We'll be here the week before Labor Day... and it's a complete surprise! (I can say it on here since no one else in my family is on the Dis!) My little sister & Jake don't even know we're going to Disney World, the whole trip is a surprise to them. My brother who's going on the trip with us & my Dad think we're staying at Pop Century. I'm still thinking of a way to surprise them with the news that we're staying here at the Poly!

GREAT PHOTOS!!! What kind of camera do have? Amazingly clear :)

Thank you. The camera's a Sony DSLR A550 and the lens an 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 zoom (but the more important factor is the tripod - the key to sharp and clear night photos even with a pocket cam!).

Haven't stayed at the Poly in a couple of years but still one of my favorites. BLT, BWV and WLV are all super to stay at but miss the Poly! Maybe next time!!! :tink:

Great photos there, remember first going to Orlando on the monorail and seeing this and thinking "Wow, would love to stay there sometime".................... don't think it'll ever happen right enough. :D

But then I was told this was only the concierge bldg. I really want a pretty view and a fairly short walk to the monorail or bus. I don't know if I should change my res. and just request another section. I don't know if it will be worth the money for MK view. I want a newly remodeled room, with 2 sinks in the bathroom. The only time I have stayed there they were renovating all around and our room was not very nice and fresh. It will only be me, 64 and my daughter 44 on this trip. We are not interested in the pools, could be too much noise at night. I just need some good advice from someone who knows a lot about the Poly. If I keep my MK view, which section should I request? Or which other bldg should I ask for.? Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hawaii is the club level building. Is that what you reserved? We booked a Theme Park View the year before last, and we stayed in Tahiti. I have to say, that I likely would not spend that extra money again for several reasons. Number one, if you want a fairly short walk, Tahiti or Hawaii are likely not the buildings for you. I felt it was a hike. Last year we stayed at Rarotonga. It was literally steps away from the Great Ceremonial House, monorail and busses. It did not however have the two sinks, but it did have a nice view. We requested a view that did not face the parking lot, so the view we got was of the quiet pool and the fabulous landscaping. We really liked it a lot. If two sinks are really important to you, you can try Tokelau. It is a little further away from the GCH, but does have the two sinks. Good luck! We love it at Poly!!

If two sinks is your major concern, you'll need to request one of the few rooms in Tahiti or Rapa Nui that have a dual sink configuration. These are the two newer buildings and the only buildings that have bathrooms with two sinks, and not all rooms have them. I'm not sure which rooms exactly, so there may not even be a MK view room with two sinks. Tuvalu is closer to the GCH and offers some very nice MK view rooms, but will not have any bathrooms with a double sink.

Sadly, neither Tahiti or Rapa Nui is a "short" walk to the monorail or bus stop. Although they are both rather close to the TTC, where you can go to get pretty much anywhere (except to another resort).

Honestly though, I don't find any of the walk times to be an issue when we stay there. There is nothing that we consider a long walk. But, that's just my opinion, some walks are definitely longer than others.

Tokelau has only one sink, at least my room on the third floor had only one. We did have a MK view though. From our balcony we only had to look to the right & the castle was right there. Its not a great view like Hawaii, but you can still see the castle. We had the quiet pool right in front of our view & we were close to the GCH, bus stop & TTC.

Hands down, Poly. The Polynesian is a resort. CR is just a hotel. At least that's how it is to me. The Polynesian has beautiful, lush grounds and is beautifully landscaped. CR is just a toaster shaped cement building that the monorail passes through. Just me 2 cents. :hippie:

Poly....We stayed at CR for a good long time - many years in a row. Just for something different, and because Poly was the one resort on the monorail we had never tried, we decided to change one year. We have stayed there the last 3 years. We love CR, don't get me wrong, but Poly just has that "relaxed, I am on vacation" feel about it. I am a lover of good landscaping and palm trees, and both abound at Poly. It's just very peaceful there.

With regard to two sinks/room in the bathroom, I can say this. First, I think, but am not sure, that some of the rooms in Tokelau have two sinks - but not positive. Second, even if you go with one sink, there is sooooo much counter space around that one sink, if your concern is room for your toiletries, there is plenty. We are three adults and one kid, and we have plenty of room. To me, the short walk is more important. We enjoyed the view at Raratonga.

the Poly is much more relaxed and spread out than the Contemporary. There is nothing like laying in one of the hammocks watching the castle and the monorails (I suggest a nice drink to go with it...)

