Another great update. Glad you enjoyed your tour. I don't think that I would like to do a lot of the shopping either. If I am not getting a huge bargain I don't enjoy it.
There are good bargains to be found in the Caribbean on jewelry & electronics so I am told. Liquor is very cheap. I just don't like to shop that much.

Great update. I am trying to decided what excursion I want to do while at St Maarten and the Under Two Flags tour is one I am considering so it was nice to read about your experience on it. :thumbsup2
Glad I could help Leesa. It was a nice way to see alot of the island & they will drop you in Phillipsburg on the way back to the ship so you can look around there too.

thank you for the island pictures...how long do they give you on the island?

is the boat docked there all day?

I liked the island natives.
:thumbsup2
We were docked there until about 7pm I think. It doesn't take long to sail to St Thomas so that is why we were in port until that late. I thought the natives were cute too. I remember spending a week on St Thomas several years ago & there were iguanas everywhere.

AWESOME trip report Melanie!! I can't wait to read more!!!!
:welcome: hjensen. Glad to have you.

Great report, I am enjoying it and also the pictures.
:cool2: Hi fairfax.....I love getting new people. Stick around for more fun.

I will have an update tomorrow probably. Uploading video & pictures tonight.

Hi Jackie. I hate it too & that is why I went back & did the post just now in Word. Stupid thing.
We went to my Aunt's house..she hosts Thanksgiving every year. We had a nice meal & then sat around & talked. I took my cruise pictures & shared those. The family loved the Mary & Bert pictures. They also asked who are all these people in lime green shirts??????? :lmao: I don't think they really understood when I explained that you guys were my DIS family. :goodvibes:

And here I thought I was the only one who had problems like that! Am looking forward to reading it! Hope you and everyone else have a Happy Thanksgiving! :)
Had a nice one....ate too much. Now I am ready to relax on the sofa.

Happy Turkey Day everyone!

I didn't shop much but I think a cool Caribbean jewelry souvenir that I was going to look for in St Thomas or St John is a Carribean hook bracelet. I am not much of a shopper but maybe someone else can help you out.

So we left off with us having a rest up so that we could party like pirates tonight. We went to see Alfred & Seymour in the Walt Disney theatre & really enjoyed their show. They were just as funny as they had been in the adult show earlier in the week. They chased people up the aisles if they tried to leave. Hilarious.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0748.jpg
We enjoyed a drink of the day while watching the show. This was my favorite drink of the day. A pineapple mojito.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0743.jpg
Next we headed back to the room to transform ourselves into pirates. We happened upon all these scurvy pirates in the lobby.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0751.jpg
We went & had a chat with Peter Pan. He was great & sooooooooo Peter Pan. I really enjoyed talking with him. He even corrected Eric for calling the Magic a boat. Too funny.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/000_0005.jpg
We went to the Promenade Lounge to hang out until dinner & enjoyed another mojito & some yummy chips with salsa & guacamole. We saw Ducky Williams & his entourage in their pirate attire….they had great hats. I finally got up the courage to speak to him & let him know how much I had enjoyed his presentations & his story. I said it really proved that persistence pays off & he said “I don’t know about persistence, I tend to think it might be stubbornness.” Such a nice & humble man. It really was a thrill to get to meet him. A definite highlight of this trip was sailing with him.
Now it was time for dinner. We were in Lumiere’s again, but with the special Pirates in the Carribean theme dinner.
Bandanas & pirate menus.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0753.jpg
Our dinner companions were in the pirate spirit as well. I had asked the very first night if they were “dressing for pirate night”. I got some strange looks like they thought I meant we were going to come naked that night or something. :teeth: Mary & Ellis had bought special pirate t-shirts in St Marteen & Ellis’ was hilarious…it said “Surrender the Booty”. We still hadn’t met our other table mates, but the 6 of us had a nice pirate meal together.
Crab cake appetizer

Treasures of the sea-scallops & shrimp.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0756.jpg
We decided to skip dessert & head on up to the pirate party.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0763.jpg
We went up to Deck 10 starboard side to watch the festivities.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0766.jpg
Let’s get it started……..

Now it was time for Mickey to save the day……..

Seeing the fireworks out over the ocean is an awesome sight.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0789.jpg
Well, we had partied like pirates but we wanted to party some more. We decided we didn't want any dessert or food as we were still full from dinner so we skipped out on the pirate night buffet. We went back to the room & changed out of our pirate costumes & headed to Rockin Bar D for some Krazy Karaoke. I was supposed to sing with some of the girls……ahem Paula, but nobody else showed up so I ended up putting my name on to sing anyway & I don’t know what possessed me to do it. I think I was the last person & I sang a Rick Springfield classic (my other obsession besides Disney is Rick) & I am not sure I will ever do it again. I was pretty nervous, but I made it through it & was rewarded with a free shot.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0794.jpg
We came back after a fun filled night to find this very creative creature waiting for us.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0749.jpg
It was a very full & fun day.

