Check-in:
They're all on their way back! Please post here when they arrive.

We are making mini page kits consisting of 1 topper/title and 2 elements of your choice for all groups except for groups with specific instructions (party-specific parade groups, Food and Wine Fest and Flower and Garden Fest). See list below for more details.

Step 1 – Choose your topic. You may sign up for more than one group if you would like. Follow the sign-up instructions for each group. You don't need to tell us what you are making unless you are in the event groups. We all know what its like to start and change your plans mid-stream.

Step 2 - PM me with your DIS name, name, home address, email address, and phone numbers. Email and phone numbers will only be used to follow up if I have not heard from you. Check the progress thread for your status - it will be updated with check-in, ship info and received info.

Step 3 – After you create your items, package them individually in Ziploc bags and place all of your bags for each group in it’s own, larger (gallon size) Ziploc bag. Please be sure to package each group separately. Include your name, DIS name and group number on each larger bag. Include return postage for whichever method you prefer. If you want delivery confirmation, don't forget to send in the extra money for that as well as a completed d/c slip.

Please don’t send metered or click-it/ship-it postage – some hostesses have had issues with these.

Step 4 – Check in on the progress thread regularly. Check the thread for updates, receipt and shipping info.

Step 5 – PM me if you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.

Element List (thanks to SusieStone for this one :D) – if you have another idea for an element, let me know and I will add it.

NO hand written lettering on ANY items. Please use computer fonts, rub-ons, stickers or stamps. NOTE: Embellished means using brads, eyelets, charms, ribbon/fiber, 3D stickers (matted stickers/cliparts are okay too) or embossing (dry/heat).

TOPPER - The size and orientation is up to you. Please do not make it more than 8 inches wide. You may cut letters out to spell a title but make sure the letters are at least 1 1/4 inches and have a shadow matted behind each letter. If you choose to cut out a title, place letters in a separate baggie and let us know what they spell.

Thanks for getting me into the resort group. Just to make sure I'm thinking correctly - the topper for those groups should be the name of the resort? Just want to make sure.

You know I have progress already. 2 groups done, 2 to go!

I wouldn't be opposed to having something different, depending on the Resort. Like the Grand Floridian has the big Gingerbread House, and Beach Club has the Carousel, so a play on those themes would also work, and then maybe put the resort name/logo on a tag or something.

I'm all for creativity in the toppers. I'm attempting that in my own UO/Seaworld swap - something a little different on the toppers!

Some questions

1. Can I do photomats as an element for the mini-page kits? If yes, one or two?

2. File Folder size -- I don't know what is medium, mini etc. My folders are about 2.5 inches by 3 inches folded. Do I make one or two? Here is a photo of one. Shauna, you should also have one of mine from the AK element swap (grp C)

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1549149

Thanks!

No real progress yet---still designing and gathering supplies.

I have my titles finished but I want to double check from what the instructions stated to make sure I do it correctly. For the letters I have cut out to place on the title I am not to adhere them to the mat but rather leave off and let those in my group know what it spells?

thanks

Let's wait for TPCShauna...but I think she means, you can make an topper not to exceed 8x2 inches, in which case your title would either be computer printed, rub-on letters, die cuts, stickers...but it would be assembled OR you can cut out letters for a title -- they should be at least 1 1/4 inches with a shadow. If you go with this option, put them in a bag with a note indicating what it spells.

Spent the day driving myself crazy dreaming up designs for this.

For MNSSHP element group, can I change from embellished shapes to a matted & embellished lyric?

I'd also like to change my element for MVMCP element, not sure yet, but as long as it is not a duplicate, can I change? I do have back up plans if it is not acceptable (See, I really was driving myself crazy!) I am currently signed up for paper piecing -- anyone want to switch?

Thanks!

Hi All! Sorry for not being on sooner. It's been a busy weekend. I'm going to try to answer everything here.

