2 DISNEY ships together in 1 PORT!... PIRATE NIGHT w/pictures!

I have never done this before.........Literally, in every way.........
I have never wrote a trip report.........
I have never been on a cruise............

I have never pondered so long on what i will make the Title of something.
And now after a week i am going to change the title!!!! HA, A womans perogative,right??????????

I am sure as the story unfolds though all of the title will make its self clear!:confused3 HOPEFULLY! IF i dont keep changing it!!!!!!!!

This is my cast...................

MYSELF........dizzi........which everyone in my house knows it is short for dizzi for disney!!!!!!!! I am MOM, WIFE, and Cheif Project Manager of this Cruise.

MY DH..........Mike........he is DAD, HUSBAND, and GREAT listener. PROJECT MANGERS need GREAT LISTENERS!!!

MY DS.........Joe........he is 14 year old SON, Basketball player, and MIDDLE School Student. NOT ALWAYS THE GREATEST LISTENER!!!!

MY DD........Allie.......she is 10 year old Daughter (she will be 11 before we cruise), Cheer leader, 5th grader about to embark on Middle School........and She has NO need to LISTEN as she knows Everything ALREADY!!!!!!!!


My DH has been on a cruise a very long time ago in another life, And it was not a DISNEY CRUISE......which does not count any more.......and the rest of us have only seen the outside of a cruise ship as we pass by the terminals in Fort Lauderdale or watch them roll out to sea while we play at the beach...........SO WE ARE FIRST TIMERS!!!

FIRST TIMERS.......in just about every way........WE have no idea what to expect, what to pack what to wear................OH MY this is gonna be fun!!!!!

FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!! yep that is what we try to do every year when it is time for our BIG FAMILY VACATION!!!!!

We started looking at DISNEY Cruises in late 2006 and finally found this board in JAN 2007. We finally booked our cruise March 16 2007. After much pondering of dates and IF we should get a verandah or not.

VERANDAH!!!!!! yep we booked a VERANDAH!!!! i have learned since then that it is actually said in this way.........VERRRRRRRRRRRandah with the roll of the RRRRRs over the tongue and usually followed by the word DARLING!

Darling husband really pushed for the verandah. I was not convinced for sometime that we should spend the extra money$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I will let you know what i think of the extra $$$$$ spent when we return!!!!!

RETURN................NO i dont want to even think about returning.........AHHHHHHHHHHHH i haven"t even gotten there yet............

OH NO.... CAN WE GO NOW?????????

Great Start. I remember my mom and I trying to decide verrrrandah or not. We went Verrrrrandah and didn't regret it. We loved watching them dock the ship and unload and reload everything. In the early morning taking photos of the sunset from our private deck and knowing we didn't have to worry about being seen in our Pajama's!

Can't wait to hear more!

I am so Extremly Excited!!!!:cool1: The best of the best count down is on!!!! In exactly 2 weeks this exact time we will be loading up the last items into the van!!! And heading UP to Orlando for our BIG FAMILY VACATION!!!

Our Big Family VACATION,this year consists of One day at Sea World, MNSSHP, and then OF COURSE our 7 Night Cruise Eastern Caribbean!!

Caribbean.....awwwwww......Again......something that will be a first for all of us! But doesnt the word just make you feel peaceful, dreamy, i already feel the breeze in my hair, and feel the ocean on my toes!!!!! OKAY BACK TO REALITY!!!!!

The Reality is ............ i only have 14 days to finish packing.....and of course I am an overpacker of sorts, i must know what all 4 us are going to wear each day..and there are certain days and times when we MUST match. I feel a bit of anxiety like i wont get it all in the suit case and like a will forget something, and not having ever done this, i feel like i might mess up and forget something important...................... but i know soon it will all come together. As long as we look good for the pictures!:)

AHHHHH pictures.......cant wait to post some pictures when i return

This may be the longest 4 days of my life!!!!!!!!
Okay at least the longest 4 days of this COUNTDOWN!!!!!!!!!!

I almost wish i had started out not caring what we were going to wear, and just taking a couple simple outfits, as the packing as been a stressful at best.........BUT MEMORABLE.

And hopefully worth it when we get all the great pictures back!!!!
And of course i will post them here!!!!