Up next……It’s my birthday…….woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leesa I don't know how brave it was......more stupid I think. The DJ freaked me out even more....as I was singing he did a fog/smoke effect & then strobe lights. Good lord!!!!!!!!!!! My DH was sweet & said I sounded fine, but I felt ridiculous!!!! Next time, I will stick to watching.

Originally we had an excursion booked for today. We were supposed to go on the St John island tour, but found out that we would have to be up & clear customs by 6:45am, so it was a joint decision that we would do something different as neither one of us wanted to get up that early after we would be staying up late on pirate night. This surprised me when my DH brought it up for 2 reasons….
1) He doesn’t like to waste money & excursions are non-refundable.
2) He is a morning person & likes getting up early, but not so much on vacation.
So we had actually decided on Tuesday that we were going to skip out on our excursion. While we were in the gym on Tuesday, we stopped to find out what specials they were having in the spa. I booked a hot stone massage for myself for Wed at 10:00 am & the plan was relaxation instead of the excursion. We would meet up in the rainforest room after my massage.

So we got up at 7:30 to head to the Walt Disney theatre to clear customs. It was a pretty painless process, but it really was just a formality as the officers barely glanced at our passports & it really kind seemed ridiculous to us. We headed to Parrot Cay to eat breakfast—this was our only breakfast all week that wasn’t eaten at Topsiders. I still think Topsiders had a better selection…there we no Krispy Kreme jelly doughnuts at PC.

After breakfast, we decided walked around & looked at the island from Deck 10.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0811.jpg
We decided that we would at least get off the ship & go over to the tram to get a nice view of the Magic & St Thomas.
Eric has a little of the Captain in him..........:rotfl:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0802.jpg
We went over there, but there was a huge line & I was afraid that we would not make it back to the ship in time & I would be late for my massage, so we strolled around a little bit & took a few pictures of the Magic & then got right back on board.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0803.jpg
I look tiny in front of her....
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0805.jpg
It was amazing…we weren’t outside that long & we didn’t walk that far, but we were drenched in sweat from the time we were out there, so I had to take a quick shower before my massage.

I showed up at the Vista Spa a few minutes early & filled out their health questionnaire.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0824.jpg
Eric headed to work out & we agreed to meet up in the Rainforest Room later. I was expecting a female masseuse but was greeted by Eric from Poland. I must say that I was a tad bit freaked out because I have only ever had 1 other massage & it was from a woman in Jamaica & I am a tad bit modest/shy. Anyway, he took me to my room & we chatted about specific areas that bothered me & the goal for the massage for me & he left me to change—with the instruction to undress to my level of comfort which I thought was nice.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0826.jpg
I forgot all about being freaked out about 2 minutes into the massage. The warm stones & calming music had me so relaxed that soon I was about to go to sleep. This massage was HEAVENLY!!!!!!!! I would do this again in a heartbeat & it was a perfect way to pamper myself on my 40th birthday. I felt like a relaxed limp noodle when he was finished. He left me to get dressed & then came back with products that he thought would be helpful for me at home. I carry a lot of my tension in my neck & shoulders & I did end up buying the muscle ease oil & a calming lotion. I spent way too much money, but I have used both a few times since & they really do help. So feeling like a new woman, I went to the changing room & got in my swimsuit & robe & headed to the Rainforest Room. I got a couple of refreshing lemon & cucumber waters & took them in & there was my DH on one of the too die for heated recliners waiting for me.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0830.jpg
There was hardly any one else there….I think 2 or 3 other people & we really enjoyed our time here relaxing in the steam room & sauna but especially just relaxing in those loungers.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0828.jpg
TIP……….If you don’t want to go ashore stay on the ship & enjoy the spa. It is so much less crowded on port days & you can even save money on the treatments. I think my massage was about 40$ cheaper.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0831.jpg
After all our relaxing, we were starting to get a little hungry. We wanted to order room service since we hadn’t done that yet. We stopped by Goofy’s & got a little snack because we knew room service would take awhile.
We watched Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix while waiting for our food. Everything was good….but we especially enjoyed the All Hands on Deck cheese platter
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0834.jpg
A fajita sandwich & blt which we shared
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0836.jpg
The GIANT chocolate chip cookies-OMG these were so good.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0837.jpg
Great lunch. I had a few Halloween treats to give out to my fellow DISERS so we put those in bags & went fish extender gifting again. After that we decided to head up to Deck 9 & get a drink of the day. We sat at Signals & enjoyed a Witches Brew. It was a nice drink & seemed appropriate being that it was Halloween.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0838.jpg
Next up was a nap because we knew we were going to be up late tonight with all the Halloween festivities. We woke up & felt refreshed & ready to take on the night.
We wanted to go see Ratatouille so we headed on down to the WD theatre & grabbed a popcorn & drink & settled in to watch about Remy & his adventures in the culinary arts. It was a great movie & we really enjoyed seeing it.

