You know what I haven't seen many pictures of, are nighttime pictures. Does anyone have any good ones of the resort at night? Like the volcano pool, the grounds lit up, the longhouses, the beaches/reflections, etc. That would be awesome :cool1:

I have a bunch of old ones. I'll see if I can get them hosted.

Love your photos...wondered is the side of the building that faces the quiet pool, or the opposite side of the building....just wondering. What room number did you have, and were you happy with the view, and accomodations?

It won't let me embed the photos, so here is a link to some pics I threw into an album. I posted these years ago, so someone might recognize them. I have a lot more but not to many more of the Poly views.

We just got back from the Poly. I really did not understand why everyone liked this hotel, but I understand now. WE LOVED IT. I could just stay there without going to the parks. So relaxing, comfortable and beautiful. We just loved it. We will be staying there again in the future.

Thanks so much for the photo of Stitch. My DD 6 princess: is completely hooked on the Disney Playhouse Channel...especially Lilo & Stitch. She looking forward to the brunch almost as much as Cinderella's Lunch, and keeps asking what Stitch will look like.

The last time I was at WDW, we took the monorail back to the TTC (we were staying off-site). My boyfriend-now husband could not take his eyes off the Polynesian as we rode past. He said, "Next time, I'm gonna stay here".

Now we have 2 children and are thinking about planning their very first trip to WDW.

Here's a question for all the experienced Polys...what longhouse do you suggest I try to book in?

LOVE LOVE LOVE the pics!!!

Check out the official Poly FAQ thread ... there are lots more photos and individual longhouse reviews. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1708173

There was also a thread a couple of days ago re: longhouse suggestions ... if you go back a couple of pages you should find it (I looked quickly but didn't see it right away ....). :thumbsup2

What a beautiful painting!!!!

These are photos I took at the Poly in 2006. We weren't overnight guest at the Poly (we were at the Contemporary) but had dinner at Kona Cafe one evening. Spending some time walking around the on the beach convinced me that we needed to stay here on our next trip!

I had my heart set on the Wilderness Lodge for my Disneymoon next May, but then I got the idea that the Poly would be less than $1000 more for 12 nights, and if our AAA agent gets us a good discount, maybe we could swing the Poly. :scratchin

After looking at ALL of these pics, I now have my heart set on the Poly! I figured that living in CA, we have lots of woodsy areas in the mountains 2 hours away from us, but we can't go to Hawaii any time we want! Now I just have to convince my DF that we could do this! :thumbsup2

Keep the pics coming. I love them! :goodvibes

I don't have any shots of the outside of the Poly, but we did have dinner at Ohana one night last January. We were all set to stay at POR in April, but I decided that packing 6 of us in one small moderate room sounded crazy! I upgraded us to the Poly so we could zip to and from MK on the monorail!

Here's most of our family enjoying dinner.

You can't tell from the picture, but we could see the Grand Floridian from our seats by the window.

We're going to have a garden view room, is this basically what they all overlook? does anyone else have any other views of what a garden view room overlooks?

Here are two views from the garden view rooms in Fiji. In Fiji you will overlook the marina if you're on one side, and a beach and the Grand Floridian if you're on the other. I was on the marina side and loved the water view. I've also stayed in Tahiti.

Fiji is one of the older buildings, so there is only one sink in the bathroom and the water quantity and pressure are not so great. It is very close to the pool and GHC. Ask for the third floor if you want a balcony (second floor rooms don't have balconies). The advantages of Tahiti as one of the more recent buildings is two sinks in the bathroom, slightly larger rooms, killer water pressure and great proximity to the TTC and Ferry to the MK.

This first one was taken with a zoom from my third floor balcony:

Thanks for these pictures from Fiji! When I've looked at the map it looks like the rooms are so far away from the pool but you are actually overlooking the pool if you're lucky! So it's not far then to walk over to the pool? How about to the GCH? We'll be going in the summer and I don't want to be walking any more than I have to if it's not in the parks :)

I am staying in a garden view in a few weeks and am so confused! we have stayed at the poly many times before but only in tahiti in a MK view room. I originally asked for third floor somoa facing the volcano pool b/c i thought the view would be great but now I am second guessing b/c of the lights at night and the possible noise. We have a two year old who naps and is a light sleeper. I would like to request a room that has a nice beach view which looks to be either Fiji or Tokelau. I have read that some tokelau 3rd floor rooms have views of the water and fireworks. Is this true? Also, does 3rd floor somoa have views of the water? any help would be great!!!

