We are thinking (seriously) about buying BCV over a resale b/c of the proximity, pool, etc. However, the advantage of a resale to us - right now - was the potential for banked points, as we have a trip planned for May, one for September, and a cruise for May 2003... all (or most) of which we were thinking could be paid for with points. Because I am by no means an expert yet on this points system, could someone help me with what my options would be if we did go for BCV. From what I can tell it would be:
Depending upon use year our points would become available that month and only after closing
We would have 2002 points available then - but can't use until BCV opens in August (which would actually not be so good for our May trip)
For the cruise in 2003 we could use the 2003 points and borrow 2004... so if we bought 200 points and the cruise cost 400, we would be ok.
What I am totally confused about is when we would be able to BOOK BCV for our September trip? So, if I am correct, this would be a disadvantage in the short-term b/c a resale could provide more points upfront. HOWEVER, if this is where we'll want to stay the most (which is a big YES from DH and DS) then we should go for it.
