I'm going for my birthday on my first solo trip. January 5th-10th. Although I still haven't told DD13 and DH. Everytime I bring it up a solo trip to DH he keeps telling me how he wants go. Mind you, this is not because he likes Disney it's because he can't bear for us to be apart. :love:

I am a little apprehensive of a solo trip. At the same time, I am excited. :goodvibes I've never done solo traveling before, so it should be interesting. I am thinking of doing the Keys to the Kingdom Tour while I am there. I have always wanted to do that tour, but never could because I always go with my kids.

I am also in the process a purchasing a DVC membership through the timeshare store. I hope to go to closing in November and I am really hoping I can stay DVC for 2 or 3 nights. I am hopeful there will be something available during that time frame.

My last trip was in August and it was really HOT and CROWDED! I am looking forward to trying the cooler Jan weather.

Jan 5-10: Kids in school, husband isn't working late because of month end bookkeeping, marathons haven't started, New Year's crowd is gone. Hmmm, maybe I should shut up or MORE people will show up!:rolleyes1

I've done the Backstage Magic tour and loved it. KTTK is only Magic Kingdom but I think it will be really fun. Can't do these tours with my kids, they're too young.:sad2:

I will be there together with DH & FIL 1/5 - 1/12. FIL's first time there, our third. We are scheduled for the Sunrise Safari on the 6th and I plan to schedule the Segway tour in EPCOT also. We got the dining plan for convenience and plan to try Kona Cafe, Biergarten, Artist Point for dinners. I'm trying not to schedule every minute, but I want to see everything.

I can't do the 7th either. That is my Epcot day and I finally managed to snag a Le Cellier reservation for lunch. I have never eaten there and every time I tried to get a ressie for lunch or dinner, the only available times were too early or too late!

I will call today and see if I can get on the KTTK tour on the 8th at 8:30. I read about it on Deb Will's site and it sounds like fun and full of behind the scenes info.

I'll be visiting WDW from 1/15 - 1/21 staying at VWL and the Contemporary solo and then starting on the 21st, I'll check in for the College Program and be there til August!

DB and I will be there, Jan 24-28. This is our first trip to WDW together - but each of us have separately been 8-9 times :) Together, we have been to Mexico and California. I'm doing about 90% of the planning (he just wants to show up and have fun!)

I have never been in the winter before - I can't wait to go when the weather is cool!!!

Anne's Family - War Eagle! from the land of the Tigers. We are staying at AKL Jan 5 - 12. We've scheduled the Sunrise Safari for 1/6 and the Segway Tour in Epcot for 7:45 on 1/7.

rigs32 - We have a reservation for Boma (we're on DDP) for 4:50pm on 1/5 (the day we arrive). It's for 3 and we had one of our party cancel 2 days ago. If you'd like to join us, I'll keep the reservation as is.

I didn't hear back but will PM the poster right after Xmas. In any case, we could meet up for a night of club hopping at Pleasure Island. I just have to call ADR because I can't read my own notes anymore and am not sure what nights I've got dinners booked. I'm pretty sure Thursday Jan. 10 and Sat. Jan 12 are free though.

We're going the 31st of January through the 4th of February. I'll be playing "Tour Guide Mike" because it's my dozenth trip and DH has never been! Parents are also bringing DLB (little brother!) and his best friend for their senior trip.

I know what you mean. I stay away for a couple of days and look at all the plans that were put in place while I was gone. It sounds like the front row at the castle lighting on Sat. will be full of solo women with their cameras! I will be the one using my cell phone to send a picture to my sister-in-law who is also a hugh Disney fanatic. She is pea green that I am going by myself. I promised lots of pics.

I will plan on meeting Anne and everyone else around 7:30 at the Cantina on Sunday. First person there gets a large table!!! I am technically illiterate enough that I don't how to post a picture. Anyone wants to give me a crash course with 5 steps or less, I will be happy to try. Otherwise I have seen Anne's picture so she is who I will be looking for.

I have solo ADRS for every night but Sunday. If anyone wants to join me it shouldn't be hard to make a solo reservation into a two. Saturday is Flying Fish, Monday is Artist Point, Tuesday is Jiko, Wednesday is Citrco's and Thursday night is in my kitchen:sad1: ! I have been to all of these before, except Jiko, so I absolutely want to go there. Beyond that I am flexible if there is a group going elsewhere.

I would love to go to PI, but I am leaving on Thursday. If it gets scheduled before then, count me in.

I also don't know how to post pics on these boards... but I'm running out to Home Depot today to pick up my LGMH... which I'll have hung on my "trip bag" that I'll have with me in the parks.... and I'll keep an eye out for Anne's Family.
I'd love to do a P.I. meet-up sometime (I'll be in the area on the 8th) as DH isn't a night-club fan either and I can never get into the Adventurer's Club w/ him, but I'm leaving the 9th.. so I'll miss anything on the 10th or 12th also.

This will be the last post i can do as I'm swamped with work tomorrow and fly out Thursday. Don't know what kind of computer access I'll have and don't have a laptop.

So I'll see the Illuminations group in Epcot on Sunday and the Pleasure Island Club night is on for Thursday Jan. 10th.
I don't know what the Keys to the Kingdom tour is about or what it costs but if I have time to look it up I will. I can always join in on that later this week.

My dh and I will be there from 1/29 through 2/9 for our 33rd anniversary!
I keep talking about taking a solo trip sometime too however my dh and adult sons veto the idea. I tell them I will be safe and have a great time but they don't listen to me. I can't convince them that an older--not that old--woman can take care of herself. LOL

When I took my first solo trip, I went the route of not telling the kids. The guilt got to me and I told them about a week before I left. A little crying. I assured them I was doing things they wouldn't care about doing themselves. My husband wasn't too thrilled about my going alone at first. But he knows that WDW is safer than 'most' places and I wouldn't be driving in an unfamiliar city, I would be using Disney transportation the entire time. He's a little more comfortable this time since I'll be meeting up in the parks with some DISers. He just doesn't want me to leave the parks with anyone or let them know my room number. Give and take, right?
