We just got back from our behind the scenes Mysteries of the Midway Tour. They allowed pictures this year! Great tour-we saw the 3 sound stage houses and the HHN museum. HHN on the 4th was a lot of fun! I would rate the houses this way (best to OK):

1. Dead Silence (so much like the movie, some great effects)
2. The Thing (scary and good props/gross)
3. Psychoscarepy (detailed! good scare actors)
4. Jacks Fun House (nice effects, scary clowns)
5. Friday The 13th (scary kills in front of you)
6. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (these guys are tall and imposing!)
7. Nightmare On Elm Street (really dropped the ball on this one-could have been great, boring sets, lots of scary Freddys though)
8. Vampire Blood Bath (short, boring sets, great makeup though)

Thursday night was a great time to go. We will never go on a weekend again. Much less drinking/smoking and much less crowded by about 50%! We were finished with all the houses, 2 shows and Jaws by 10pm. Hard Rock Hotel was great. Finnegans was a lot of fun! We got to the park around 4pm, did Twister, The Mummy and ate dinner. Then we got in line for Nightmare on Elm Street. I am so glad we did that house first as it was a big let down. I was really looking forward to Freddy. Not a lot of thought in this house considering they had a huge sound stage! Rocky Horror was good if you like the movie. Bill and Ted was funny but last year was better. We did not see the other 2 shows. There were scareactors on the streets-quite a few. There ARE a few scare zones/walk through set areas. Carnival themed. Enjoy the pics!

Yeah...great pics. I would have to put Psychoscarepy on the top of my list after doing it twice last night. I love the details and the Christmas feeling.

Thanks! We go this Thursday...can't wait after those pics & your assessment of Thursday crowds!I went this past Thursday night and the crowds were relatively light considering it's a work night for a lot of us. The crowds seemed to get a little heavier as the evening wore on but if you're doing S & S and have EP's, you'll be fine. Macraven and I were able to do four houses EASILY w/o using the EP and then went back and did a couple again. Remember...if the wait in under 20 mins...DO NOT use your EP...save it come back again for a repeat.

Love the pictures! I really wanted to do the tour but DH didn't want to, definetely be doing it next time. There's so much detail in your pictures that I just didn't see going through the houses at night, think i was too busy looking for the next scareactor!!

Yes, there was a ton of detail in the well done houses (Dead Silence, Psychoscareapy.) This one is gross, but in the kitchen in Psychoscareapy is a lady on the table. We noticed (only in the daytime) that she had cookie cutters cut into her back-euuuwwww....

Cool pictures. I can't wait to show them to my teenage son when he gets home from school. I could deal with the spooky sets, but I hate when people jump out and scare you. Is there a lot of that going on?

FloraFauna, there is a LOAD of that going on! It is really scary and really funny at the same time.

I was coming out of The Thing and there was a thump on the floor and a blast of air which really caught me out. I screamed and swore at the same time and the security guard found it really funny - I'd just looked at him and smiled as it happened and my face must have been a picture.

It iwas by far the best night of the holiday and I wasn't looking forward to it too much. Absolutely brilliant!

We went on 6th October and it was really busy, but we had EP's which were worth their money ten-fold. The longest we waited for a haunted house was about 10 minutes, all the others were around 5. We got to see all the shows which were excellent too. The atmosphere was fantastic.

What can I say apart from absolutely brilliant!
