***Annual Holiday Recipe Exchange***...CLOSED!!

Holidays are approaching!! Time to start all that special baking and cooking. :coffee:

This is the 6th!! Annual Holiday recipe exchange! One of my pesonal favorites ::yes::

The exchange is for AT LEAST FIVE tried-and-true recipes. Family favorites served at holiday time...or just anytime of the year. AND at least TWO "extra" items. These can be kitchen related or holiday (Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas-time holidays) related or a combo of the two :yay:
The format of the recipes is up to the sender. They can be printed, typed, handwritten....on paper, recipe cards or any imaginative way you come up with.

Sign-ups will be until 10-8. Names will go out that day.
Mail-by date is 10-15!
We will have a $10 MINIMUM on this one (that would be for the "extras".....you can include more than 2 extras that add up to this amount).

I had such a great time with the Fall/Autumn Exchange (my first) - and this new one is totally up my alley :) . I love to cook and have so many recipes handed down from my Grandmother.

My mother (who passed away a few months ago) was a great cook as well, but never wrote down her recipes. I've been trying to duplicate them as best I can.

I'm here, but I am embarrassed to admit that I am a little confused. I understand that recipes are exchanged, but would you mind telling me what else goes in the packages? I would like to participate but I want to make sure I know what I should put in the box. We are also leaving on OCT 11th for Disney so I need to make sure I would be able to get the box together in time.

Hi Nancy.......kitchen or recipe related items.....so utensils, cookie cutters are always seen a lot. Holiday kitchen decorations....like serving bowls, mugs, placemats. Or holday wall hangings. Ingredients for the recipes.....chocolate chips, coconut, or something in your recipe that might be a bit unusual.
Spatulas, tongs, spoon rests, etc. Cupcake liners. All have been seen in past exchanges.
If you are leaving for vacation, just let me know and I can accomodate several people with names early. I can get a few out by Thursday or Friday.

I am kick starting this with a quick holiday Reindeer Food recipe! :santa:

MAGIC REINDEER FOOD

Many families leave cookies and milk for Santa. But what about his reindeer?
Magic Reindeer Food lays a glittering path to guide the reindeer on Christmas Eve.

In a small zipper food storage bag or empty shaker container, mix:

1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup red or green sugar crystals (for cake decorating)

Be sure to include this little poem with each package.

Be sure to take this magic food and sprinkle on the lawn,
On Christmas, Santa's reindeer travel miles before the dawn.
The smell of oats and glitter path will guide them on their way
And you'll wake up to Santa's gifts next morn on Christmas Day!

I handed these out to neighbor kids one year at a holiday event our community held. The ducks the next morning were all over on people's front yeards chomping away. :rotfl: They must love sweet oatmeal. :lmao:
