Hi,Can anyone tell me why UK DVC members can't enter any of the competitions that Disney run for members? We all pay Annual dues therefore we should be the same as US members.Has anyone asked Disney?

I am guessing it is due to the different laws in countries regarding prizes and competitions, which often excludes us from any prizes in the US except YOMD.

It is something to do with our living in the UK - may be UK law forbids it and that includes referrals.

This is taken from the Member website, Sweepstake rules:
Sweepstakes open only to members of Disney Vacation Club in good standing prior to August 15, 2007 who are legal residents of one of the 50 United States or District of Columbia or Canada (excluding Quebec), Mexico, Puerto Rico or the United Kingdom, and who are at least the age of majority in their state/province/territory/country (or "Jurisdiction") of residence at the time of entry.
Unless I'm missing something, seems like members in the UK are eligible :)

Stil think were not elegable just looked at winners, and on terms it says flights from usa citys only.If it had been open to uk they would have to have added flights from here as well

Ah right, I'll take your word for it Paul ;) So we can enter - and win - but provide our own transportation to the US? Mmmmm, slight disadvantage that :rolleyes1

It seems that, following complaints surrounding the YOMD sweepstakes (from which UK residents were initially excluded), we're now eilgible. The referral thing is annoying (since buying DVC last year we've referred at least six people who've gone on to buy), but that's down to UK laws surrounding timeshares, rather than Disney restrictions. :sad1:

I'm not sure if it's as simple as just being a UK law thing surrounding timeshares. As well as my DVC timeshare, I've also got one in Cornwall and get £500 everytime I refer someone (and they buy of course) so there is obviously no restrictions on that. Unless, it's a law surrounding international timeshares of course. Whatever the reason, it's not fair...............
I also entered the 'Win the night in Cinderella's castle' competition but don't want to even start thinking about how good a win a would be.:)
