We're taking our first trip "home" next month and will have a 1BR at OKW. I want to use the washer and have in the past bought a bottle of washing machine liquid from walmart (we usually do lengthy stays in an offsite villa)- however we won't stay long enough to use it up so I was thinking of throwing a small box of these in my case:

Anyone know if they actually work in the US upright washers? I'd hate to break it!

I take the double packs of powder tablets always work fine as I am not sure of other powders and allergies so like to use our usual soap powder.

You get a start up supply of detergent on check in, and they sell the same packets in the OKW store, as well as in the vending machines.

I don't know about the liquid capsules, but I usually take a few of the solid tablets and they seem to work fine. I'd be worried that the liquid capsules would break during the flight and leak into my luggage!

Good point Hilary - I'll check out the solid tablets - I just want to take some of the same make we use at home as I have excema so wouldn't feel happy using the free stuff :)

Just double bag liguid tablets in ziplock type baggies before putting them in your luggage. I do this with any shampoo, laundry soap or perfume that i bring from home.