Next update..........Halloween & dressing up is FUN!!!!!

Nice update, Melanie! Your spa day sounds really relaxing! We loved touring St. Thomas by open air bus - got to see the whole island, got some great pics, and then had time to shop and go up on deck and enjoy the view with a drink before we headed out. Tara........a day pass to the RFR is 15$ or for a week it's 75$. When you have a spa treatment booked, you don't have to pay extra for it. We used it again on Thursday as we had another treatment.

Costumes will be up next. I do love that you can have lots of different experiences from different people on the same cruise. That's why I like reading trip reports because they are rarely the same experiences & then you get to experience things you didn't do yourself.

I'm working on uploading pictures for the next installment. I hope to have it up late tonight or early tomorrow. We have a busy day today--Thanksgiving with DH family & dinner with mine tonight for my brother's bday.

OMG Melanie... sounds like you had a wonderful time. I am a WDW pro but have not been on the DCL. I was looking for info (oddly enough we want to cruise next Halloween, we go to MNSSHP EVERY year and celebrate our Nov. 1st Anniversary, 2008 will be 5 years so we want to take a Dis cruise too!!) I couldn't have found a more enticing TR! I read it all in one sitting and can't wait to get to Halloween night.
Being new to the DCL forums I have SOOO many question from your TR...Like the fish extenders, is that a common practice and do most cruises have a Dis. member meet up..I just LOVE meeting fellow dis'ers- they've becom some of my BEST friends. Oh, there are so many more ???'s
I totally hope that there is a dis'er as wonderful as you on MY cruise.

I am so happy that you had such a wonderful 40th birthday, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I can't wait to start planning!!!

And...the cheese plate looks so yumm!

We had the same heat experience in Nassau. We walked off and were back on the ship within 15 minutes! It just wasn't worth it! We barely made it past the ship before we were sweating to death.

I'm so glad you got to see Ratatouille! That must have been fun! We got to enjoy Meet the Robinsons and it is so fun watching the Disney movies on the ship!

:welcome: tberi. I am glad you have enjoyed so far. We  MNSSHP & it was great to be able to combine that with our cruise this year. The Halloween cruise for 2008 is a double dip so you would get 2 stops in Castaway Cay. We have it booked but plan to probably move it forward. I am not sure about the fish extenders....how popular they are, but it sure was fun having one & if you have a good Dis group then I am sure they will have them. It is pretty easy to find other diser's cruising with you..once you decide on a cruise just go to the meet section & find your cruise...if you don't see it then start a new thread. I will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Soon it was time to get ready for Halloween. We knew we would have to go to dinner dressed in our costumes as the Halloween costume contest would be starting at 10:15 & we had later dinner. So we headed back to the room & got into our costumes. I was so excited about this as we had been planning these costumes for months. I have always loved Mary Poppins & thought it would be a great costume & DH could be Bert. Finally it was time to become Mary. I put my hair up & pinned my hat to my head & we got dressed & headed out for our night of fun. Phillip was in the hall& he gave us 2 thumbs up.
I wanted to make sure we got down early enough to have some pictures taken. We had our portrait done on the white background which I thought would show off the costumes best.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/000_0001.jpg
We also did the ocean background & had our photo taken with Witchie Minnie. We started to get attention as soon as we walked off the elevators. We had people stopping us to take our picture which was really cool. It was fun to walk around & have people saying “Oh look it’s Mary Poppins.” At one point, we were in the lobby for pictures & the piano player was playing a whole medley of Mary Poppins songs which was too cool. I was singing & dancing along with my umbrella. We saw Ducky Williams & his group & we got a thumbs up from him on our costumes from across the room which made me feel great since he said he did a lot of character authenticity work in his job.

We made our way to dinner in Animator’s Palate.

Our only dinner companions for this evening were Brian & Robin who were dressed as a Haunted Mansion ghost couple. They looked awesome!!!!!
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0846.jpg
Mary & Ellis were dining at Palo & the other couple still hadn’t shown up yet & they were now “The Mystery Couple” to all of us. We had debated whether they were honeymooners or if they even existed. I did miss getting to see the show in AP-as we missed it for our Palo dinner, but it was cool even to just see all the drawing in black & white. We had fun chatting & watching Brian & Robin try to eat without messing up their make-up. Dinner was the master chef menu tonight & it was good.

