile walk around the city to 16 significant historical sites. We had a lot of fun despite the 90 degree weather in October. :scared:

I used Base Camp for the title and George for the stars. The little stars on the F and T are brads. The circle picture looks strange because we couldn't fit the entire circle in the frame of the picture, which is why the top is flat. I printed the photos in black and white with a fancy border.

The blue cardstock is Bazzil. The main pattern paper is called Player 2 by Around the Block.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Freedom3.jpg

Orchard House - Concord

Orchard House is the home where Louisa May Alcott wrote the book, Little Women. In fact, she based the home in Little Women on Orchard House. I used Base Camp for the title because it resembled the font on the sign for the house. For the journaling and quote I tea stained the paper then chalked the edges. I didn't have a piece of cardstock the shade I wanted so I soaked it in tea to achieve the crumpled, old look. The pictures on the second page are actually post cards since they don't allow photography inside Orchard House.

Paper is by Cosmo Cricket - Gretel: Fairy Tales

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Orchard3.jpg

Minute Man National Historical Park - Concord

This is the intro page for Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord, MA. The photos at the bottom are of a pond on the trail to the visitor center. On side at the bottoms are rub on leafy swirls, that are sort of hard to see in the photos, but show up a lot better in person. I used Base Camp for the title and printed the other part of on the computer because I didn't want to cut out and glue "national historical park." ;) For some reason these ones didn't photograph as well.

Paper is Basic Grey. Brown cardstock is Bazzil. Not sure who made the rub on swirls, will have to look later to see.

The Capture of Paul Revere - Concord

Along the battleroad at Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord, MA is the spot where British soldiers caught Paul Revere on the night of April 18/19, 1775 as he was riding to warn other patriots of the British troops movement towards Concord, but he never made it to Concord. The only rider who did was Dr. Samuel Prescott who managed to get away from the troops by jumping a fence and riding into the woods. William Dawes, the other rider who started out from Boston with Revere, escaped, but fell off his horse and didn't make it either. Paul Revere was actually taken back to Lexington until the start of the fighting there on the morning of April 19, 1775. Adn interesting historical note, he never shouted, "the Redcoats are coming!" but "the regulars are coming out!" A lot of misinformation comes from Longfellow's poem, "The Ride of Paul Revere," which I quoted two lines from on the one journaling block.

I used Base Camp and Stamped for the title. Paper is Basic Grey.

The most amazing part of your entire scrapbook is that it introduces so many to the beauties and history which New England has. Even though I live in the western part of the state, over the years I have been able to bring my middle school students to a number of the places you have highlighted here. By far their favorite is Salem - the Witch Museum and The House of Seven Gables.
Were you able to go into the hidden rooms? I am so happy that you and your sister had this great experience.
Beyond words would describe your pages so far!!! Keep them coming. Caroline

OK I got a few new ones photographed.

Self Portrait (Concord, MA) - While walking near the North Bridge my sister had the camera because she had been taking some pictures of me and decided to take her own picture. I was blown away with it because it was awesome. You can't see it because its blurred out, but she has her head tilted down a bit with her eyes looking down in this neat contemplative expression. It just looks really cool with the beauty of nature behind her. I was shocked to realize she took it herself.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Portrait.jpg

For the layout I printed the photo as a black and white 5x7. The paper I used I think is by Dream Street called "Letters for Julia" or something. I can't find the bottom piece right now that says what it is. The leaves on the side of the picture are rubons that come with jewels. I found them at hobby lobby one day. I put one of the jewels on the I in "portrait." For the title I used Printing Press (letter only option) for the world "Self" and Cutting Up (serif option) for the word "portrait." The quote a the top of the page I recreated from one by My Mind's Eye. I really liked the look and saying, but the colors of it didn't fit my layout so I just recreated it in Powerpoint actually. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. It turned out almost as I invisioned it.

