View Full Version : Help - Class Project
I need to have my DS class make a class project that they use for a silent auction. Last year some of the items were, a chair and the kids all put their thumb prints on it, or something with their handprints. Last year some of the items went for over $200
I am not creative at all -
Can someone offer some ideas or even post a picture. I would so appreciate it.

What age group?
Cute ideas I have seen for school auctions are:
Get an unfinished small bookcase, paint it white and then have all the kids put their handprints on them. Have someone put each child's name under their handprint.
Check with a local pottery painting place. You can do a vase w/ the thumbprints that can be turned into flowers or some other theme. My friend's child's school does it every year and last year one was an under the sea theme and the other was nature - flowers and bugs.
Step stool for younger kids with handprints.
A quilt with a square painted or created by each child sewn together.

I bought a little bench that was covered with pictures of kids in the class. :)
Thank you so far -
This class is 2nd. grade.
I was thinking of doing a vase with thumb prints, or an outside big pot with their hand prints.
Keep the ideas coming!

Decoupage. Take the class photo or individual photos and hand prints or artwork or well....anything the kids made and decoupage it to well...anything. The size of the item you pick will determine what is best to put on it. The larger the piece, the more room you will have to decoupage things to it. It is very easy to do. It is just like painting with glue. Modgepodge makes a great decoupage glue.
I take old envelope boxes from the office and turn them into keepsake boxes by decoupaging them. I did one for a co-worker who just had a baby and covered in light pink paper and then cut out letters to spell out the child's name and then put a few pics on it. Quick, easy, beautiful. Everyone will thing it took you forever to do. No sense in telling them it didn't.:rolleyes1

One other thing, Michael's (a craft store) sells a stepping stone kit. You could do a set of three or something to get all the kids handprints to fit.
Thank you so much for all the ideas -
