View Full Version : Best time to visit Hilton Head?

DH and I are considering adding a trip to HH next year, but we know nothing about the weather in SC. When is the best time to visit?

We try to avoid crowds and hate unberable heat. (WDW in Jan is our favorite) It's just DH and myself, so we are looking for something relaxing.

October is my favorite month to visit the coast of SC. Before we had kids in school we always went to the beach around mid October.

Spring is nice, too! We live 2-ish hrs from HHI and the weather is very similar to ours. I have been in April and May and it's very nice. Not too hot, not too cool.

I don't know when the best time is, but we just got back two weeks ago (mid September) and it was fantastic! Not hot and not crowded at all. I was even chilly getting out of the pool one morning when the breeze was blowing. Gotta love that slide at the pool too!

Since it is not your home and you're not heat lovers, I would say May or mid September to mid October.

mid oct is great, water is still warm and crowds are minimal

we went 3 years ago in very early october and LOVED it. weather was perfect and we practically had the place to ourselves. we went again last year in late april/early may and again--perfect weather, no crowds (although the water was a bit on the cold side for the ocean so we stuck to the pools)

We went once in late February. The golf rates go up at the beginning of March, so DH decided to save some money we could go in late February. Well, that lasted only one year. When we went in late February, the weather was cold, windy, rainy, totally miserable. However, the CMs kept telling us "You should have been here last week-the weather was beautiful." So who knows? All the resturaunts were open and all the activities were going on (except that they often got rained out).
