you can do emh from hilton at walt disney world, just got back yesterday, had a rate of 92 dollars per night, to be objective, hilton looked very 70's, but the heavenly beds were heavenly, there are 7 places to eat in the hilton but there so expensive , you'll have to take out a small loan, and forget room service, the cheese and fruit platter for one was 25 dollars and 49 dollars for 2, we stayed at royal plaza in april and prefer it , the exception besides the pool theres really not much to do at either resort, there are disney stores in both hotels, also stayed one day this trip at pop what i liked about that was there were life jackets for the kids to use in the pools and the pools were heated. daughter and i talked on the way home about what we needed for trip and grandson who is 3, what we decided was, since he likes pools and doesnt want to spend all day in parks( he had more fun playing in fountains), we would spend the money for a nicer disney resort, with the ambiance and pools and it caters to kids so yeah you might spend 7 dollars for food, but thats a lot better than some of the prices offsite. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks everyone. I was just wondering because of the Mousesavers Hot Deal! :)

We stayed at the Royal Plaza in 2000 and the most inconvenient part of it....no Disney transportation.

The buses that do service the hotel did not use Disney bus stops so we had to walk a long way just to get ot the parks after the buses dropped us off. The MK buses dropped off at the TTC. All buses were slow and infrequent, stopping at every DTD resort on the way to and from the parks.

Based on my experience, I would not advise the RP if you are not going to have a car. We drove everywhere after the first couple of days. (I hope some of these issues have been addressed since our stay there.)

We cancelled our reservations with Royal Plaza and switched to Hilton (we go next week). The cusotmer service there seemed a bit lacking and you don't get early entry at RP.

If you have transportation of feel like taking a bit of a walk- -there are lots of cheaper places to eat just up the road off of Disney property. We rarely eat at the hotel. We really like Steak and Shake :thumbsup2

I booked the Royal Plaza through Mousesavers and got a decent price. Was the rate you're paying for the Hilton much higher than RP? I would like to stay at the Hilton but the prices were 3x's higher.

We got a great rate. We called Hilton directly. DH is also a rewards member. That may have helped???? Not sure......

But before we were given the Hilton - we were still gonna book for the $189. It was where we wanted to stay and suited the family better. I've always liked to location. We've done many "shoestring" Disney vacations. We wanted to relax this time and enjoy the entire stay. So for us, that was The Hilton. We felt like it was may be a hassle if we stayed at RP.

Did the Royal Plaza used to be the Wyndham Palace? We stayed at the Wyndham and thought it was real nice.