I got a birthday cake tonight too along with a serenade from the servers lead by our head server Marco from Italy who said he was going to sing Pavarotti’s part.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0853.jpg
I had already ordered the peach flambe’ so we didn’t touch the birthday cake. We ended up never eating a bite of it even though Eric took it back to the room.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0854-1.jpg
After dinner, we headed to the atrium so we could enjoy the costume contest.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0862.jpg
We were noticed by the cruise staff right away & they kept pointing at us & smiling. I was hoping that we would be picked to compete, but I wasn’t sure. There were some really great costumes.

The Flintstones
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0865.jpg
After hanging out in the lobby for awhile, Oscar from the cruise staff came up & gave us a card & told us they wanted us to be in the contest for Most Disney. We were asked to wait over to the side & they got our names etc. We had fun getting photographed & chatting with a few of the crew members-most memorably was the piano player who had been playing the Mary Poppins songs earlier who sought us out to tell us how great we looked & how much he loved the movie.
The categories were Most Disney, Scariest, Funniest, Most Original & Best Group. There were 3 judges & they would decide the winners.
Most Disney was first & we went up to the stage with the other 2 contestants who were Tinker Bell & Jack Skellington. They were both awesome. They introduced us. We got a big yell from the crowd & I am sure some of that came from our DIS buddies that were there. Brent the cruise director asked for our card & Eric had put it in his pocket so I said “It’s in his pocket.” Brent started laughing & said this is a family ship ma’am. Too funny!!!!
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/MaryBert1.jpg
The judges made their decision &…………….
WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
Here we are when they announced the winner....I was looking up at the judges.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/MaryBert3.jpg
These great pictures are courtesy of twicks aka Tara:hug: who took them from the crowd. I am so glad she did because obviously we wouldn’t have had any pictures of us up on stage.
We were thrilled to have won & we got 2 cute trophies & a big box of Hershey’s Kissables.
We watched the rest of the contest & cheered on our favorites.
Scariest was won by a couple that were dressed very similar to our tablemates Robin & Brian as a Haunted Mansion couple.
Funniest was won by a confused grandmother (who had on all kinds of different sports team stuff like she couldn’t decide who to cheer for)
Most original was won by a guy who had an amp on his feet & a guitar…you would have had to see it. It sounds silly but was pretty cute.
Best group went to the Adams family.
It was great fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How cool to win on my birthday. I knew our costumes were good & that we were unique & classic Disney, but I really didn’t think we would win. It was the cherry on top of my birthday sundae.

We stayed in our costumes & headed on over to Rockin’ Bar D. When we walked in we heard people yelling at us & saw waving arms. There was a table of our special DIS friends that wanted us to join them. We went on over & sat down with Paula, Kim, Chris & his wife Hazel & we had a blast hanging out with them that night. We drank a few more witches brews & watched the juggler/comedian-who balanced a bowling ball on his face & used a paddle ball in some VERY INTERSTING ways placed in a VERY INTERESTING place. Our little group was saying funnier things than he was & we all kept laughing. We were having our own little party & I am sooooo surprised he didn’t pick on us.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0868.jpg
After the comedian, the dancers came in & did their Michael Jackson thing…..the did a few songs & did Thriller which seemed appropriate on Halloween.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/th_100_0872.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/?action=view&current=100_0872.flv)
After that our DIS friends left us to go collect their kids & we stayed & danced on to 80’s music until after 1am. We must have been some sight out there shaking it dressed like Mary Poppins & Bert. I wish I had a picture of that.
Alone in the lobby again, we tried to get a picture of me with my umbrella opened. DH took like 4 or 5 & they all turned out blurry. Not sure if it was the motion of the ocean or the Witches Brews.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0884.jpg
We were greeted by this cute monkey wearing my sunglasses & Eric's boxers when returned to our room.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0885.jpg
Here are the trophies we won.

I layed the ground work for the cruise this weekend, her parents said they watched a special on the Disney cruise, and her dad said he would love to do a cruise, just not sure if he wants to do a disney one, said he wonders if there would be to many kids. I ensured him that all cruises have kids, and all the areas that kids can go to, and about the adults only pool, and other areas, and i think i might be winning that battle.

Her brother wants to do the 7 day one, i am potitioning them for a 4 nighter, and a few days in the world.

After all our Halloween excitement, we slept in a bit on Thursday. We went up to Topsiders & had breakfast. I know I had another Krispy Kreme jelly doughnut. Yummo!!!!
We spent some time hanging out on verandah after breakfast just watching the ocean & relaxing.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0894.jpg
We had the exotic rasul treatment booked in the spa for 11am. We headed up to the spa & Eric had to fill out the form but I didn't since I had done one earlier in the week. They took us to the changing rooms & then our therapist took us to our treatment room & told us about all the products & then left us alone for our 50 minutes. For those that don't know..this is a do it yourself treatment. The room has a main room with a small shower & then a steam room that is as hot as h-e double hockey sticks....no really, it is that hot. So the purpose is to slather yourself/each other with all these concoctions & then sit in the steam room to rid your body of toxins & then rinse them all off & feel refreshed & revived. You get a big bowl of exfoliant & a big bowl of mud & then there is a basket of other products to use on your face. It is just a lot of fun experimenting with all the lotions & potions & my skin has never felt so soft. It is hard to sit in the steam room long though because it is so hot.........intense. Thank goodness for the buttons on the side that will spray you with hot water. Our 50min was up way too fast & we giggled when we got the 10 minute warning knock. Refreshed & baby soft, we hung out in the Rainforest Room for a short time..but unlike yesterday when it had been so nice & uncrowded, there we lots of people today, so we didn't stay too long. I am sure we would have had to wait forever for the warm loungers…we sat on the warmed bench today whereas before we could have sat in the loungers forever. Word to the wise…….go to the SPA ON PORT DAY.

We headed to lunch because after all that sweating in the steam room we were famished. I had more pizza & Eric had a hot dog. We didn’t want to eat a lot because we had afternoon tea in Palo at 3pm…so it was just a quick snack.
We headed up to deck 10 to walk around & feel the breeze & quickly ran into our DIS buddies-Kim, Paula & Chris again. We sat around & chatted & had a great time. It was so great all week long going around the ship & running into friends that you could stop & chat with. We hung out there for awhile & watched the kids & one of our fellow DISer’s exercise with Goofy. We also watched the Ice Carving demonstration & that was really interesting. I couldn’t believe how fast he was able to make a beautiful, gleaming eagle. I had left the camera in the room while we went to the spa, so I don’t have any pictures of any of this. We had a lot of fun & I couldn’t believe how quickly the time passed & we had to say good bye to our friends so we could go get ready for tea.

We love having afternoon tea. It is a real treat for us & we seek out team rooms when we travel, so we were excited to have tea in Palo. It was a nice & relaxing time.
Palo is just so beautiful..
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0908.jpg
We had a lovely window table.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0897.jpg
We were served lovely sandwiches with our tea….I had the Masella black tea & Eric had the cassis tea. The sandwiches were cream cheese & cucumber, chicken curry & Norwegian prawn sandwiches…we got an extra prawn sandwich in place of the salmon which we don’t like.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0899.jpg

Tray of sweets
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0901.jpg
The finale was a cherry triffle-the big chocolate curl on top was too die for.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0902.jpg
It was a lovely afternoon tea service & one that we really enjoyed.
The other coolest bathroom on the Magic is at Palo.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0907.jpg
After tea we went to the shops & did a bit of browsing….we purchased the Magic Christmas ornament & a few things for people at home & we also made a special purchase of some artwork…….I show it to you guys at the end of the report.
We went & changed into comfy clothes & went to the Quiet Cove pool & enjoyed a drink of the day…..a Panama Hat today. It was nice to sit out & enjoy the day. We went back & relaxed on the verandah until time to get ready for the show.

Next up……Disney Dreams & who finally showed up?????

Thanks, I knew you would be proud. That is what i figured, I think I can get that 4 nighter in. DW and I were talking last night, and I might try and get another trip in this June coming up. The only cost for the June trip would be the plane tickets, because we can stay with my parents and we already have tickets. Dad will pick up the food and everything. DW will be on maternity leave, WDW here we come. I think I can pull it off, I can use it as DW's birthday gift for an excuse, I am full of Disney surprises.

Thats okay, some suprises are okay to spoil. Thank you very much, you are almost caught up to us, keep reading, and come and join the party. I am sure he will also, he was going crazy on Thanksgiving walking around and showing off DW's belly to everyone that he could, he is gonna be so happy. He told me that he wants to do trial runs from there house to ours and figure out the best way to get to the hospital when she is having the baby. He is so funny when he is talking about those things with us.

Disney Dreams was number one on our agenda. We headed out to the Walt Disney theatre. Brent introduced the show, after giving us the news that we might not make it in to Castaway Cay tomorrow because of the weather. The captain was going to reserve making the decision until in the morning & they would let us know early what was going to happen. So now that we were all bummed out, better start the show.
I  this show. It is sooooo Disney & so magical. It is the story of Anne Marie & she is visited by Peter Pan. P.S. These pictures were all taken without a flash. :goodvibes:

I had wild forrest mushroom soup.....really good, baked lobster tail.....too die for & cherries jubilee which it said they would flambe' at table side but they didn't. It was still yummy.
I didn’t take any pictures of my food tonight, but it was really good. The 6 of us were sitting there, when all of a sudden we were joined by the Mystery Couple who had been missing in action all week. They were from Florida & he works for DVC. They were not newlyweds…we told them we had decided they were, but said they had been dining at Palo all week. Now, I don’t know if they had connections or what, but I had no idea you could do this. Plus, I don’t think I would want to eat there every night, it would seem like that would make it less special & it’s awfully rich food. I also wouldn’t want to miss out on the regular restaurants. :confused3 Anyway, we were a full table for the first time. We all chatted & ate our yummy food.

