hello everyone. when my fiance got engaged last october and decided on disney as our hunnymoon destination, we quickly jumped in the car and went to barnes and noble to buy a birnbaums guide. when we got there all they had was the 2006 guide, so we bought it. the other day we went to buy yhe 2007 edition, they only had the 2008 volume. so should i get that one? has much changed since 2006 to get another one? our hunnymoon is nov. 5th through the 11th. thanks a lot!

It never hurts to get newer editions, especially when it comes to prices and restaurants. Both of those factors could change drastically in two years.

I agree, restaurant and resort reviews can change quite dramatically even in one year's time. Plus, there are a few new attractions that would not be in your '06 volume. Me, I'm nuts, I buy the million-page Unofficial Guide for a little "light reading"! Have fun and be sure to schedule lots of down time!

I would buy it because I love having those things to read by honestly you will get the best "up to the minute" info right here on the dis. Have you tried the Wedding board here also. Great tips and info.

I would get the 2008 version because there are coupons in the back of the book that will only be valid for that year.

For me, I don't really need the book...heck, I could write my own guide book, but I buy it because it gets me excited about going to WDW! :)

If this will be your first trip, I would recommend 2 other guides that to me give more thorough info. The first one is The Complete Walt Disney World, which is a new book altogether and is really great for a first timer. It gives alot of tips, has maps, tells about the actual ride (behind the scenes) and trivia. The other on is Passporters Guide to Walt Disney World, which to me is the BEST guide out there. I has really detailed info about the resorts, parks, and restaurants. There are also areas to write you ADR's and other plans, as well as great fold out maps of the parks and folders in the back to hold small items and you can even write things on them.

I have bought the Birnbaum guides, but they don't give as much info in one book as these two do, there are Birnbaum guides for Dining and with or withouts kids, but still not a thorough.

We got the Complete Walt Disney World book before our trip this past summer and it was wonderful.:thumbsup2 I am also addicted to the Passporter...this was only our second trip to WDW but I have the passporter from 2001 through 2007. I guess some could call it an addiction:confused3 I looked through the Birnbaum 2008 today at BAM and it pretty much looks the same as 2006 and 2007 of course I just flipped through it. :confused3 I'm sure it has alot of useful information because they always do as far as I'm concerned. I read EVERYTHING I can about Disney....I swear it's an illness I can't control. :sad2: Hope this helped!!
