When you get a preferred view room from the BoardWalk what are the chances that you will be able to get a Boardwalk View when requested???? Were hoping for a 1 bedroom! Any info would be appreciated.... Also if anyone has stayed with a boardwalk view how did you like it??? Or any other preferred views for that matter...

We got Boardwalk View last year during the Food & Wine Festival. We don't own at Boardwalk, so I had to waitlist. We were on the 4th Floor, Crest 'o the Wave section.

Boardwalk Views are approximately 20% of the building. Preferred views are about 60%. Standard Views are the other 20%. That means about 25% of the preferred views are Boardwalk views. They tend to go first, which means that its highly dependant on how early you are able to book

There are two categories of Preferred View - Boardwalk view and Pool/Garden View.

You know when you make your reservation which one you get. If there are no BW view rooms available when you call, you can waitlist.

The above assumes you are a DVC Member (or a renter) paying points for your stay.

Boardwalk view rooms are not available to cash guests - they are reserved for those who pay points.

If you request a BW view and it is available you will get it. Getting a prefferred view means that, prefferred not boardwalk view. Last trip we had a 5th floor BW view. We loved it. My DD would get up in the morning and sit out on the balcony drawing pictures of Epcot.........can't wait to get back.

If you request a BW view and it is available you will get it. ....Again, this is when you are making the reservation. If your confirmation letter says you have a PV - Pool/Garden unit, you will not get a Boardwalk view unit. Requesting one on your PV-Pool/Garden reservation will not help. You would need to waitlist for the category and hope for pixie dust.

I'm sure that is what browniemtb meant. But because we generally use request in a different context and I'm not sure which the OP meant, I thought it better to be very clear for the "newbies".

Yes, I agree. I just booked our first trip as members, a couple of weeks ago. I requested Preferred View and then the CM asked me if I wanted a Boardwalk View or a Pool/Garden View. Of course, I opted for the Boardwalk View.

Our confirmation came in the mail about 10 days later and it confirmed all of this.

We can't wait!!

Have you reserved a one bedroom?

I can tell you that we did get a 1-BR Boardwalk View reserved at the 9-monthish mark. Sorry, should have included that.

Thanks Carol for clarifying my post. I did mean that you need to book either a BV or PV.....

Just back from our F & W weekend. Wanted to let folks know we stayed in what for us was an unexpected BW view. I had made the BW view reservation months ago, requesting an upper floor. We ended up in the ground floor studio next to the DVC preview center, just down from Jelly Rolls! We didn't have neighbors until Saturday night.

Remember that while BW is a booking category, there can still be surprises about what floor you're on!

The Boardwalk front desk CMs seem to delight in giving us a room that goes out of its way to NOT meet any location requests we have....if we want high floor, its ground floor. If we want close to the elevator, we are walking down the hallways. Still, we've been happy with what we've gotten, but I never put much stock in room requests.

Since boardwalk view is a different category, are the points also different?

They are the same number of points as preferred view (or any room at VWL or BCV). Standard view rooms are less points. Making BW View and Standard View rooms bargains - and you can see why we give the "they book fast" warning.

Just got back from 4 nights at BWV in a 2-bedrrom with a boardwalk view! We loved it! Nothing like sitting on the porch in the morning with a cup of coffee looking at Spaceship Earth! Or sitting on the porch at night watching the fireworks from Illuminations (we were on the 3rd floor)! Enjoy!

Just to clarify so if we do decide to give it a shot next trip... I was under the impression you either got prefered view or standard and thats it. And you'd just put in a request for boardwalk view. But if i am understanding everyone correctly than when you make your reservations they'll be able to tell you then if you can get a boardwalk view room or not??? And if they say yes you WILL definitly have one??? (the floor and stuff is up in the air i understand.) Thanks so much for the information on this. It'll be a huge help to me. Other reviews are also welcome! tips about the resort its self???

I made a 1 BR reservation this past spring for our September stay, and I requested a boardwalk view during the reservation process. I wasn't asked about the preferred vs. boardwalk view options, and our confirmation did note BW view. When we arrived, we got a 3rd Floor BW view room above the Big River Grille & Brewing Works. You definitely should request this view if you can spend the points, it's worth it!

Other reviews are also welcome! tips about the resort its self???There are three booking categories:
1) Standard View
2) Preferred View - Boardwalk View
3) Preferred View - Pool/Garden View

The last two categories cost the same number of points. If you want a boardwalk view room, you need to book a "Preferred View - Boardwalk View" room, subject to availability. So you will know at the time you book whether or not you will have a boardwalk view. In other words, it is a booking category, not just a request.

I just called 7 months out day-by-day for my May 3-10 trip & they didn't have a single studio or 2 bed that was BW or Standard view. :sad2: All they had was preferred water/pool view.

The CM told me to definitely ALWAYS call day-by-day. She said that everyone calls dbd now & that's what their first hour of the day is, nothing but DBD callers! :scared1:

Will I ever get a BW view? :sad2: Off to wait list! Hurray!

For the best view of Illuminations, request 3rd floor or higher with your boardwalk view room.

For us, the walk to MGM or EPCOT was much faster than waiting/taking the boat. It took us 10 minutes to MGM and 5 minutes to EPCOT. The boat was nice to experience once, but I like to walk to both parks.

The boardwalk (and loop around the lake) is great for some early morning walking/running/exercise. That is if walking around the parks isn't enough exercise! :rotfl:

That's about all I can think of. Just enjoy your stay and your view!

MissMet, I just cancelled a 1br standard view for your dates yesterday! That is too funny!

We are going to get a two bedroom instead, and we are going to try for the AKL savanah view. Wish me luck in getting it!pixiedust: And best of luck to you in getting the room at BWV you want!

That is funny. Well, I'm leaving for SV AKV room in 27 days! I'm an owner at SSR & AKV. Wish I was AKV & BWV owner, though. Good luck in getting that room & thanks for sending me some good luck as well. I'm hoping because I'm on the waitlist at 7 months out I'll have more of a chance to get it.

Which are you most hopeful for? The BW view or the Std V? I have been on a wait list for the BW view since about the 10 month mark for our trip next week, it has not come thru and my wait list will expire tomorrow:sad1:

My fear is I will wish I was an AKL owner after we stay there, in addition to being a BWV and BCV owner! We already own a lot of points and there is no room for more:sad1:

I really want the BW view, but if I can't get that I'm annoyed I'm still paying the points for a preferred view when I couldn't careless if I'm staring at the parking lot or pool. That's the same to me. So I want BW, but if I can't get it I want standard, so I guess I'll waitlist both?

I know the feeling. That's where I'm at. I'm maxed out on points between SSR & AKV, but I'm dying to own at BWV. The only difference is I couldn't careless for SSR. When I first bought at SSR, it wasn't hard to get the room you wanted at any resort & it was a much better offer to buy at SSR. My parents had points & we never had an issue getting a room at BWV. Not anymore. It feels like since I purchased it's impossible to get the room your heart is set on. Quite the predicament.
