Every time I walk by Canada pavillion in Epcot, I crave Tim Horton's coffee.
Don't you think a Timmies there would do well? S

I know my FIL would be there everyday for one. So would I but I drink the steaped tea. I think they would have to import Ont. water though 'cause Flordia water is awful.:drinking1

I would be there everyday! I love their Earl Grey tea and the tea at restaurants I've tried on property just don't compare. Plus, who wouldn't like a box of Timbits for a late-night snack?

I'm sure Canadians would flock to it in the am at the park(well, all the time:lmao: ), but I'm not sure anyone would go there for coffee in the middle of the day in the hot weather. I'm not sure how particular the American's are about the flavour of their coffee, they seem to specialize more in donuts (dunkin donuts, krispy kreme). However I don't drink coffee at all so I don't fully understand the cravings or anything.
Here is the link to a newsrelease about Wal-mart Canada serving Tim Horton's products in the future. If probably won't be too long before we see Wal-Mart USA also allowing Tim Horton's in select areas. I am betting with all the Canadian Snowbirds and WDW visitors, Orlando would be considered as a test market! We love our Timmies! :thumbsup2

I think it would do great, many people like little places to stop for stuff like that. Plus they seem to be opening more State-side, prob do great business in the park.

Here's a recent interesting blog on timmies. It says that they had a couple of Florida stores aimed at getting the snowbirds but they closed long ago. Hope they try again.
On our last trip, this past Feb.,we questioned the CM's at The Canadian Pavillion, and she said they get so many requests for a Timmie's there all the time. She also told us that Disney did enquire, and Nestle, their main supplier, told them if they did allow Tim Horton's to sell their coffees, etc, they would pull their sponsorship, and that Disney couldn't afford that(meaning Public Relation's way, obviously not financially)! So it doesn't look like Timmies for us die hard Canadians anytime soon!:guilty:

We live in Southern Ontario but I'm from Sault Ste Marie. We go through Michigan to get to the Soo. When they put a Timmies in Michigan (and there are a few now) we thought it was the greatest! And that was from being out of Canada for 6 hours!
A Timmies at WDW- priceless!!!

Well if Disney can't put one in, that wouldn't stop someone from putting one in outside the park....say on I-Drive. They'd have to secure the franchise, of course, and it's doubtful TH is offering them for Florida just yet.

I don't drink coffee, but I wouldn't mind seeing a Tim Horton's in Epcot. The only donuts I like are Tim Horton's donuts...I don't know what it is about them, but no other donuts even come close.

How can you say FL water isn't that bad when you have no other water to compare it to?! ;) You've not had water until you've had water from Northern Ontario (like Sault Ste Marie). Now *thats* real water! We used to go visit family there, fill up jugs with tap water and bring them home with us!

Timmies at EPCOT might do OK. Tim Hortons has had Florida locations in the past but they are now closed.
Read about some of Tim Hortons efforts on U.S. expansion. I read last spring that the stores in New England sales were well below expectations.

After drinking the sludge they served on property (minus the Pressed Pot Kona coffee :thumbsup2 ), I was TOTALLY ready for my med. double-double when we got back late Friday night.
I think Disney could get away with serving Tim's brew with FL water. Once the water is heated to the correct temp. it'll burn the impurities out. The problem with their coffee on property is that it's made from a coffee syrup, that's mixed with the heated water. If you ever get a chance to peak around a service tech. when there fixing one of the newer coffee vending machines at your place of work, look for the bag of dark liquid. That's coffee syrup. :scared1:
Thank goodness the Pop food court's pop stations were serving Frozen Coke!!!

The coffee is awful I took to drinking tea or coke to get my caffeine fix in the morning. I would make a stop at Epcot every moring for the coffee before going to other parks if it had a timmies. 20 Timbits and a Med Double Double to go.

The coffee disney sells is horrible. First think we did when we got through the buffalo boarder is get a Tim's coffee. Ok why is nestle's controlling what is sold in the Canadian Pavillion. Could they not make Timmy's Coffee at Le Celliere. Must tell you how good that coffee is if Nestle's is being a big bully and throwing a tamper tantrum if they add Tim Hortons Coffee.
Wonder if we could ever get a petition large enough to make Nestles look bad to Canadians. To have them allow Tim's in Epcot.

I expect that Nestle has ensured a no-compete clause is included in their contract with Disney. It's good business practice and has nothing to do with being a bully.
Is Coca-Cola a bully because Pepsi-Cola isn't sold or served on Walt Disney World property? Is Hess a bully because Shell isn't allowed to sell fuel on property? How about McDonald's for ensuring that neither Burger King nor Wendy's set up shop on Disney property?
Nope -- just good business practice that likely allows Disney to get the product for a song, provides a secure contract for the company and it is that good business practice that will likely keep the Widow Horton's coffee out of the Canada Pavilion @ Epcot.