Of course what happened was i saw a trip report with all the great pictures and every picture they posted they all matched in a very awesoem way....polka dots and colors and stripes.........so i had to do my best for our FAMILY to match as well!!!!

So at this point I have 1 large suitcase packed for our PRECRUISE days and then for the CRUISE i have 4 large and 1 medium. I think by the time i finish i may need 2 more mediums.
We hope we can fit it all in the van...........but i thought it would be more than this so i am doing pretty good.

Truthfully i am tired of the count down and i am just ready to GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!!!!!!!!

OH MY............

We have just arrived home and i am too tired to unpack and wash clothes so i am going to do DAY ONE!

We arrived at around 9:50am at the parking lot! So we only had to wait about 10 minutes to get in to the parking area.

We saw one of our table mates go in just ahead of us and it was very nice to already know soemone that would be on board!

We went into the terminal and checked in ................
FIRST LESSON LEARNED! We had not printed out our check in papers completly, make sure if you print them you check that they are all there! SOOO make sure it prints all the way to the end with LINES FOR YOUR SIGNATURE. We had to fill everything back out.

Making me know for sure we were not going to get a #2 for boarding.
And as i filled out the paper work i mentioned " oh we are not going to get a #2" The lady helping me said if you do not get a #2 come and see me and i will give you one.

I hated to be greedy............BUT I DID GO BACK FOR MY #2!!!:banana: :banana: Magical moment #1 May not seem like much but it was too me!

We waited in the terminal and took pictures with MINNIE!

Checked our DD in to her Kids club and then it was time!

I cant say i was that impressed with the name announcement but i was on the ship and that is what mattered!

We went up stairs and got some grub from TOPSIDDERS............it was alot like i imagined and we sat outside and the air blew through our hair! We had our DISBOARDS MEET and GREET! And said our HELLO'S and had some drinks!

Then we went to our CABIN!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH very NICE! OUR luggage had arrived and we started to unpack! And the boat took off!

AND I STARTED TO GET VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY DIZZI! Yep thats my NAME! And no pun intended..........the more i unpacked the dizzier i got!
BY dinner i felt terrible! But tried todo dinner in the dinning room BUT nope wasnt going to happen. DD and i both felt horrible but we both excused ourselves and went to the room we spent "girl time in bed groaning and hoping the next 7 days were not like this!"

We ordered room service........chicken noodle soup! GREAT FIRST MEAL!
And went to sleep!
SECOND LESSON LEARNED! TAKE THE MOTION SICKNESS MEDICINE BEFORE YOU GET ON BOARD!!!!!!!!!!

Woke up feling like "NASTY"
The whole time i was getting ready to go to breakfast i kept thinking...GOD i really hope i dont feel like this for 7 days.

DD and I took more motion sickness meds and headed to Breakfast.

I Have to tell you, i could barely walk. i was SO SO dizzy!

Getting breakfast was really hard for me. I couldnt seem to get a hold on how to walk while the ship was moving full steam ahead!

But thankfully once we had our food and sat down outside.........
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH fresh air...........large unconcealed places.........
Okay feeling a little more like a HUMAN.........at the moment!

I got ALOT of JOY out of looking at the open ocean while knowing what a great thing i was giving to my kids. One of the things i thought most about BEFORE the cruise was the WIND whipping through our hair and i oved everytime i saw it on my kids or felt it myself! and One of the many times i wished that my family ...mom dad siblings could experience this.

he goes on to tell me that Pam had mentioned it at Dinner lst night after i was too sick to stick around.

So i look it up and sure enough!!!!!!!!!

Time to Get Ready for PALO!!!!!!

So i get ready Dh gets ready and of course the concealed quezzy feeling starts to come back. And before we can leave the room I am DIZZY again! We take DD to her Club since she was tooo sick to go the night before.
Check her in and we walk into the club with her and we are ot there, 30 sec and she says okay you can go now!:confused3

So we leave and heaad to PALO!!!!!!!

NEXT LESSON LEARNED!!!!!!!! DO NOT WEAR SLIPPERY HEELS TO PALO!

PALos tile is very slippery...... and i had a terrible time walking, heels and alot of waves and being dizzy just do not go hand in hand!!!!!!

The BRUNCH was okay.....and that is as far as i will go......it was not excellent for me alot of it was because i was still dizzy and feeling concealed!

