Anyone flown out of Atlantic City airport?

Has anyone flow from Atlantic City airport recently? If so how was the security and how long before your flight did you arrive? We are flying out of Atlantic City in a few weeks. Thanks for any info.

I fly from Atlantic City to Orlando at least 3-4 times a year. My most recent flight from AC to Orlando was over the Christmas holidays. The security at AC is more so than in the past in that everyone regardless of how young must show ID at the check in counter and then you show ID again when you go through the metal detector (where they were checking EVERY carry-on) and when you board the plane. Spirit is telling people to get to the airport 2-3 hours ahead of the scheduled departure time and we arrived 2 1/2 hours ahead in Dec for the 7:00 Am flight and proceeded to wait at least 2 hours once we had very quickly cleared security and got to our gate. I don't know if this is because this was the early flight or not, but I did not feel we needed to arrive quite that early. My next scheduled flight from Atlantic City to Orlando is for mid May but I am taking the afternoon flight so I still plan to arrive at AC airport 2 1/2 hours prior but if it is the same as it was for our early AM flight in Dec and I breeze through security and then just sit there. then for my next scheduled flight in Sept I am going back to my usual way of arriving at the AC airport 1 1/2 hours prior to departure.

How was the parking situation over Christmas? I haven't flown from AC since the new lots.

We always get dropped off, so I can't comment on the parking but I do know that now they charge you for parking so maybe it is easier to get a spot.

DH travels out of AC often on business - says that the lots seem much less crowded - not sure if it's post 9/11 or the new charge - at least I won't have to wheel my luggage through the gravel!

Do they have any food concessions in the AC airport? I haven't been there in 18 years. I have a flight from there in April.

There is one food concession stand on the 2nd floor where you go to get to your departing gate. It is right at the top of the escalators you can't miss it--like you could miss anything at AC's airport it is so small! LOL!! They have breakfast sandwiches, hamburgers, fries. sodas, bottled juices, etc. It is not the greatest food and of course it is airport prices but it isn't bad and it is the only game in town at the AC airport.

Thanks I guess I'll stop at McDonals or BK for some thing on the way to the airport. This is going to be an interesting trip and the first time I am flying since 9/11.