After dinner, we went to Rockin’ Bar D as per ususal & watched the variety show with Freddy Fusion. He was pretty funny & did some pretty neat tricks.
Here he is with his pal Bill the duck.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0959.jpg
After the show, it was time for One Hit Wonders. This was a new theme night & it was fun. They would play a part of the song & ask who knew the song & artist & if you were right you got a shot. Trent came out in the crowd & would pick whoever was singing & dancing. We both got picked & got ours right…..Ice/Ice Baby & We’re Not Gonna Take It. We stayed after & danced to the Elite Band’s music & Eric & our table mate Ellis got pulled up on stage to the do a little dance for the crowd-to be exact they were supposed to do the MC Hammer Dance to "Can't Touch Dis". It was funny & cute to watch my DH try to do this & giving up & letting go & just doing whatever dance he was comfortable doing....go Honey!!!!!!!!!!
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0962-1.jpg
It was too funny. I have video of both of them, but I fear I might get kilt if I posted that. It was another great night at Rockin’ Bar D.

I can’t say enough about the cruise staff…they are great & you really feel like you get to know them over the week. Natalie from England called me Mary Poppins the rest of the week after Halloween & it was nice to be recognized & greeted. Trent was very good at getting people involved in the parties even on nights when there weren’t as many people. DJ Mike was great as well…..playing lots of good music. We stayed after & listened to Elite band again…..they were not that great…the band was good but the girl singer left a lot to be desired.
Elite Show Band……..with funky wigs.

Yeah, they weren't really too friendly seeing as how they didn't really seem to want to eat with us, so I didn't ask for any favors.
They had lots of other choices for dinner, but when I can have lobster & not have to pay for it..I'm all about that.
A few more updates to go.

I forgot to post this one. It was Day 7.....this was our picture from Semi-Formal night. I really like this one...maybe my favorite picture besides Mary Poppins & Bert.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/000_0003.jpg

So we woke up to the sounds of Brent at 7am announcing that as feared the night before we were not going to be able to dock at Castaway Cay because of the winds & weather. The captain was heading us to Nassau instead & there would be some tours available at the shore excursion desk if people were interested. We looked at each other, poked out our lips & turned over & went back to sleep.

We woke up & we were in Nassau.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0994.jpg
We had both been there before & decided we would just stay on the ship…in retrospect I wish we had gotten off & gone over to Atlantis which we have never done, but we didn’t. We didn’t even get off to take pictures of the Magic & Wonder docked side by side….I did take a few from Deck 10 though. This was the only cool part of being diverted from Castaway Cay. We heard varying things from this hadn’t happened in 3 to 6 years. The crew was excited & that was cool to see. We watched a few reunions & lots of hugging going on in between the 2 ships.
2 Disney ships side by side.....
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0997.jpg
We went up to Topsiders for breakfast & then spent quite a bit of time strolling around Deck 10.
Here we are with the Wonder in the background

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_0993.jpg
Eric decided to head to the gym & I decided I wanted a nap—all the late nights had caught up with me at this point. After that, we went up to deck 10 & hung out for awhile visiting with DIS friends again. We had a drink of the day which was an apple madras today at the Quiet Cove pool. We really didn’t have a very active day. We just kind of enjoyed relaxing knowing that this was the last day of the cruise.
We hung out at the Goofy pool in the shade of the gazebo & watched Disney Music Trivia & then Elite band came out to perform. We had a Midori Colada too.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_1004.jpg
We headed up to Deck 10 to watch us sail away from Nassau. We stopped & watched with fellow Diser Chris & his lovely family. We had a good time watching the crew waving at us from the Wonder…we even saw Donald Duck come out there waving.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/th_100_1010.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/?action=view&current=100_1010.flv)
The horns were blowing “When you wish upon a star” back & forth & that was really cool.
Here we are sailing away from the Wonder.

Awesome update! Thanks for sharing the "reunion" pics of the Wonder - how fun! I have always thought it would be fun to have both ships in one place like that - can you imagine how jealous the Carnival folks were? You should have gone over to Atlantis! It is really fun! I was just there Oct 7 - 11 for a company trip. I got to see the Wonder parked outside my balcony! Next time - do Atlantis - it really is paradise, only the service is nowhere near Disney service! :thumbsup2

I loved your picture on semi-formal night. I feel for you not stopping at Castaway Cay. That happened to us on our first cruise. We woke up on New Year's Day and looked out our port hole and saw only ocean. Not a good sign. They just turned it into a day at sea for us. I'm happy for you that you booked again. Looking forward to the next cruise makes coming home a little more bearable.