But i was not happy with all the comments on the food and having to stand in the middle of PALO while the guy explained just about every dish on the menu! i just wanted to sit and eat. It was much more of a production than i cared to go through for a brunch.

That said Dh must have enjoyed it he is already asking if our next group will do the same thing!!!!??

During Brunch, MY DD paged me.i fianlly get to her in my DIZZY now abit tipsy heels and ALL SHE WANTED WAS FOR ME TO TAKE HER PURSE FROM HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I go back tot he room and change and vow to not wear these heels again on any cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did do dinner and ENJOYED it EMENSLY!

Intrigued by title of your thread and started to read your report...were you on the "Tropical Storm Noel cruise?" DH and I were on 11/4-11/8 Wonder cruise and were hearing lots of stories of what you guys went through! :scared1: Keep the report going; pictures are great,too.

ye we were on that cruise........
I bet there was not one person that was not sick or dizzi for at elast a little bit.....including most of the crew.
I heard MANY MANY MANY of them say that it was the roughest they had EVER SAILED!
My initiation cruise.......so i guess i can handle just about any of them now!

I wish i could remember what i did between Palo and getting ready for Formal Night but it is already a blur..........

But i do remember getting ready.........We had 2nd dining, (which by the way we really liked having and will continue to do). We got ready early and headed to the Show, it was the Golden Mickey and we walked down the RED CARPET, I was very excited to see this for the FIRST TIME.

We got there pretty late and had to grab seats towards the back.....That room makes me very ill and dizzi!

I liked the show, but was glad to out of there.

We realized at this point that wwe were a bit early still for dinner and didnt really have to get ready before the shows any more.

BUT, that did make for us being able to get some REALLY GREAT family pictures without much of any wait at all.

Finally being able to go to dinner ..... Our Dinner this night was Animators Palate......I had heard sooo much about the walls changing and the colors etc. that the REAL DEAL was a bit of a let down. BUT cute none the less!

I really LOVED our dinners as it was SOOOOOO nice to be able to eat with our DIS FRIENDS.

TIP:While looking through my pictures i remembered that when the last color change happens , Sorcerer MICKEY comes out! Be prepared with your cameras and ready for Night time pictures, We were not and the pictures we have are not good!
One more reason to go back!

I was an EARLY bird every night of this cruise i wished now that i wasnt and i wish that i would have stayed up even though i could barely keep my eyes open after dinner. I PROMISE MY SELF to stay up later next time.

DH found a smoking buddy and had a cigar with BERT just about every night of the cruise. I am positive this is why when we got home he had a bad cough!

Well we all went to the Charcter Breakfast. It ws in Parrot CAY our favorite restaurant!

I liked sitting down to have breakfast with out new Dis Buddies.

BUT i was not totally impressed with the Character Breakfast ...CHARATER PART! We have been to several Character Dinners, AND we were aware that they WOULD NOT BE COMING TO OUR TABLE..........And at first i thought NO BIG DEAl......Well it was a big deal for me. Maybe not for the kids.

MOST of the interaction was with the characters was in themiddle of the room, in which we could not even see form our tables, the kids woudl get up and do different dances with the characters, while their breakfast got cold.....not that i care about cold food for kids...they are kids after al....i just like the simple quiet interaction with the character at the table MUCH BETTER///////////////////ALTHOUGH I WOULD choose to go again, and hopefully be sat in a different spot so that i could see better!

The Servers were really good to make it fun even when the characters were not out!

Even though i was not as SICK and DIZZI as i had been , i have to say i was still wanting to get off the boat, even at this time i was still saying......I dont think we will ever do this again.
Nothing was wrong it just didnt seem right yet.
I was still a bit dizzi when enclosed, and that means even if i ws in my room with a verandah. I had to be out on deck 9 to be completly DIZZI FREE.......

BUT ALAS i still had the rest of the day to get through!

Even though i still wasnt feeling the best, I so much wanted to go to the DUCKY WILLIAMS talk.

I had heard it was very good.

I also had an idea it would be very boring and that i woudl wish half way through that i had not gone into that concealed room!

I have to say it was well worth getting dizzy for and a little tiny bit seasick for!!!!

His story is AWESOME i wont give away ANy details just in case anyone gets the chance to go for the first time.......He is a GREAT STORY TELLER! And his TRUE story is AWESOME!