It's just a different atmosphere... The contemporary hits me more like a hotel... the Poly is more like a resort... (and has dole whips at Capt. Cooks)

I remember taking the boat with my older sister to visit the Magic Kingdom. We've just booked 9 days at the end of August. I can't wait! We've stayed at POFQ and CBR, but the Poly and Contemporary have been on my bucket list. Can't wait until August!

These are from our very first stay at the Poly Sept/Oct last year. We have fallen completely head over heels for this resort, so much so that we changed from AKL to PR because we just couldn't bear not to stay here again this year.

We were in Room #3917 in 2009; my favorite room location in all the Disney Resorts we've stayed at! :thumbsup2 Just love this resort. :lovestruc Did you try the Pineapple/Macadamia pancakes and the Tonga Toast? BEST food in all of Disney World. Must have brunch at the Kona for the breakfast food no matter where we're staying! :tink:

You were in Tokelau too? It is a fantastic location and we are hoping to get the same LH this year. Kona breakfast is v good. I never tried the pineapple pancakes, but did try the regular ones and also the omelettes are divine! Can't wait to go back soon, September can't come sooner I tell you :)

Don't have a pic, but from what I recall it's sort of a "jacknife" sofa. Meaning it takes up no more room than it does when it's not ready for sleeping. The part to the wall, slides down to where meet the mattress area.
Maybe I'm wrong..as we didn't actually use it, but I reall it being similiar to that of jacknife sofa beds in rv's..that sort of thing. It is not a pull out sofa bed that unfolds into the room.

The back cushion doesn't come off. The sleeping surface is against the wall when folded up. There is a handle on the top of the back and you pull on that and it sort of flips over.

I can't figure out how to post a photo from my phone-sorry but if you look on allears they have a daybed photo where you can see the handle.

The cushion follows the daybed as it turns over. But don't panic, Mousekeepers turned ours every day or just made it as they made the other beds. DD11 slept 9 days on ours and she said she slept very well and never complained or asked to sleep in my bed.

We usually stay at the moderates but decided to try the Polynesian out since I have always wanted to stay there. It does cost a lot more but Im glad I did it. We really liked it ! We will probably be back at the moderates again next time :sad1:

We stayed at the Poly for the first time ever 2 weeks ago. LOVED it, and will absolutely be back. We requested & got a 3rd floor room - garden view in Tokelau, but the room featured a better pool view than the pool view AKL tried to charge us for last year!

Except for the lack of crowds and noise part. :laughing: Even the big Wyland Galleries display window is visually "quieter" than it was when we were there. I know October's supposed to be quieter than May, but, wow! what a difference. Although we've only been there in the evening, and I know a lot of the people wandering around were waiting on dinner at Ohanas. May I ask what time you took these?

I am loving this thread. We are heading to the Poly for 3 nights in August before heading over to BLT. We are all very excited about it since this will be my DH's and both DD's first stay there....I haven't stayed here since it was just the Poly and CR as resort choices. We originally booked a garden view but just upgraded to MK view (I couldn't resist) :cool1:. I cannot wait to look out my window and see Cinderella's Castle and Space Mountain :goodvibes. Now I am just trying to figure out which longhouse I should request (of course I know it is only a request)....I am leaning towards Tihiti but of course any longhouse they put us in will be fine.

Is it weird that I would be more excited to go to the Polynesian Resort again than Aulani in Hawaii? What's wrong with me, I look up Aulani & its like "oh, ok" then I look up POLY & I'm like "WOW, I smile" I have a serious problem.......:scared1: Either way my family will be checking in March 5-March 11, 2012 & I will post many pics & video's to my blog & here...Aloha:wizard:

Thank you for the link and I did get a response from CDN Friends of Pooh! The link had a couple of perfect shots to help narrow our search. I don't know how I missed them before. I've looked at that thread many, many times...info overload I guess. Thanks again!

Our longhouse, Rarotonga, was literally this close to the main building! Perfect for my limited mobility husband since the elevators are just about 30 feet beyond these doors.

We've stayed Concierge Level at WDW before but at least at the Poly I am glad we were in Raratonga; so close to everything: restaurants, monorail, shops, parking, pools etc. It was perfect for us! We never even missed CL!

I loved the Poly Christmas decorations this year; very calming and subdued. It was nice to come back to them after the bright ones found at the MK and MVMCP.
