Hi,

I have just been to the carving station for the first time and have to admit we walked out safter our salad course.
$22.99 for what they had on offer to eat was outragous !!
We arrived at 6pm and there was only 4-5 tables occupied. The waiter came over and told us all about the fresh salad bar, seafood and pasta bar and to "Go easy" as we would be full up real quick.
The salad bar had 8 choices on it - all the bowls were practically empty, there was no pasta bar and the peel and eat shrimp were questionable - V Dry and bordering on going bad.
there was no chef there to carve the meats( All of which looked like they had been there since Lunch) and to be honest I have eaten better at ponderosa and other cheaper buffets.
I was really looking forward to going this restaurant and am disapointed that it was so bad.
Other people on this board have described it as comparable to Texas De Brazil and as excellent quality. Maybe I went on a bad night??

What does anyone else think.

There is more than 1 place to eat at DW. Where did you go?

You should probably post this on the Restaurant Board, you would get more opinions. Also, you need to tell us what place you tried to eat at.

We went there in Dec 2006 and we apparently went on a bad night too. It was a pricey disappointment. We now make sure to make ADRs at WDW.

Exactly what restaurant are you talking about?

Not only what restaurant are you talking about, but where was the restaurant? If in a park, which one? If in a hotel, which one?

I have never heard of a restaurant at WDW called the "carving station".

Also, I cnnot think of any WDW buffet that has peel and eat shrimp.

Are you talking about the Carving Station restaurant on Palm Parkway?

I'm pretty sure Trail's End buffet at Fort Wilderness has peel & eat shrimp and I thought I'd had it elsewhere at WDW, too (1900 Park Fare or Crystal Palace?):confused3

They are talking about the Carving station off property. We went once and won't be back.

Since this isn't a Disney restaurant, I'm going to put this onto the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board.

Is this restaurant near the Crossroads shopping center with the Gooding's and the Pizzeria Uno? One day we were going there to try it out and I went in through the Crossroads shopping center thinking it was somewhere behind it since from I-4 it appears to be right by there, well we never found it,someone said it was on Palm Parkway and we never tried to go by there. But from the prices and experience the OP mentioned,I'm glad we never found it.I'll stick to the $8 Golden Corral buffet.

I read the reviews here and tried it we did not like it at all. I think they charged us 11.00 for our 3 year old. No it was NOTHING like Texas de Brazil but I read that too, that is why I tried it. :sad2: We will not be back.

Hey everyone! The name of the restaurant is THE CARVING STATION.

And I've never known anyone who actually ate there. ;)

Hey everyone! The name of the restaurant is THE CARVING STATION.

And I've never known anyone who actually ate there. ;)

We have eaten there, twice, and have so-so feelings about it. Apparently it is a one family operation and as such we wanted to give them a fair shot.

The price is almost 1/2 of Texas De Brazil so right away there was some leeway and at least slightly diminished expectations. The top level of food they offered did not meet the extremely high quality level of TDB.

But there was plenty of it and, again, a lower price. Plus no wait to be seated (not always a good sign) and an easier to reach location.

So we gave it a second try on another trip. No improvement in food quality or selection but still OK for the money. Not a top choice nor a truly memorable meal by any stretch.

So we haven't been back since - that was about a year ago now. If I want all I can stand meats and seafood I think I'd choose Texas De Brazil as it is consistently high quality and a good buy even at the higher cost. Even other similarly priced competitors I've tried have not met the TDB level of excellence. Definitely none of those who try to compete on lower price have succeeded.

Unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me if the quality has slipped at the Carving Station as that is often a pattern, especially if a restaurant struggles. Again we haven't returned so we cannot say it has changed from experience.

I enjoyed it solo twice the first week it opened but nothing like TdB We tried it again a few weeks later and it was allright but had definitely slipped in quality and choices available. Haven't went back since then and sorry to hear it has really went downhill. You get more free meals,50% off,25%off,special event dinner invites etc. that just being signed up to the TdB dining club can't be beat. Nothing seems to last in that Carving Station building. There is also now a Tikibar located within being advertised on the backside of the building in Neon. Parking lot was packed last Friday night Good sign? Probably not. Everyone was probably in the Kobe Steakhouse.
