View Full Version : I'm SOOOO sorry....

but this weeks show will be delayed (likely it will be up late tomorrow night). The issue with my roof is still on going (now 3 weeks since they started work - just to give you an idea of the unmitigated cluster-fudge that this has been). I simply can't record the show with people pounding on my roof (not to mention the creepy 'Chester the Molester' dude that's up there doing the work - I swear to God he's one drink away from a cameo on Dateline).

The problem with the roof stems from the fact that the rocket scientist I bought the house from decided to add 1300 sq ft to the house with an addition and he put a flat roof on it. Think about what would happen to a flat roof in a state that has constant rain from May to Sept. To add insult to stupidity, they also put all the air conditioning equipment and duct-work for the addition - you guessed it - on the roof. So, I not only have to deal with roofers that resemble mouth breathing missing link primates, but also an A/C company that I'm pretty sure is run by Forrest Gump’s less intelligent younger brother.

I really hate putting the show up late - but as is often the case, sometimes life gets in the way. Thanks for understanding - I promise the show will be up as soon as possible.

Pete

You don't need to apologize--just have the construction guys and the guy who built your house say they're sorry.

Thanks for the heads up - hakuna matata - but thanks for the visual :scared1: and the laugh. While I sympathize with your situation, I had to laugh at the eloquent way you explained it :lmao: (not to mention the creepy 'Chester the Molester' dude that's up there doing the work - I swear to God he's one drink away from a cameo on Dateline).

Thanks for the update, Pete.

I did spot about 4 tags that the Tag Fairy needs to give you in the post, however. Plus, you can always vent to us.

Pete, I'm sorry your going through that. I went through a two week period of replacing my roof and HVAC system. If it wasn't banging and thudding that caused my headaces it was the HVAC guy steeping through my bathroom ceiling.

I hope it ends soon. Don't worry about rusing the podcast, it we're not going anywhere. :goodvibes

Well, if we can't have a podcast to make us laugh tomorrow, at least we have your explanation post to come back to, Pete! You haven't lost your sense of humor yet, that's for sure :teeth:

I hope they finish the work and are out of your way soon!

We need to take up a collection to get you all a complete, state of the art luxury recording studio.

That will be 3rd on my list when I win the lottery, right after I buy a house and DVC. :)

Take your time..sorry for all your construction woes!

Being a mouth breathing, missing link, primate I can say with 100% certainty that these roofers aren't in the troop... I've never seen them at the meetings, so don't group them in with us...

Hi Pete

I'm in south Louisiana, and I do understand reconstruction problems all to well. I was in charge of getting our home put back together after the storm, because my husband had to travel for work. Keep in my mind, that I'm not a nervous person. But after your decription of your workers, I am now sure that mine must have left Louisiana and went right back to FL. Thanks for the laugh, and I can wait for the next show. Hope all goes well, because my home is still not completely finished. Good luck.

Hey...it could always be worse! A couple of summers ago a contractor came in and cut down every tree in a heavily wooded area directly behind my house. For days all I heard from sun up to sun down was the buzz of chainsaws and the huge crashes the beautiful evergreens made when they hit the ground. It seriously sounded and felt like an explosion every time one fell. My whole house shook. It got so bad I finally had to leave the house because it kept giving me heart skips and was making my poor mini-schnauzer a nervous wreck. But the very worst part of it was waking up one day and feeling like we were in the middle of a beautiful forest -- and by the end of the week it looked like a desert. Plus the new home construction over the next two years wasn't exactly peaceful either!!

And that was the story of my honeymoon stay at CBR - BEFORE I found the DIS!

Good luck with the roof and such.

But please don't be late next week!!!! We fly out REALLY early Wednesday morning & I don't want to miss listening to the Roundtable on my way to the World!:goodvibes

As it's been stated before Pete, don't worry about the Podcast, we can wait, it's well worth it though to take their time because if you hurry them up...THEY'LL HAVE TO COME BACK AND FIX WHAT THEY DID WRONG!!! AHH!!!! And no one wants that, they might send over a plumber that doubles as a drug dealer in DC the amount of crack he's pushing..Oops! Did I say that in my head or outloud?!?!

Pete, thanks for the heads-up! It just gives us something to look forward to later this week!

By the way, is this your roofer??? (It's the picture that comes up if you google "dumb roofer," "stupid roofer," or "moron roofer.")

Hi Pete, I heard my name mentioned on the last show as the September winner of one of your contests! I sent Julie a reply email with my favorite number between 1-30 -- I chose 14 -- and I've checked yesterday and today every few hours to see if the next show was available so I could see what I actually won! The suspense is killing me, but I'll try to find something else to do to pass the time till the show is ready to download to my iPhone.

So, what's another day, right? I try and be patient.

I, too, would rather your roof be installed properly! Looking out my work window here in New Orleans, two years post-Katrina, believe it or not, there are still some "blue tarp covers" on roofs! Get it done right the first time!

Patiently waiting, :coffee:

3DisneyKids

Been there, done that...living in construction is the worst! And when you have contractors who have one functioning brain cell between them, the problems are inversely propotional to the number of said cells...

Hang in there!