NEE - Creativity in a topper is great. I like Hope's idea of including the name of the resort on a tag and having the topper say something else.

hopemax - :thumbsup2 for answering!

123SA - Photo mats are fine. It would be 1 double-matted, embellished photo mat with the top layer large enough to accommodate a 4x6 photo per person. Your file folder is the size that I would consider medium or larger. Mini ones are typically 2 1/2" x 1 1/2". I changed your MNSSHP element and will change your MVMCP when you decide what you want to do. I don't care what it is as long as it is not a duplicate. Let me know! Also, :thumbsup2 for answering the topper question.

NemoMom07 - If you have cut letters to attach to your topper, please go ahead and do so. As 123SA said, that other option would be if you cut out letters that the recipient would organize on a page themselves. I also just made a title for a topper and I left the letters off because I wanted each person to choose what they wanted. I made my topper to specifications, then cut Christmas, Eve and Day and put them in a bag for each person so they can choose. BTW, I never received your PM because you don't have enough posts to send one. Please shoot one over to me after you reach 10 posts.

rlovew - Thanks for checking in!

I hope that was everything. Let me know if there are more questions!

Anyone know which is correct?

Yep, unlike the other special event parades, the Christmas Parade will run for regular guests the week leading up to Christmas, and through New Years. Nice, because then people like me can sign up for the parade group even though I've never been to a party.

Hi all - have a question. For my shows elements for the MVMCP group I was planning to do Twas the night before christmas show. So I got to thinking it would be cute to do a matted poem of twas the night before christmas. Then I looked it up and it's HUGE. Then I got to thinking again that it might still be cute but I'd just approach it a little differently. Thinking if everyone scraps in 12x12 (which I'm not sure about) then I could do a tall, narrow poem that could go down one side of the page - maybe 3" wide by I have no clue how tall - probably 8 - 9" if I had to guess. But I figured before I do that I should check with those in my group and Shauna to see if this is a good idea or a ridiculously offensive one. Your inputs?

Maria

I'm not in that group, but sounds good. I just had the same problem...I was working on one of my cruise groups. I had lyrics for a song that if I did it as one big block, combined with other elements, wouldn't leave much room for pictures. So I broke the song into 2 lyric blocks, instead of just one. Hopefully, they will be more manageable that way.

10-15-2007, 04:33 PM
I'm not in that group either but it sounds great! It will be kind of like a border. Cool idea!

TPCShauna
10-15-2007, 04:52 PM
That sounds cute! Like Piratesmate said, it could be a border. You could even do it on two different strips and make them borders.

Our rule with borders is to make them 12" that can be cut down to 11". Would it work for you to do it that way?

Honestly, I'm sure whatever you come up with will work.

123SA
10-15-2007, 06:38 PM
I like it.

And I was having the same problem. I want to do the candy song from the MNSSHP parade. It has a lot of verses, and a lot of short sentences. I was thinking that if I couldn't get it to look right on the usual lyric block, I would either split into two , or put it on a pair of borders.

NemoMom07
10-15-2007, 09:43 PM
I like the idea with the lyrics written in the format as a border. I am not in that group, but it is kinda like getting two elements. Great idea.

shauna I will pm you with all the info you need when i reach 10.

I printed it today - it's cute - about 9 1/2 inches by 3 inches before matting. Since it's so wide, I wasn't planning to do another half (like a border pair) but I just realized the topper at normal size may not make sense with it. My thoughts was this would go down left OR right side of the page as one element. Does anyone mind if I get creative with the border size to make it all make sense together as a kit? I'm pulling out all the stops on this swap! I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and get creative!!!

We're updated to here. I don't have much time to be on because of work (how dare they interrupt my DISing time!!) but I am around for questions. I'm sending my email addy to everyone so you can reach me that way if I don't get back to you quickly enough here.

Just to confirm, this is NOT a Bazzill-only swap. It's the only thing I use but it is not required.

