Glad to be finally contributing rather than taking info from here!

But I do have one more question, regarding upgrades:

I have a standard at the RPR booked, but with the AAA rates I can afford to upgrade to a water view. But with a Loews First blue, do you think there is more chance of getting a free standard to water upgrade at checkin, and so better keeping the standard, or an upgrade from water to ....(is a suite the next upgrade??).

What do you think?

(By the way its 1-5 May 08)

Are the AAA rates for all of 2008 or do they only go up to a certain date?

Beginning of May is pretty slow. Your chances are good but they are still just chances, not certainties. If you really, really want water view, I suggest you book it.

Hi

Not sure when the rates go up to - check on the AAA site for your dates and it will show you the rates.

Did you get the AAA rate from Universal? I called this morning to ask about January and she told me they didn't have the AAA rates in the system yet for next year!!! I did tell her that I was already booked with a supersaver rate and she told me that was probably going to be better than the AAA rate would be. What was your AAA rate for May?

could you tell me what the supersaver is and how do you get this rate?

The AAA site right now shows $242 per night at RPR for Feb. vs the 269 rack rate. still cannot access the Universal net booker site to check rates.

Need to make a correction.

The AAA rates are out for RPR and PBH only. When I called AAA I asked for HRH and they are not out as of this morning.

Yep. . . they are out for HRH as well. I just changed my ressie to AAA rate. Discount is a measly 10% though :confused3 Better than nothing - saved me just under $200. I thought the discount was a pretty standard 20%, so I'm kind of disappointed.

I booked the supersaver rate on the Universal website at $171 Jan 16-21 at RPR.

I had asked for the AAA rate for RPR when I called this morning and they told me there wasn't one! But I guess if it is only 10% off rack rate, it won't be better than the supersaver rate.

Looks like AAA is available at HRH too. I just booked August at AAA rate.

What is the supersaver rate? I didn't see it on their site.

AAA does not show up on the Universal site.
I have just called to get the AAA rate applied to my booking, for 30th June new rate $207.40 then on 4th and 5th goes up to $220.15 then back down to $207.40.
Think this AAA rate is more than 10% probably around 17%

For June 26th I got a AAA rate of $219.60 at RPH and for June 27th I got $233.10 (all b4 tax-rate difference reflects weekend increase). :cool1:

Ok, so now...what the next rate we're waiting on? :)

RPbert1, your dates are not far from mine-why the price difference? Do I fall into another season or something?

rpbert1

No the $207 is during the week, weekends are more expensive

Mikelly1221

The 26th is a Thursday. I got $219.60 for that rate and $233.10 for the next night, which is a Friday. Was your original rate lower maybe? I had $240- something for the Thursday and $259.00 for the Friday originally. I'm staying at RPH.

Any thoughts?

johnnyr - what kind of rate did you get? I called today to book HRH for June 24-29 and she said they were not out yet, only out for HRH through May.
I think some of the reservationists try to fool some of us. Thanks for any info.

We are staying 3 nights at HRH in August. I got $282.60 + tax for a Saturday rate and $269.10 + tax for Sunday and Monday. It's only 10% off rack. I was hoping for something better.

Johnnyr, you have to stay 4 or more nights to get this deal. They give you two 7 day passes that they are selling for $85.00 each.I book from the resort main page or the loews web site.Do you have the loews card?If not go onto the site and join for free.Thats why i never get the discount because I dont think you get both. Also concierge at the hard rock is worth the exta $100.00 a night. You dont need to go out for any breakfast or dinners and the 2 hour happy hour is worth the extra on it's own.We go to the hard rock every other year on our annual 4th of july disney trip and this is year #9.The only Disney concierge that comes close is the polynesian.Im a family of five so with the soft drinks all day and treats it's crazy not to stay concierge in universal.Remember it's not all dates that you get the pass deal since my reservation july 3rd to July 7th dont have it but The 9th thru the 13th does and all the dates during the summer.I see it as im saving $170.00 on my vacation which is what a 10% discount would be.
I hope this info helps you and if you need any other info let me know

I guess it makes sense that the discount varies depending on the dates. . . just as the rates vary. End of April beginning of May AAA discount was exactly 10%. . . on the nose.

Are you booked at RPR? Again, I guess it would make sense that the different hotels offere different discounts as well. I'm going to check PBH for our dates because I thought I saw that they might be cheaper. . . which does not make sense to me.

Thanks for the explanation. We missed it by 1 night. Only staying 3 nights. The 10% AAA discount is better than nothing at all.

Check to see if it's cheaper to take the discount or if your going for 4 nights or more the free park tickets

When I go on the AAA site ( I have a membership) and type in my dates...Arriving Feb 13 and departing Feb 18...staying at RP...It doesn't take it....I gather there aren't any AAA discounts for that time period?:confused3

Like I have said before to others see if they have the free park pass deal and that will save you $170.00.I just checked your dates and you do get the pass deal. Also I would recommend staying concierge/club room.it's worth more then the $100.00 upgrade per day especially if you have a family.breakfast and dinner every day will be way more then $100.00 a day plus we have not included drinks all day.Soft drinks are free all day and night plus they have a 2 hour happy hour with cordials and chocalets that follow at night.

We're staying Thursday, June 26th through June 28th in a standard room and with AAA got $219.60 for one night and $233.10 for the other night. I understand the increase for the weekend, but you got a cheaper rate on a better room! Good job!

I called them back and asked them to check even different resorts, and this is the best they gave me.

I had the stay 4 nights get free tickets deal when I originally booked my room. I booked knowing that I was only waiting for the AAA discount because I purchased my 7 day unlimited tickets months ago. So, because of that, it's to my advantage to take the 10%, which incidentally, is still a slight saving over the free tickets deal. I looked at that too because I figured I could always sell a couple of my tickets, or hang on to them for some date in the future since they never expire. Still was a few bucks cheaper to take the AAA. Also, I've been advised to keep checking rates because there is a chance the AAA rates will continue to go down. Also, I can hope for a supersave rate as time draws nearer.

Thanks!