A "special" cruise DCL does from time to time with 2 stops at Castaway Cay - one at the beginning and one at the end of the cruise.

There are scheduled "meet & greet" times in the Navigator and on the electronic boards in the main lobby. There are also unexpected sightings from time to time.

Thanks for the info, more questions have arose now, Do you just look at the cruise page, to see when that special cruise is offered, or do you have to be in the know somehow, Does it mean that it will be longer than a 3 or possibly a 4 day cruise?

Yes - check the Special Cruises list - but no, it doesn't necessarily mean longer than 4 days. For instance, right now there are a number of 4-night; double-dip cruises listed for May through August 2008; as well as the 7-night Costa Maya cruise (Sept through Dec) . They're also showing a 5-night double dip for 9/1/2008.

Lots of choices to have fun - twice!!

This is Freddy Fusion......he ended up with his whole body inside this balloon.

I got very teary eyed in the scene with the couple who was reflecting over their cruise & then the princes & princesses came out & “So This Is Love” was playing. I am a big softy & this really got me…besides I walked down the aisle to “So This Is Love.”

I continued to be all misty & had quite a few tears streaming down my face by the end of the show.
When Tinker Bell pixiedusts the ship……..oh good grief. :sad2: My DH was elbowing me & telling me to dry it up.

At the end there were all the characters & more fireworks. What a great show to end the cruise.

Dinner tonight was back in Lumiere’s. Tonight’s menu was Til We Meet Again.

I had the crawfish & lobster bisque.

Then the florida citus & spinach salad followed by the Grilled Beef Tenderloin.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_1056.jpg
For dessert I had the deep dish apple cranberry pie-yummo.

Our mystery couple was missing again---good grief. :rolleyes1 Dinner was good. Brian was sick this night so we were just 5 this night. We enjoyed our dinner & exchanged email information. I wanted to make sure we were finished in time to be in the lobby for Til We Meet Again & our server team did a good job of making sure we did. We gave them their envelopes this night & a box of Merci chocolates to thank them for a job well done.

We went up to Deck 4 & stood to the side so we could watch the characters come out for their final farewell.

The characters spread out all over the lobby & it gave kids & adults a final opportunity for pictures & autographs. We just stayed put & watched all the fun. At the end, they sang “M-I-C K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E” & waved goodbye. Sad but a sweet way to end.

So one of the many reasons I love Disney is their attention to detail. This is true at the parks & they have carried that over to the cruise line of course. Everywhere you look there are special Disney touches that make you smile & realize how hard they work at making sure everything is special & just right.
Case in point.......great artwork is scattered all over the ship.
In one of the stairways I found tis great picture of my hero Walt Disney.

So after our very rocky night we awoke & we were home back in Port Canaveral. We had the latest breakfast seating in Lumiere's. We got ready & headed up there for a final farewell to our servers & tablemates. I ordered only fruit & a muffin. Our servers were a bit frazzled so everyone else had their breakfast & there I sat waiting for a pitiful muffin which they finally realized & brought me one. Our mystery couple made their final appearance....:confused3. Oh well!!!!!!!!!! We said our goodbyes & headed on off the ship knowing that we had another cruise booked, just not exactly sure of the date we would be back BUT WE WOULD BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/Disneygrl36/100_1117.jpg
We got our bags easily in the terminal & headed out to find the Delta counter so we could check in at the curb for our flight & get rid of our luggage. This was a great perk. We got our boarding passes & everything so when we got to the airport all we had to do was go through security & to the gate. Not bad. :thumbsup2
We got on the DCL bus & soon we were back to MCO. We had a 12:40 flight so we didn't have a long wait. We headed through security & saw a couple of our Dis friends heading off on their journey home as well....it was nice to see familiar faces at the airport....we said goodbye to Sean & Christine & headed off to our gate. The flight to Nashville was uneventful & we landed safely...gathered our luggage & went to find our jeep in the same spot we had left it over a week ago.
We had a 3 hour drive back home but it went by fast & we did stop & eat at Cracker Barrell which was really good after all the fancy food we had eaten all week.
We got home around 6pm & were greeted by Bella who was very happy to see us.
We were home & tired but so happy after such a great trip.

I can't wait to go back on our next cruise...........

Coming up.........favorite things & a sum up of the journey followed by Christmas at our House

Melanie,

Thanks for a great diversion on this crummy, crummy day here in North Carolina. We just moved up here from Weston, FL, and not only am I homesick, I am nursing a bad cold. What a great way to get lost in your TR! Thanks for letting me sail with you. It's been a long 8 months since our Eastern Magic. My own TR is lost somewhere here.