Massaschusetts State House (Boston, MA - Freedom Trail) - This was one of the first stops along the Freedom Trail. I had a hard time picking paper for this one. I finally settled on trying to bring out the goldish color of the dome. Again I don't have the bottom, so I'm not sure who made the paper. The title is a font called "Olivia" for the Cuttlebug. It was quite annoying to cut out the word "Massachusetts," but I like how the font looks. The little square at the bottom right of the page is embossed using the Cuttlebug. I wrote the date and that on it. You may see that on other Freedom trail layouts.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/MAState.jpg

Hartwell Tavern (Concord, MA) - Along battle road is Hartwell Tavern. The National Park service owns it and they do demonstrations and things there. You can go inside and look around. I have several other layouts that show the inside. These two show the outside.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Hartwell1.jpg

The part on left part of page 1 is inspired by the sign for the tavern.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Sign.jpg

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Hartwell2.jpg

For the horse I used Happily Ever After. The horse is from Cinderella, but the hair and tail is from a horse under the Sleeping Beauty section. The sign has a man riding the horse, but I couldn't figure out how to make on to look like on the sign, so I left it off. I think it looks good without the rider. I used the "Olivia" font set from the Cuttlebug for the title. I think the second page needs something, but not sure what. I'm just happy that my idea to recreate the sign turned out as good as it did.

On Wednesday I took my scrapbooking stuff into work and decided to do the layouts for our visit to the New England Pirate Museum (NEPM) in Salem, MA. On Tuesday night I had cut out a bunch of items from Paper Doll Dress UP (PDDU) since I don't take the Cricut in with me. Overall I'm very pleased with how these turned out. Some of them are simple, but I think look good. All of the text is taken directly from the museum. While there I made sure to photograph all of the signs to correspond to the exhibit. I have a few that I wasn't sure of, so I just didn't include those.

Title Page: I used Base Camp cut at 1.25 on the rectangle feature to get the smaller letters. I used Stamped on the shortie feature for the "Pirate Museum" part. The box at the bottom is the rectangle from Stamped. The coins and jewels are part of a piece of paper. It was quite tedious to cut out those sections along the necklaces. The paper is by Karen Foster and came in a kit I got at Hobby Lobby. Oh and the skull and bones is from PDDU cut at 2.5 at real dial setting.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Pirate1.jpg

Pirate Nate - This is one of my favorite pages!!! The NEPM is by guided tour only and each group has a different Pirate guide, ours was Pirate Nate. He was really funny! I used PDDU to create a mini Pirate Nate. When I made him it looked like his pants were black on the screen, but in the printed photo they look more dark blue. Oh well, the mini one has black pants! I remembered that Nate had tall, black shiny boots, so I used some Glossy Effect on the boots to make them shiny. I used the Leprachun (sp?) beard and trimmed it down to create Nate's beard. The boots are from I think the Prince, but I could be wrong. The paper is Rusty Pickle.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Pirate2.jpg

Closeup of Mini Pirate Nate

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Pirate2B.jpg

New England's First Pirate - No Cricut was used on this layout. Paper is by Rusty Pickle

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Pirate3.jpg

Black Sam Bellamy and the Whydah - On Sunday or Monday (I can't remember now) National Geographic Channel had a whole special about Bellamy and finding the wreck of the Whydah, which inspired me to work on these layouts. The paper for this one is by Karen Foster again from the page kit. The picture really doesn't do this one justice because the colors look a lot better in person. On the Whydah I tried to create lines to make it look more like a wooden boat. Overall I was pleased with how it turned out.

Ned Low - The skull and bones are from PDDU. I might add something else to this one, but I couldn't find anything that worked so I might leave it as is. It looks better in person, the colors aren't coming through well. The paper is plain black cardstock and a bit of printed paper by Karen Foster.

Last Pirate - I used PDDU to create the girl pirate. I used the Pioneer dress for the outfit as well as the boots. I used the pirate girl hair. The paper is by Karen Foster.

Hangings of Fly and Kidd - Again no Cricut was used on this layout. I combined these two because at the museum they were sort of connected in the same exhibit and they have the same theme. The square at the bottom is from a piece of paper by Rusty Pickle.

Captain Plowman and Jack Quench - Again just a simple layout. The paper is by Karen Foster.

Black Beard's Treasure - The paper for this is by Karen Foster. I used PDDU for the treasure chest. On the chest I used Bazzil for the darker color to give it the texture of being wood. I used Stickles gunmetal color on the lock portion with a dab of gold in the middle. It wasn't dry yet, so its not actually attached.

Pirate Veal at Dungeon Rock - I think this is probably my other favorite layout! The paper is by Karen Foster. I ripped the edges then chalked them. Under the one corner I put a small bit of the treasure paper. I cut out a few of the coins for the side. I used PDDU for the treasure map, chalked the edges then used Red stickles for the X to jazz it up.

I finally got around to taking some photos of a layout I finished recently.

