We are trying to plan a trip in January and we usually get something on Skyauction but have never had to book for January.
If you have used it before, especially if it was a ready, set, go auction, WHEN did you book it.
When I search all of January nothing comes up at all...:confused3

We used the "getaway weeks" auctions last year and we booked 2 weeks (the 3rd and 4th weeks of January 2007) in June, 2006. We stayed at Orbit One for about $165 per week. I can't believe there isn't any availability yet for January. I just checked today! Good luck to you! We are going in April this year, but I was just curious about January, too.

rci must be taking more inventory for their new "rental" programs where they can get more $$$$
Fantastic deals on incredible resort vacations!
Searching Orlando January 5 - January 26th
No search results found
RCI Extra Vacations :36 resorts showing up 7 Gold Crowns
Vacation Village 1 bedrooms 413.99 2 bedrooms ( if found ) 522
BUT now they charge taxes on EV.....so cost is
Rental Price
$521.99
Tax
$67.86
Total
$589.85 Taxes Included
Wyndham Cypress Palms
1 bedroom 495 and 2 bedroom 630 ......but do not forget taxes....
what we once all knew with auctions and timeshares....is fading....although there are still deals to be had
your best bet as the other poster stated is to look the auctions which award you a certificate to use on "getawayweeks"
just checked the rci government travel website ....it too....says
Sorry, There were no available resorts with your Quick Search criteria. Please refine your search or utilize the Full Search with additional options.
perhaps, rci is not releasing the inventory until later now...for what it is worth, Wyndham Cypress Palms seems to have a lot listed for most of december .....up to and including 12/16
it is not a bad resort ....especially if you get into the refurbished units ( they seem very accomodating at check in )

I have tried getawayweeks.com and still see nothing. Am I doing it wrong?

In 2006, we needed two units for the week of January 6th. I just checked and we booked on December 19th. There was very limited availability before that. I was able to get two 3br units at the Embassy Grand Beach which worked well for our group and was my fist choice. I used one home and away auction, and one ready set go.
In January 2005, we went later on in the month and I likely booked early in January. We stayed in a 2br at Vacation Village at Parkway.
Good luck, you will probably get a wonderful deal - but January takes time to show up..
We may go again this January too, but I may have to book flights and wait patiently :scared: for Skyauction's inventory!
Have a great trip!!!

that is exactly the KEY......what kind of inventory will they get from RCI, and not even that if you win getawayweeks certificate, since the inventory there has nothing to do with skyauction but once again depends on what RCI has in their POT........
some resorts have taken hold of what RCI can offer, as more and more people seemed to be telling them at sales presentations why should i buy a timeshare from you for xxxx$ when i can get into your resort for x$
the complexion of RCI "rentals" have changed a great deal in the past couple of years, deals still to be had but NOT as good as they once were

Wish I knew someone who has a timeshare so I could get it from them for those "Extra" Vacations...I guess, the glory days of skyauction are over...LOL
Thanks for all the help. I guess we will try vrbo.com from now on.

We're planning a trip January 5-12 and I check every morning with skyauction, getawayweeks and getravelop. I've been checking almost every day since May and nothing so far. Skyauction has occasionally had availability up to the week before Christmas but nothing for January. We have a backup reservation at Ft. Wilderness but I'm still hoping for a condo. Hope we both get lucky!