Tiggermei - yes, you would make three of each group in the Disneyland group.

Everyone else, please check the first post and confirm that I have your address and/or have marked that you have checked in. I try to be good about putting addys in my Rolodex if I've ever swapped with you but sometimes I forget. There are some that I should have but don't.

Other than that, y'all are doing well! I can't wait to see this stuff!

Things are crazy here. I took a few days off and thought I would have thursday and friday to work on all these but, tomorrow I have to go in and fire someone ( ) and friday I have a viewing for a friend who lost her husband tragicly on sunday :sad1: . This has been a rough week. I didn't know what to do for my friend. She is left with two children 4 and 7. I bought her little girl a locket so she can put a picture of her father in there and have him with her always. I just don't know what to do for the 4 year old.
Sorry for the downer.
I hope to work on this swap between everything I have to do. I am leaving on saturday for Buffalo to see a Bills game and will be returning monday. I will try to get these out by friday night. I will update.

Please say a prayer for my friend.

Got you too, did they? :guilty:

Do you think the return items will fit in an envelope? If they do, I can just use the $4.60 you sent. If not, send whatever is easiest.

Beth (pet sitter) is picking up my mail and will let me know when stuff arrives. There might be a delay though because she only comes every other day.

I'll post as I can.

We're at DH's aunt's house and she has DSL!

I've finally updated the thread. I think I got everyone who has checked in and I marked our shipped package.

I've only finished one group and have tags cut for another. Being out of town for so long has kept me from being as productive as I would like.

Please check in when you have a moment to let us know your progress.

Hi Shauna-

I just wanted to let you know that my packaged was mailed out Saturday. I went ahead and placed the $4.60 stamp on my return envelope to keep it from getting lost.

I am glad to hear your DH grandmother is doing better and you are able to get some time away from the hospital. I know that helps. Take care.

Okay guys, I need some help. I've been rolling this around in my brain for weeks now and I just can't seem to come up anything. I would like to do a more "fun" title for my Beach Club holiday group. As you know, they have the chocolate merry-go-round, and I just know there's a cute saying that would capture that but I can't quite put my finger on it. Any ideas?

'K. We're updated to here.

123SA and NemoMom - Your packages have arrived. I have to say that these are some of the most beautiful swap items I have EVER seen. The MVMCP groups are incredible and I am wishing I had signed up for the MNSSHP groups just to have the incredibly cute stuff!

I just want to let y'all know that DH and I are headed back to Florida on the 18th and will be gone until the 25th. Our pet sitter will be picking up our mail while we are gone but I wanted y'all to know that I won't be able to update the received list until I get back.

As such, I won't actually be swapping these out until the first weekend in December. I just wanted y'all to know. I'm sorry about the delay but DH and I feel it's really important to spend as much time with Grandma as we can right now and that week is really slow at work so we are taking it off.

Let me know if y'all have any questions. :cutie:

I have a question for the Flower and Garden group- I am doing embellished shapes and have 2 layered, inked, and stickled/diamond dusted flowers along with the acrylic flowers. I can stick these flowers on a square or paper soi they are matted but I don't want mine like that for my book. Do you mind if I don't I am willing to enclose squares of paper if you want but I think they look better without matting. Let me know if you want pictures to make you decision.

I also mailed mine in a box thinking the weight wasn't bad then realized it went cross country - so the 5 dollars I put in won't be enough to return it - What's your preference on sending the rest for a flat rate box (and does anyone know offhand how much that is?)

123SA - Yes, I'm pretty sure I will need a box to get your stuff back to you. I would hate for all of these gorgeous pieces to get damaged. Don't worry about not mailing yet. I'm not mailing for almost a month so you have some time.

rlovew - I trust your judgement implicitly. You do beautiful work and if you don't think they need to be matted, then I'm sure you're right. I say go for sending them as is. If anyone in that group objects, please let us know.

missesdisney - Yes, flat-rate priority box postage is $7.95. You will definitely need a box since you are in so many groups. Send the extra via regular mail. No rush as I'm not mailing for a while.

