Just pricing up some options for car hire in April - trying to work out if we can get cheaper car hire than paying for Virgin's insurance.

Floridacarhire.com is coming out at £298 for a 7-seater minivan for 2 weeks - the cheapest quote I had from anywhere else was £310 from usrentacar.

So, has anyone used them or got other suggestions (i've already tried airline network and uscarhire)

If you can get the car free with virgin and it's the insurance why don't you think about getting just an insurance policy? it around 100 pounds and lasts a year. We have done this many times and saved us a fortune.

Sam, I take it you mean through insurance4carhire? I did consider it and I know many people have used them with no problems but I am concerned about the disclaimer on their site which says it is not suitable for flydrives :confused3

We've used Yescarhire.com for the last few trips as they were working out cheapest for a 7 seater.

I can remember something about this a while back on these boards but im sure there was an explanation for it.
Start of last year we were going with mytravel (we cancelled later on due to a flight change) and when I called to ask if we could use this insurance with the free car I was told yes.

This is the same company that went bust a little while back leaving hundreds of travellers stranded without car hire, obviously under new management I would think.

If you do a search on here there was lots written about it.