And the whole time he is telling the story he is drawing pictures.

And then he has a drawing at the end to give out all the pictures he has drown, unfortunatley we did ot get one.......... Maybe next time!

one other time Dh was looking at this HUGE group of people in a picture at shutters, he took it down and said wow this is one huge group of people and then he said WOW it has DUCKy in it.and then he said he flet soemone lookign at him, and it was DUCKy himself........Ducky said, i just wondered who was looking at my picture.....and they talked for a minute,,,,
Just a really great, cool guy!

We had the great fortune of having a wonderful lady organize our our dis board trick or treat.
It was done in the form of a scavenger hunt and she joined like age groups together and had wonderful clues made up to find or head in the direction of the next clue and so on until we got to the last clue which led us back to the start where they had GREAT BIG HUGE bags of candy and treats ready for each child!!!!!!!!!
There were a couple of obstacles in our way like too many men drinking where we wanted to start and a wedding going on where we wanted to end but we OVERCAME and the kids had a great time!
DEFINITLEY a highlight for MY DD!!!!!!

This night we saw the show Twice Charmed and once again that theatre makes me very dizzi and a bit sea sick.
I decide this will be my last show for the cruise.

It was normal dinner night and both kids decided they would stay in the kids club for dinner,which was kind of nice to have dinner with no kids!
BUT NOT NICE ENOUGH FOR ME TO SAY I WOULD EVER DO THIS AGAIN

It just didnt seem right, my head was always a bit dizzi and i guess i just couldnt find my sea legs.... my sea head.... or my sea stomach!
Maybe this just wasnt for me after all!

My kids loved the scavenger hunt! Too bad about the wedding in Sessions. The kids were looking forward to spending some time with the kids in their groups. That's me giving out the clues - I was originally supposed to be on the sports deck, but it was closed because of the wind and weather - so it was moved to the elevator lobby of the Stack. But I still had to go outside because most didn't know where the 'Stack' was. Thanks again for all the organized - only if the weather cooperated! (and those people didn't get married!) lol

Well, It was finally the day.........The day i coudl get off the boat!

WOOHOO i could hardly wait!!!!!

I woke up early early before the sun was up and went to get some coffee and sat on the VERANDAH...........

I was so happy that we were going to be able to be on land for awhile, I wanted us to be up and ready for the day as soon as possible our time to meet for our 2 flags tour was 8;30 so i had a litle quiet time on the VERANDAH before i had to wake the kids..............and then it happened,

I know for some of you this will be silly.....................................
But for me this was the most awesome event of the cruise..........

I saw it for the first time ever.............................................. ...
REMEMBER I am a FIRST TIME CRUISER......................................

i saw an island............................................ .........................
and then a mountain coming up out of the water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was amazing to me................................................ ..............
The beauty i had only seen in books and on tv right there in front of my eyes, real time!

The majesty of the sea, meeting right up with those huge mountains, like God hand just plopped a mound of dirt right down in the middle of the water.

i cried like a baby, and i do mean cried.tears flowing could hardly breath crying.........

Those little houses on the side of the mountains, were real peoples houses living so differently than we live.............................

I know i know.I am weird and i am a freak............i cried when i saw the EEIFEL TOWER TOO!

The vastness of our world amazes me.........

And it was just me on the verandah looking at the world that we take for granted and i was humbled!
And i was blessed and i was appreciative that i was able to see this for myself.

yes call me weird i am ready for the comments. NO it wasnt Mickey kissing my Dd it wasnt dancing with my DS it was these pictures that made it all worth it for me!!!!

Great Lynn!!!!!!!!! I am glad you shared that with us. It is a beautiful sight when you see the islands.........I don't think you are weird at all. I didn't cry til the end of the cruise, but man did I make up for it that night. :sad2:

Well, I must be weird too then! I cry over that stuff too!

When we were in Hawaii in Sept 2006, seeing Diamondhead made me cry.

Oh and the chickens on Kauai, Tunnels Beach, sunsets, all of it.

I think the realization of how truly blessed my life is hits me during times like those.

I am accustomed to working so hard, sleeping so little, that vacations mean the world to me.
Plus, I figure I'm sneaking special memories into my children's heads. Ssshhh! Don't tell them!
I want them to grow up and feel fortunate about their childhoods so little things don't bother them as much. Make sense?