Also, I'm having a hard time trying to get my paper piecing to work - can I give 4 bits - one small stamped sign that says "Peace on earth" and then two angels and then one round tag like item with a hole in the vellum for you to put a photo inside and then you can assemble the bits the way you want to? This really has been hard for me to try and get done...creatively I'm not that happy with it....

Not yet but I have one more neighbor to check with who hasn't been home in the evenings when I've been there.

The good news with all of this is that our street has decided to file a complaint with the Post Office about mis-delivery of mail since it happens so often. I know that doesn't make you feel better but it will hopefully prevent this in the future.

I am home all evening and our neighbor usually is as well on Fridays so I'll know this evening and can post.

I found it!!!

OK. After getting home from the last neighbor that has ever had my mail telling me that she didn't have the missing package, I went home, pulled everything out of my swap box and went through all of the envelopes again. I don't know what happened, but your swap items arrived and somehow ended up out of their original envelope and mixed in with items from someone else. The postage got lost so I'll pay for the return shipment.

I'm really sorry about the confusion. I tried to be so conscientious about marking everything off as it arrived and I don't know how I missed this one. Sometimes DH tries to be helpful so that might be what happened. Otherwise, I just don't know.

Anyway, I am working on swapping everything out. I'll be posting pics and mailing early next week. I'll post when I do.

Hi Ladies!

I have a question for all y'all. I was talking to the postman when he delivered my boxes today. He asked if I was mailing some Christmas stuff and I said, no, it was more of my scrapbooking stuff.

He recommended that I wait until after Christmas to send them as the mail load will be much, much lower and there will be less of a chance of them getting lost or delayed.

Here's the question. - Are y'all OK with me waiting 'til Wednesday of next week to send these back? I don't want them to get lost and there is a good chance of that happening in the crazy holiday mail. I can put them in the mail on December 26 if y'all are OK waiting. Alternatively, I'll mail them now if you want me to.

Please let me know what you think. I'll go with the majority.

'K y'all. I'm mailing next Wednesday so we can hopefully avoid Christmas mail losses.

I'm totally swamped this week but will try to post pics as soon as I can. They'll for sure be up by Wednesday next week.

So, is anyone else ready for Christmas to be over?

Hi Shauna,

I was just wondering if you were able to get to the PO this Wednesday. I am keeping an eye out for my package as the mail man likes to put everyone's mail in somebody else's mail box.

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I haven't been on. DH sprung a surprise long weekend trip to Lake Tahoe for NYE so I've been away from home and computer since last Friday.

I'm sorry to say that I didn't mail last week. I arrived at the Post Office with a pile of boxes last Thursday to a line stretching out the door (what's up with that?) so I had to leave. Then with DH's surprise trip, I haven't been home since Friday evening for about an hour.

Anyway, I have a pick-up scheduled for tomorrow to get everything. I have pics of everything but don't have them uploaded or in groups so I'll post as soon as I do. At the rate I'm going, you'll get your goodies before the pics show up.

I hope all is well with everyone. Happy New Year to all!!!!

Oh Shauna, how nice! :thumbsup2 It sounds like you had a wonderful time - and your DH sure is a keeper! ;)

Thanks for letting us know about the goodies. I'm in no hurry since my stuff is nearly all in boxes at this point anyway. No playing for me until February, but I can't wait to have these 2 rooms re-done! :teeth:

It was really sweet of him since he knows I've been kind of down with my whole knee thing. I just thought it was funny that he took me somewhere with snow so that it was even harder for me to walk.

It was definitely a quiet trip but we did have a nice time. He is for sure a keeper.

Well, thank goodness for double bagging!!!

