Non-Disney Photographer

I was wondering who other people have used as their photographer (other than Disney). I have called Karla Fountain and Randy Chapman (however he is unavailable for my wedding date)? Any other suggestions? Has anyone used Karla Fountain and what do they think? Thank you

I couldn't get Randy, so Misty Miotto is for us. Taz's pictures are great too...and I find they are all reasonable. The person who took lurkyloo's engagement pics did a fantastic job. Maybe she will pop in here and give us some input too!

Thank you all for sharing. Just disappointed myself that Randy was unavailable, but thank you for the other names--I will research them. Now are all your photographers familiar with Disney and do not require an escort from Disney? If anyone has other recommendations that would be great.

We looked at using Karla Fountain, along with many other photographers, but I never heard back from her!

He is used to doing weddings at Disney! Him and his wife got married there as well! Definitely check his site out, we love working with him!

Although our wedding was in Orlando, it was not at Disney. We just got married on Sept. 28th and we used Arturo Macias http://www.artzphoto.com

He was wonderful and the pictures were AMAZING. I can only imagine what he could have done with taking pictures at Disney. He will sell you all the rights to the DVD with all your pictures on it. He will customize a package for you and is very nice to work with. I would trust my photos again to him anytime! For 5 hours of service plus the hi-res DVD with all my images on it ran me about $1000.

Almost all outside vendors need the escort and the escort fee. I think randy may be an exception because he shoots soooooo many Disney weddings and all the planners are very freindly with him. I would expect to get charged to escort fee and if you don't than that would be a nice surprise!

In terms of photographers i can't help because i used randy but I love Taz's work and he is a great guy to boot!

Hi Dakwister!

We are going with Nathan & Jensey Root (www.rootography.com). Their style is like Karla Fountain's (only better, IMHO) at half the price. They are both photographers, so for one price, you get two people covering your wedding. This is great if you want photojournalistic shots of details and portraits of everybody. They are extremely easy to work with and very willing to customize their packages for you. They will also give you a DVD of all your images, and they have a buy-one, get-one-free special on all prints the first week your pictures are available. I highly recommend them! :thumbsup2

I spoke with Misty Miotto on the phone today and she told me Disney no longer requires an escort for her because she has done so many with them. I was relieved to hear that.

I also can vouch for Taz being a nice guy. I contacted him asking about doing family photos for our upcoming trip next month, and he is going on his own vacation. He sent me an email the other day about an opportunity to take photos at the Grand Floridian. SO even thought he couldn't do it, he didn't just blow me off. I can appreciate that.

We'll be using Misty Miotto as well. I've seen alot of her work and it's amazing! She's very responsive, friendly and I can't wait to see the finished product. DF and I are going down in November and we will be doing Engagement shoots then!

We went with Gary Fox ( www.gfoxfoto.com ) and were VERY pleased with the results and his personality.

Please make sure you tell the photographer exactly what shots you are looking for. Give them examples. We really wished we would have made a list of exactly what we were expecting.