Had to attend my DDs wedding......

The tour was OKAY!

We wouldnt not do it again, but it was okay.

It was a Bus tour and we did see ALOT of the Island.
The views were very pretty but

We enjoyed shopping in the city ALOT and then as we headed back to the ship we walked past the beach and wished we had brought some bathing suits and towels but we didnt so we just took some pictures got on the water taxi and headed back to the ship!

We had a great time in ST Marteen, it WAS SO SO BEAUTIFUL

There are PIRATES among us!
And alot of them!

having gotten into the swing of things My Ds was no where to be found when it was time to get ready for Pirate night!

So myself, Dh and Dd got ready and i layed DS items out for him on bed....which became the thing to do for the rest of the cruise!

At first we had said we were not going to go to dinner because we had late seating but we decided to becasue we wanted to see what special things there were for us at dinner. besides we are both busy bodies and could not stand to not be with everyone else from our table that evening!

SO we got ready and headed up to get some pictures taken!
This was a very fun night!

We saw a PIRATE game show getting ready to start and we joined in, thought we would have some fun......
And DD and i were chosen to go upfront and be team captains for the game.

We headed off to dinner and REALLLLY enjoyed the theming and we are glad we went to the dinner and did not skip it.

Ater dinner we went to the PIRATE PARTy and even having went to the late seating i was very pleased with the place we stood for the show! and party!

WOW MICKEY sure knows how to put on a great party!
We partied hard till almost everyone was gone!

We got through and in just enough time to get to our cabin grab our stuff and head to our spot for our tour. We did the open air bus tour. yes another bus tour kids.....SORRY NEXT TIME WE WILL KNOW BETTER!!!

We did see alot of pretty things and a lot of great views of the ship. But this tour again is not meant for teen agers! OLDER folks and people with young kids, it is nice. MY teens were about fit to be tied by the end!

We did go up the side of the mountain, that is the best view of them all. But it isnt the greatest shops or anything up there, so we took some pictures and headed back to the ship! Hind sight 20/20 i wish i had taken the kids back to the ship first and spent some alone time!

But we got a personal invite to come and hear about the DVC. So we went.

We had been once before but on land and we were a bit interested then, but not 100% convinced.

We listed and watched and were not still 100% convicned.

We mulled it over..........
We thought about it all day............

We made an appointment to talk to someone.................
Gosh i am too dizzi still inside that i dont know if i can sit still long enough to listen and know what i want to do.

We cancel the appointment................

We talk about it more...............
We make another appoinment

We go.......
we listen

WE PURCHASE DVC!!!!!!!!!!

Okay it is getting BAD!
The waves a hugetamungous!!!!!!! yeah that is a word!

And i am getting sick and scared and oh my GOSH!!!!!!

So we already think we will not be hitting Castaway Cay.....and the dude wakes us up at like 5am to say fer sure not going to happen, and that we can make our way down to the desk and we can get in on some good tours for Nassua which is were will be going instead of CASTAWAY CAY.

So i for soem reason just grab my key card and head down, RIGHT OUT OF BED............HAIR A MESS, in my PJs oh i wish i had my camera.....i was the second person in line, i was so asleep i really didnt even know what i got until i got back tot he room!

BUT i was soooooooooo glad i didnt wait when i was done and turned around to get out of line there must have been oh 75 people in line....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH i beat you to the front of line. i did the happy dance all the way back to the room!:banana:


We went to get breakfast and in the distance i saw another ship, again wish i had my camera, it was the WONDER!!!!!! And for the longest time i kept it to myself for fear my family woudl think i was nuts.....BUT for sure it was the WONDER!!!!! VERY COOL TO see them in port together!

This was our favorite stop! We wished for CC but this wasnt so bad.
We swam we ate and it was very pretty! So we were upset but not so bad.

HAHA, I know the feeling...in 98, on our honeymoon, my wife went to the DVC meeting on board. Afterwards, she tried to convince me to join. Me, being the sensible one, said no, not going to buy a timeshare (been to some of those hard sell things, ya know?).

In 2003, our next cruise, I was informed I would be going to the DVC meeting.

"Yes dear."

We bought.

To this day, I feel like such an idiot for not buying in 98.
