This day was ear marked as the "redo all our favorites" day well in advance.

We started by hitting MGM at 9am. We rode ToT and R&R coaster twice each, and Star Tours. We then strolled around for a while, taking in the stores we didn't have time for on our previous visit. The morning just flew by. We stopped and had lunch at the Backlot Express - burgers and hotdogs - total was $27. I hadn't really noticed until then that MGM looks dated. Is it just me?

We went back to the resort for a couple of hours. I started packing while the kids took a final swim. True die-hards - it was waaaaaaaay too cold for me! We all fell asleep for an hour or so, although I can't imagine why! We then headed over to MK - this was E-night and we had things to do!

We immediately split up when we got there. Kevin and I wanted to browse the stores, and I managed to convince the kids that there would be lots of time to do the rides together when the crowds left at 7pm. They couldn't wait though - they headed straight for Splash Mountain and got drenched! When we met back up at 6pm, they were soaked. We ate supper at the Starlight Cafe - again, burgers and hotdogs. Geez - what a healthy diet week this has been! By the time we were done, we quickly ran and squeezed in Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh before they shut down for the night. We stood and watched the fireworks, then headed straight for Big Thunder. We rode that ride so many times in a row, I lost count. Same thing for Splash mountain. In fact, by the end of the evening, I was totally immune to the drops - they did nothing to my stomach. I might as well have been sitting on a bus! I finally rode Astro Orbiter, and I have to say, I HATED this ride - I thought I was going to fall out! We finally managed to get Matthew to try Space Mountain and he loved it. I would have to say that ending our visit with an e-night was the best! It's definitely worth the money.

On our way out, we stopped by the Main Street bakery and picked up cheese cake, lemon cake, chocolate cake and cookies. What the heck - we could diet once we got home!

We all felt sad walking out those gates. We know it will be at least 4-5 years before we return. The kids will be young adults then. I've never wanted to capture a moment in time as much as I did that last day.

The next morning, we were up early and on our way home. I'm not sure why, but we've visited WDW twice and both times, we got completely lost on our way to the airport. Thankfully, we'd left early, and had time for the scenic tour of Florida!

All in all, we had a great trip and got to do most of what we wanted. I still want to see ALL of WS at Epcot, and I never got to eat at Beaches and Cream. I guess that means we have to go back!

I was surprised to find I had cash left in my pocket at the end of the week. That's a first! I'm using it as my deposit for our next trip :)

I enjoyed your trip reports. Sounds like you had a great time. I know what you mean about the sad feeling you have leaving the parks on your last night after a great holiday. But it's that same thought that makes you want to save your money to return to WDW again as soon as you can. :)

I truly enjoyed reading your report. We are planning a trip for next year Jan. 2002. I guess we can all identify with your sadness about leaving the happiest place on Earth. It brought tears to my eyes. We also go about every 4 years. We take pictures galore and try to soak it all in. I remember specific things about my children and how they looked so excited at that special age in their lives. Our oldest is now a college girl, Pre-med.! We're so proud of her. We are returning to WDW next year, and she wants to take her boyfriend with us! He'll be a first-timer! It will be fun to see it all new through his eyes.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and your trip. Pomcoach <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="razz">

Loved reading your report. Will be going to WDW for the first time with kids next January. Was a little hesitant about the time of year because of the weather but looked forward to parks being slower and lines being shorter. Your report convinced me that it would be OK. You didn't seem too restricted because of the cold. And who knows we could have a heat wave. Thanks!!