So, as I posted on the BAN Wagon thread, we've had a bit of rain here. Actually, it's the worst storm of the past 20 years. I was without power at work on Friday so got sent home early to arrive at home with no power for 19 hours. Our cable is still out so no Internet access at home and no TV! Our apricot tree fell and took out the power and cable lines and they still haven't fixed it yet so our backyard is covered in "Caution" tape. There is no ETA on when either will be repaired at this point so I don't even know how long I'll have to suffer.

What does all this have to do with double bagging, you ask? Well, I set out all of the boxes of swap items on my porch Thursday morning for the postman to take with him per the special pickup I had scheduled. When I arrived home Thursday evening, I found a sodden pile of cardboard with a note from the postman on my door. Apparently, the boxes had gotten wet where I had placed them (on my covered porch) and he wouldn't take them because some of the addresses had smeared, a few boxes were ripped and they were all wet.

I took half of them to the Post Office on Saturday and got more boxes for the other half which I will finish packaging tonight and will take to the Post Office tomorrow since it's supposed to rain some more and I don't want a repeat of Thursday.

So, half of them are still at my house. I'm so sorry. Everything was boxed and ready to go until Mother Nature intervened. If it makes y'all feel better, none of the actual items were damaged due to our special packaging methods. Yay for double-bagging!!!

I don't know if anyone has received theirs but rlovew's came back to me today with a note saying it was too heavy for carrier pick-up and I had to take it to a Post Office. Never mind that there were packages heavier than hers. :confused3 The PO is weird.

Anyway, I'll be taking it to the PO tomorrow as they were all closed by the time I got home. Please post here when y'all get yours. :cutie:

What a great trip to the mailbox for me today. My packaged arrived (no rain damage) and was a great treat to open up. Love all my goodies. I am going to pack them away and have them ready to go when I finally do make it to the MNSSHP that I am planning in a few years.

This was my first swap in several years and it was great to get swapping again. Thanks ladies for all the treats. Love em....:lovestruc

DH called me at work to tell me I had packages again, and it took me a minute to remember what Shauna would be sending me. When I realized I got so excited - I couldn't wait to come home! Everything is gorgeous! This had to be one of my favorite swaps ever (probably because the topics are some of my most favorite WDW things) and I can't wait to use the items. Seeing this swap come back makes it really hard to stick to my guns on my swap hiatus.

Thanks for hosting, Shauna!

Little worried as these haven't arrived yet - but mostly just anxious. Though I saw the pics of the WDW/P&PP pics in the other thread, the DLR stuff wasn't there and I really was looking forward to seeing it. I'll let you know when they show up.

Same here. It's weird that one is lost between Ca and AZ -- those are a lot closer than CA and GA. Maybe weather has them caught somewhere?????

INTERESTING THEORY. But I think we have the most mild weather in the country. Maybe it is because we were both in the DLR swaps. Right? So the DLR ones got lost the closer they were to Disneyland. :scared1:

Lord save me from 3 and a half hour staff meetings! Sorry it has taken me so long to post. My computer is so stinking slow right now that I can barely get the DIS to open and then I had to sit in a stinking meeting all morning!

Anyway, the mystery of the missing packages has been solved. ;) I don't know if y'all know or not but I am still not particularly mobile. My knee is swollen to the size of a softball and I am going in for a CT scan and a visit with a specialist this week.

I mention this because I needed DH to help me pack up the Event Swap when I sent everything out before. He was such a trooper as I asked him to hand me twenty different piles/boxes/etc. He was also quite helpful to me yesterday as I was organizing my personal swap crate which is where I discovered the missing DLR swap items. DH had shoved them all in my bag and put them in the crate. I thought I had sent them out with the rest but that is not the case. They have been quite safely sitting amongst my swap items.

SO, now that they have been found, I have packaged them up and they are on their way back to Tiggermei and hrpufnsash. I put your checks back in as I am covering the postage to apologize for any anxiety I have caused. I'm very sorry about the delay.