This layout is from the Witch Dungeon Museum in Salem, MA. The stocks are located out front and a great photo op for crazy people like myself and I.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Stocks1.jpg

I used Bazzill for the background paper. The color scheme for it comes from the other layouts for the Witch Dungeon Museum, but those aren't quite done yet. The photo is a tad dark. I used Paper Doll Dress Up to create the poor Puritan in the stocks. I used George to create three 1 in circles then cut the two bars in the middle to fit the head through. I realized AFTER I finished the layout I could have used Design Studio to create smaller circles for the hands, but oh well. To get the arms through the holes, I had to chop them off! EEK! :scared1: I then reattached them in the proper position. So not only is this poor person in the stocks, but they got their arms chopped off. I used gold stickles on the shoe buckles to make them stand out. I also chalked the "stocks" to make it look more like wood grain. For the title I used Powerpoint since I wanted to use an old English font then chalked and inked it to age it a bit.

I took a couple more photos last night. Everything has been sort of disorganized lately, but I think I finally got everything back to how its supposed to be. I found the other layouts I need to finish the titles on. I'm hoping to do that this weekend so I can post those, but here are two more.

"Forward 54th!" - Freedom Trail, Boston

This layout is of the Robert Gould Shaw and 54th MA Infantry monument in Boston. I have wanted to see this monument for years. It was our first stop on the Freedom Trail. It was dedicated on May 31, 1897 to commemorate the bravery of the first black regiment to serve in the Civil War. If you've seen the movie, Glory this is the monument they show at the end. The battle that the 54th MA is most known for is the attack on Fort Wagner on July 18, 1863 in South Carolina. The regiment had 600 men at the beginning, but afterwards, 116 men, including Colonel Shaw were killed, and 156 were wounded or captured. That is a total of 272 casualties. Afterwards Colonel Shaw was placed in a mass grave with his men which was thought to be an insult, but his parents were proud to have their son buried with his men and felt that he would have approved.

The title is one of the last things spoken by Colonel Shaw. I used Stamped for it. I used the dark blue to represent the Union uniforms. I printed the photos in sepia because when we were in Boston it was morning and the sun made it difficult to get good photos of the monument. The colors were kind of washed out so I thought they would look better in Sepia. I'm not sure who made the paper. I will have to look when I get home.

The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere - Freedom Trail, Boston

This layout is of the Paul Revere statue near the Old North Church in Boston on the Freedom Trail. I incorporated the poem "The Midnight Ride of Paul Rever" by Longfellow. I printed that on cardstock then tea stained it and chalked the edges. The tea staining helps to give it an aged look and wrinkle it. It was difficult to fit the entire poem in the space I needed it to fit. The title is Stamped and Base Camp. The paper is Basic Gray - Scarlet Letter. I also used some Bazzill for the title.

Wow! I even live in NE and haven't seen half of these sites. I think I'll have to go exploring this summer. :-) Thanks for sharing!

I was thinking the very same thing. Although many of us have done the Freedom Trail during a school field trip, I know I haven't done it since, even with going to Boston as much as I have done in the past year.

You have done a terrific job, Yzerbear! :thumbsup2

Last weekend I started on some of the food pages from our New England trip. The first one I finished was for Uno Chicago Grill. My sister and I love deep-dish Chicago pizza, so we had to go to Unos.

The only Cricut used was Opposites Attract and Printing Press on the title. The other words are fonts from my computer and printed on white cardstock. The descriptions for the food come from Uno's website. I took screen caps of them then printed them out and ripped them to sort of make it look like I ripped up a menu. The paper is "Twist and Shout" by Cosmo Cricket.

Melissa - Ihave to say, I LOVE looking at this book of yours especially! I am still working on my Boston trip from last year, and everytime I look at yours I think of something else I "need" to do! I love how you journal so much history on your pages....Mine ususally go something like this - title: Freedom Trail, journaling: here's dd1 & dd2 on freedom trail in Boston, we had a great day".....so I am trying to learn from your journaling....while I'm scraplifting your ideas !!!:goodvibes so Thank you!

I love your layouts! I've been to Boston/Salem twice and have hundreds of photos, but never scrapped any because I didn't know how to present them. I love the way you did it.

Also, love the House of Seven Gables spreads - we call that our family house because we are descendants of the Salem Gedneys. So by marriage, that is a part of our heritage. Oh, and I LOVE that candy shoppe, they have the BEST fudge EVER! I've taken the train from Boston out to Salem, walked from the station to the shoppe, just to get my fudge! YUM!

Great pages!! I really liked the way you chalked the edges of the letters in some l.o.'s - it gave them a totally different look. I'll have to try that!