Just read this on Jim Hill
"And then there's that Disney-themed Starbucks knock-off that's expected to open at WDW's Downtown Disney in the coming year. Which the Mouse then hopes to use as the prototype for a series of coffee bars that will open at Disney parks & resorts worldwide over the next five years."

As a Jersey guy who visits Canada on business a lot, I've always been puzzled at the love of all things Tim's - we have the same parallel addiction in the US - except the loyalty is to a great coffee - DUNKIN DONUTS coffee!
Tim's coffee to me tastes very thin and watery compared to Dunkin....it is not surprising to read in that press release that "in the Boston area, Tims is finding that the Dunkin competition has been stiffer than expected". Dunkin will have no trouble defending its home turf - Tims is just not an appealing option to Americans....I stopped (with no choice) at a Tims recently along I-95 in CT (always willing to give a product another chance) and after the first sip - disappointment ! - it would be hard for me to believe that Tims could ever beat Dunkin in a taste test with Cdns.
To me, what's also surprising besides the low coffee quality are these problems:
* the XL size is small (Dunkin gives you a 24 oz XL)
* the stores don't carry Splenda
* the stores didn't accept credit cards
* the lids are inferior - can't open without coffee going all over the place - Dunkin lids have a patented "tear off" system - Tims lids remind me of the 1970s
Next time you're in the USA - give Dunkin Donuts a whirl.....who knows? Maybe it won't be long before it'll be Dunkin in Canada!!!

I sure Tim's would do fine at EPCOT. However not all folks do things the same way.
I'm amazed every time I head into a U.S. Gas Station/Convenience store and there is a huge buffet of Hot Dogs, Nacho , Burritos, Sandwiches etc,.
I don't think that would go off too well up here in the Toronto area. Sure there are now some Tim's in gas stations and Sobeys and Canadian Tire have teamed up to offer mini super markets at some of CT's gas stations.
Another thing I notice in the U.S. is buffets. Lots of mediocre food for one low price. Any other differences folks would like to point out?

I am a coffee lover through and through, if it has caffine and came from the bean i'm usually pretty happy. My list of preferences are
1. Starbuck's, has to have the highest caffine content of all
2. Timmies, usually very consistant, though I have been disappointed.
3. Second Cup, consistant, yummy but I have to travel to get it.
and a very distant
4. Dunkin Donuts, there are DD's in Canada(mostly in Quebec), I personally hate styrofoam cups and the coffee just does nothing for me.
But back to the thread, I think Timmies would do very well in Epcot, as it is a place where every one is in a mood to try something new!!!
Thanks

It might do well because Americans would be wondering about what this "Tim Horton's place is all about", but this is one Canadian who does not understand why people like Tim Horton's. Long line ups, no atmosphere or esthetic value to the interior, sandwiches that I need to put my glasses on to find the meat in, oh and then there is the coffee... don't get me started.
Real coffee is:
Tied for 1st place: Peet's & Illy
2. Seattle's Best
3. Starbucks

I am an American and think Tim Horton's is much, much better coffee than Dunkin...
Also, the stores near me all carry Splenda (i order it daily)...they all accept credit cards (just used my Visa last week there) and have never had a probelm with the lids...actually never thought of the lids as I am more concerned with coffee than the serving apparatus.
Starbucks is the worst of the bunch and way over-priced.
Now that is something I can agree with 100%
As for a Timmy's in Epcot - i think it would do ok - but not enough to be great. Outside of Canadians and some loyal Americans, most woul dnot understand why coffee and doughnuts are Canadian.

I have to agree with you on that! Did anyone else read the study awhile back that placed McDonald's coffee ahead of Starbuck's in a blind taste test. I showed it to my Dad, who despite being a major tight wad loves Starbuck's:confused3. He said "oh, but you don't go there for the coffe, you go there for the coffee experience".
From some of the other posters comments, TH coffee in the States uses a slightly different formula than that in Canada, so maybe its the same with lids and cups? I know I'm not impressed with the yucky styrofoam Dunkin Donuts cups (TH more environmentally friendly and also allow for periodic rim rolling :)), but I've never had a problem lid at TH either. As for the size I've never ordered more than a medium at TH, so I can't say yeah or nay on that.

I'm more of a tea girl anyway and don't get me started on the swill they serve as tea in the US of A (exluding Twining's in Epcot of course). WHen I lived in South Carolina and asked for tea they brought me iced tea unsweetened... HA is was actually quite good but not what I was expecting. As a former employee of Tim Donut Limited (I was with them when there were 25 stores west of Ontario!!!) I personally think that a Tim's in Epcot would not do as well as most think. Here's my logic, if you have ever had the swill that passes for coffee in many parts of the states, I think that Tim's wouldn't be accepted by the average American palette that is happy with the swill they get in their hometown! :rotfl2:
Yes Canadians at Epcot will flock but would we give them enough business - probably not. If they ever did manage to get in there, let's hope they put in a great filtration system so that we're not tasting the local water in the coffee.