Tammie.....it might be awhile before our next Disney trip. The next cruise will probably be Oct 2009 but we might be doing a California trip next fall & that will definetly include a trip to the motherland...aka Disneyland & I would definetly write a trippie about that.

If my memory serves me correctly Jennifer, it was over on the wall in a pleixglass display area between the guest services desk & the shore excursion desk. I think.......it is really cool. I have another picture that isn't as close up. I will post it when I get home from work later.

In summary, this trip really was a great way to celebrate my 40th birthday. I did not think one time about turning 40 because I was having too much fun & really enjoying all the activities onboard the Disney Magic. I highly recommend it!!!!!!!!!

Highlights of the trip........so many!!!!!!!!!
Winning the Halloween costume contest for Most Disney on my 40th birthday dressed as Mary Poppins & Bert.

Getting to meet Don "Ducky" Williams & winning one of his drawings.

Getting to know DIS buddies before the trip here on the DIS & then meeting them onboard & having so much fun hanging out with such great people. It was so nice to see familiar faces all around the ship--for planned things & just running into people. I think we have formed some real true friendships & I look forward to cruising with my DIS buddies again in the future.

Spa time........spent together in the Rainforest room & having a hot stone massage on my Birthday.

Watching Disney shows in the beautiful Walt Disney theater & getting all misty.

All our wonderful meals at Palo...dinner & tea for us & my DIS ladies Brunch.

Hanging out in Rockin' Bar D & getting to know the cruise staff.

Seeing the Wonder & Magic side-by-side.

There were really no bad things except the rocky waters/weather/sea conditions, but overall they really didn't bother us. Our only disappointment was in not getting to Castaway Cay.

It was a trip of dreams & wishes come true & I cannot wait to sail upon the beautiful blue sea with my wonderful husband & hopefully some DIS friends again soon aboard a lovely Disney ship--because really is there any other cruise line where you can dress up like a pirate & Mary Poppins all in one week?

Until next time.......
Mary & Bert bid you a fond cheerio & for good measure I hope you found this trip report at least in part "practically perfect in every way" because that is exactly how I felt about this trip.

We are looking at NCL for Hawaii but we don't get to dress like pirates that's for sure. It seems my measuring stick is the Magic/Wonder!
Having a Halloween birthday has always been interesting. When I was little everyone thought my bday parties were Halloween parties. As I grew up & got 2 baby brothers when I was in my early teens, we always had to go trick or treating with them on my birthday. That birthday celebrated at Disney was one of the best, but I think this one might top it, because we get to go to a Halloween party & dress up in costume which I have only gotten to do once in the recent past.
I love your TR so far even though I am only on page 2! I too have a halloween birthday and my mother had costume parties when I was younger. When I was older, my brother had to be taken out trick or treating also. I have had two great birthdays at Disney MNSSHP but after seeing your pictures, a halloween cruise would be nice!

Hope everyone is having a nice New Years Eve. We went out for a very, very nice French dinner & will be toasting in midnight with a nice bottle of Rosa Regale ( a champagne we discovered at Epcot's Food & Wine Festival a few years ago.)

My DH and I have been on an Eastern before in April and we are DVC members and we decided to use up our 2008, 2009 and borrow some from 2010 to bring my entire family 11 of us on this trip and since Halloween is our favorite Holiday I booked it!! Thanks again for the best report ever.
So sorry you missed the Castaway Cay, this is so my favorite part of the cruise I sure hope it was a fluke about the weather and your trip and not the norm instead, my family have never done a Disney cruise so I have been bragging about the island how it is the best, but as every one says, you just can't go wrong on a cruise with Disney!!pirate:

I am so glad that you enjoyed my trip report. Halloween aboard the Magic was just the best!!!! Make sure to dress up as it really was alot of fun walking around in costume. I am sure I am in lots of people's pictures because we had complete strangers stopping us to take our picture.
Taking the whole family will be great.
Make sure that you find your cruise thread too & get to know people ahead of time. It was great fun meeting up with people that I had chatted with for months ahead.
I think it was probably a fluke with the weather & I will keep my fingers & toes crossed that this doesn't happen on your cruise. We were bummed to miss Castaway Cay but seeing the 2 ships side by side was really cool.
We are DVC members too & we are coming up your way for vacation in May to TopNotch at Stowe. :woohoo:

Hey Melanie:flower3: thanks for the tips!! My daughter and I have been brain storming about costumes for a group, she loves doing Halloween so I am sure she will come up with something cool.
Wow coming to VT in May that is Great:woohoo: Stowe is a beautiful town with lots to do, don't forget to take time to visit Ben & Jerry's a really nice tour. We don't live too far from Stowe we are in Montpelier the capital. VT is really a very rural state (will probably need to rent a car if traveling out of Stowe) but many interesting places to see. Hope you have fun!!
