Here are some things I made today (while my hubby was out with his brother & dad).

Disney frame:

Golf frame for christmas present:

Golf Ribbon Memory Board (the little buttons are golf bags with clubs - kinda hard to see in the smaller pic):

I'm planning on doing lots more of the frames (takes me about 20 minutes to make 2 now that I have the process down). Also have some Cars fabric to do a couple ribbon memory boards with those characters too. Comments/Suggestions welcome as I will be making lots more of these, and always want to improve.

Is that fabric or paper?

I will break it down by project :)
Disney Frame:
Frame from Michaels = $1
Pink Acrylic Paint from Michaels = $0.79 (used about 1/5 of bottle)
Glitter Acrylic Paint from Michaels = $0.79 (used about 1/6 of bottle)
8.5x11 Castle Paper from Paper Pizzaz Pack ~ $12 (used 1 page of ~12 pages in pack)
12x12 Tink Vellum from LSS = $1.25 (used 2/3 of page)
Pink Ribbon from Jo-Anns = $1.99 for whole roll (used 1/8 of roll)
Got 2 frames out of this as used the opposite paper combination for other frame
TOTAL = (1+(0.79/5)+(0.79/6)+(12/12)+(2*(1.25/3))+(1.99/8))
which is ~ $3.40 + about 40 minutes of work (while watching TV)

Golf Frame:
Frame from Michaels = $1
8.5x11 Green Cardstock from pack ~ $0.50
Golf fabric (left over from memory board) = $3 for yard cut in half
Brown Rick-Rack from Jo-Anns = $0.99
TOTAL = (1+0.5+(3/4)+(0.99/3))
which is ~ $2.58 + about 20 minutes of work (while watching TV)[/

Golf Ribbon Memory Board:
Stretched Canvas from Ben Franklin's ~ $7
Golf fabric = $3 for yard cut in half
Ribbon from Jo-Anns = $1.99 for whole roll (used about 1/3 roll on this)
Golf buttons from Ben Franklin's = $1.99
TOTAL = (7+(3*(3/4))+(1.99/3)+1.99)
which is ~ $11.91 + about 40 minutes of work (imagine this will be shorter as I get more practice with the staple gun)[/

can you tell me how to make the memory board? and how hard is it? <--that means can somebody who is not crafty at all do this? i am thinking it might make a nice christmas present for DS teachers.

can you tell me how to make the memory board? and how hard is it? <--that means can somebody who is not crafty at all do this? i am thinking it might make a nice christmas present for DS teachers.

First, it is not hard at all, just best to plan ahead and lay out things before starting. The instructions are below. You don't have to be very crafty, just handy with a staple gun.

To make the Memory Board:
Cut your batting (if using) the same approximate size as your canvas (canvas can be found at any craft store like Jo-Ans or Michaels). Don't worry about making this perfect as it will be covered up by the fabric. Cut your fabric about 3 inches larger than your canvas (so if your canvas is 12x12, you'll want your fabric to be about 15x15). Once again, these cuts don't have to be perfect as they will be on the back of the board. Clear off a larger work area. Lay your fabric, design side down, on the table. Lay the batting in the center of the fabric and the canvas over the batting. Pick a side to start with and wrap the fabric around the back of the canvas and staple to the canvas. Start in the center and work your way out to smooth and pull the fabric as you go. Do the side opposite the first pulling the canvas taught with each staple. Complete for remaining two sides. Do the corners last, folding like a christmas present and adhereing in the back with staples.

Attaching Ribbon:
Cut each piece of ribbon about 5 inches longer than the width of the board. Turn the board over and lay the ribbons where you'd like them to fall ensuring there is pleanty of overhang on each side of the canvas. Use straight pins to hold in place (I didn't do this with the golf one and the ribbon was spaced weird). Once they are all pinned, turn the board over and staple one side of the ribbon into place. Pull out the straight pins and pull the ribbon taught before stapling the other side of the ribbon. This is important because if the ribbon isn't taught, anything you put on the board will just fall.

Buttons:
The buttons I used had backings on them - I just cut them off with my hubby's wire cutters (very easy) and hot glued them in place (could also use fabric or tacky glue for this). I then put a bit of glue under the button where the ribbon crossed and pressed down to adhere.

HTH. I am making another one later next week and can take pictures through the process if you let me know.

Also, if you wanted to put glass in the frame and didn't have an old frame to take it from...go to the dollar store. I do that quite a bit when I make frames. princess:
