I have been reading alot about this "dole whip". I have never seen one, or heard of it until these boards.
Can someone tell a little more about it and maybe post a picture.

I am going in 2 weeks and want to know what to look for.

Is it a snack credit?

You can find it at a stand in adventure land in MK ( I am sure someone will post the exact name of the stand - I just can't think of it ATM)
Basically it is like soft served ice cream except it is pineapple flavor. You can also get it as a float with pineapple juice.
Honestly imo, I am not sure why everyone hypes this up. Yeah it is okay but I wouldn't drudge across the park to get one.

Dole Whips can be found in Adventureland, just past the bridge from the Hub, at a stand called Aloha Isle.

I love the pineapple soft-serve variety myself, but you can also get the pineapple soft-serve mixed with vanilla soft-serve. And the ultimate pineapple lover's treat is a dole-whip float, which is pineapple soft-serve floating in pineapple juice.

They are a mighty tasty treat on a hot day and make for a nice break.

As you walk through Adventureland from the hub, it will be on your right. Dole whips are yummy!

I am not much on snacking but I love the Dole Whip floats. DS and I usually share one. You can also get just the ice cream portion at the Polynesian Resort just not the float. If you like pineapple...you will enjoy.

According to Tikiman, who knows everything there is to know about Polynesian, Captain Cook's does now serve Dole Whips, but I have not personally gotten one there.

Me, too! These are my absolute favorite WDW treat. I've even got my girls hooked - we all get at least one (or maybe two ;) ) each trip. It's one of those Disney things you just have to try at least once. I'm getting excited just thinking about having one again in a few months ...

They used to also have a real yummy frozen orange juice and soft serve combo at the snack bar just to right of the Tiki Room. The orange juice was frozen to a soft serve type consistency and swirled with vanilla soft serve. It was called a Citrus Swirl.
I say used to have because that's what it used to be. They kept the name, but replaced it with vanilla soft serve swirled with orange flavored soft swirl (sort of like soft serve orange sherbit). It is good (well, it's OK), but nowhere near as good as the old Citrus Swirl.

I've never had a Dole Whip because I am allergic to pineapple, but in many years of watching my MIL eat them, I think they are different now than they used to be . Now they are a pineapple flavored soft serve ice cream. I think they used to be more like the old Citrus Swirl. (I'm sure someone will post to confirm or deny).

I also found this nutri info from the distributor:
It ranges from 80-90 Calories/ 1/2 cup. Has under 3 grams of fat (ps the fruit flavors only have only 0.5 grams of fat!!--it's the vanilla and chocolate that have 2.5 g) and 0 cholestrol. It can be marketed as Low fat, cholesterol free, gluten free, and lactose free (for any of those out there with those allergies rejoice!)

This goes for the vanilla and chocolate flavors too--they are not ice cream, but rather a frozen dessert. (And I'm almost positive the strawberry and orange stands are the same product as well).

Okay... so making Dole Whip at home will definitely take some of the magicalness away from it, but for those of you who can't make it to WDW soon enough....

(here's my long story.... )

I just got home from a business trip.... before I leave I always download podcasts onto my iPod to keep me entertained during my flights. I just recently started downloading Disney podcasts and I had added some video podcasts from Inside the Magic (http://www.distantcreations.com/insidethemagic/archive/). I began watching episode #112 an would you believe it? It was all about how to make Dole Whip at home!

Evidently the mix is sold at this website (http://www.uec-hawaii.com/products2.html) and you can make it at home in your own ice cream maker! Shipping costs are alot though.... it always is when you order stuff from Hawaii.

Also, while googling, I found several videos on You Tube about Dole Whip.. here's the link for the video podcast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1fnJHTrI_o).

I think I may have to order some mix!!! One package makes LOTS of Dole Whip!!

I'm sure most of you know this but in case you don't Dole is the sponsor of the Enchanted Tiki Room, which is why it's sold in that location. (At least that's the way it is in Disneyland).:)

Well, that doesn't sound bad but its not a Dole Whip. Unless you're used to mixing the vanilla with the pineapple, I guess. The cold stone version sounds way too rich and creamy. What I love about the Dole Whip is how light and refreshing it is. :goodvibes

We used to get Dole Whips at the state fair every year when I was a kid. I haven't been in several years, but that was always a favorite treat and of course the funnel cakes. I am not much of a pineapple kind of person, but the Dole Whips are fantastic. When we were at the world last we had an ice cream and my DS and her DH shared a float. We were all gushes over what we'd gotten that I went back to get a float to share and they got the ice creams. It was worth it. We walked a million miles that week so I am sure that any fat in it "melted away" :lmao: Even if it didn't, it was still soooo worth it!!

Yes it's true! The Dole Whips used to be more pineappley - they were more like frozen pineapple juice and less creamy. Yum! My dad used to work for Dole in hawaii so I LOVE these and dream about them. The Dole Whip I recently had at Disneyland was good but not as good as the ones in Hawaii. I don't know it that's location or time passing by...oh well - it is still one of the best things I've ever had. And something you can NOT find in NYC (believe me I've looked!) I'm looking forward to having my first WDW Dole Whip in 4 DAYS!!!!!
