Dh broke our camera awhile ago. I was telling my MIL the other day the funny story of how he broke it.
So today I open the door and there is a package. I open it and there's a camera. My MIL sent me a camera.:thumbsup2 I had no idea she was doing this.
I received a Canon Powershot A710 IS. I have no idea about cameras.
Is this good camera?
Does it take decent pictures?
Is it hard to use?
Is it better than my old camera?I had a LUMIX DMC-FX9.
Any info would be great.
Thanks.

What a thoughtful MIL! :)
I can't give you any real use specifics but here is a technical side-by-side comparison of the 2 cameras:

You can also do searches on this site to read user questions about your new camera.

Here's a full review of the A710 IS (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_a710-review/).
To answer your direct questions (based on the reviews/specs):
Is this good camera? Yes.
Does it take decent pictures? Yes.
Is it hard to use? Nope, no harder than any other P&S (but, it does have manual controls if you want them).
Is it better than my old camera?I had a LUMIX DMC-FX9. It's got some advantages over your old camera (more controls/more zoom) and your old camera had some advantages over it (better LCD/faster high-speed mode).

Yep. A new camera is MUCH better than a broken camera! :lmao:
Sorry, I could resist no longer...
I'm sure you will enjoy that camera. After all, it is a Canon!

I have this camera and LOVE it! It takes beautiful pics. I'm sure you'll love it. I learned a lot about it from my new favorite website, Steve's Digicams.