For the Poly especially, I think higher is better if you are concerned with noise.

Fiji is what I would consider a short walk to the GHC and pool. There are closer rooms to the GHC but I think the Fiji views are great for the garden view price. You overlook the volcano from one side of Fiji, and the water you see is that of the marina. The pool itself is not super visible, but the volcano is right there!

Thanks! I'll be subscribing to this thread. I have NO REGRETS whatsoever in switching our resorts from the AKL to Poly. THE POLY JUST LOOKS SO TROPICAL, BRIGHT and WHAT OUR SUMMER VACATIONS ARE ALL ABOUT :) We can't wait!!!!!:yay: :dance3: :yay: :dance3: It will work out sooooooo much better for hubby's knee and for all of us to be able to be right on the monorail for easy access to MK where we will be spending most of our time anyhow. We are animal lovers but I think the savannah view would get kind of old after awhile but with the Poly, the garden views with the landscaping and such is just more of our style for our vacation mode. I am thrilled to try the POLY:woohoo: All your pics are FABULOUS:thumbsup2 Keep them coming!

Early morning swim!

See, some people worry about running into alligators while at Disney, meanwhile I have to worry about ducks. That's right, ducks do not like me! I'm serious! Everytime we go to the zoo those darn things chase me. My DW gets a huge kick out of it. Here is this grown man running away from an army of ducks. All I know is that I'm wearing my shark suit if I see them in the pool. :rotfl2:

J.C.&ALI'SMOM, that pic with the monorail and Neverland club sign is fantastic. Great location and timing! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

When we were at the Poly last summer, we met up with the ducks the very first morning. AND every morning, my DH would go to Captain Cook's for his breakfast and he had his "duck friend" following him around all morning pecking his shoes. If I could figure out how to put the pic here I would, my DH and the duck stand off.

I really really really wanna stay in the Poly for my Disneymoon, but I don't think I can justify it, as in order to get a King bed I have to pay for a suite. Maybe I'll just have to wait until I have kids and we need two beds.

All these pictures are wonderful though!

All these pictures are wonderful though!

Just get a room with 2 beds :confused3 they are queen sized, use one to put your stuff on. I would rather stay in a room with 2 beds at a resort I love than settle or one I just like to get a king bed!

We stayed in Tokelau last December - lush foliage everywhere - by the looks of this photo Disney must have removed a lot of bushes!! We needed a room with a lot of light, which was difficult due to the bushes and trees. Our CM did find us a great one in Tokelau, but still loads of trees, palm trees and flowering bushes. Gorgeous!

Oh, this reminds me of a photo we took when we first stayed in Tokelau (then Ohau), back in 1982! Great memories. ::yes::

Just got back last week from a September trip, and stopped by the Poly on a little monorail tour of the hotels...As many times as I've stayed there, I didn't have alot of pics, so I decided to snap a few:

guitarob--Loved the photos. It's good to see a picture posted that is not "zoomed" on the castle from LVC. Oftentimes I think we give a misrepresentation of the actual "castle" view when we post our zoomed in photos. While it is still a fantastic view, a bit of realism is good for the newbie who may be expecting that TV commercial depicted view!

BTW, what the hey was the giant ferry boat doing at the dock? I've never seen that before, but what a cool shot!

Great photos. . . :thumbsup2

While it is still a fantastic view, a bit of realism is good for the newbie who may be expecting that TV commercial depicted view!

BTW, what the hey was the giant ferry boat doing at the dock? I've never seen that before, but what a cool shot!

Great photos. . . :thumbsup2

Thank you very much for the compliments!

I really don't know what the ferry was doing at the Polynesian dock. It was about 7 in the morning, and it was all over the waters in that area between the Poly and the Grand Floridian. I was hoping someone would know, hehe. Maybe I'll post that very question in it's own thread :)

Zoomed in or not zoomed in, that view from the LVC is the greatest view in the world (to me anyway) there is nothing like seeing that first thing in the morning when the sun is just breaking over the horizon, or last thing at night, to sit on the balcony there and just watch the castle change color (I couldn't get a decent shot of that to save myself).

These are from last October (2007) when we stayed for Food & Wine Festival. We just had a standard view room in Tuvalu (I think is how it's spelled!)
