We only had two minor storms when we went (one as we were going back home, very sad :sad1: we left Disney property and suddenly it started to pour) and didn't really get any pictures.

I'd love to see some pictures of stormy weather at Disney, the more stormy the better! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Edit: Can a mod please move this to "Theme Parks Community"? :)

During our June trip it rained off and on (but hey it's Florida - right?) We did have one day where it stormed really bad! We happened to be at SSR at the time. This was taken just before a storm.

This was taken last November while on the monorail (shot through the window). There was a beautiful rainbow over the Polynesian that seemed to stretch to the Wedding Pavillion at the Grand Floridian.

We saw the neatest storm when we were at Epcot on 9/14. Illuminations was going on during the raging storm. They shot off a pair of perfectly symmetrical red fireworks which were promptly highlighted by a bolt of lightening right smack between the two. If I'd only had my camera ready for that shot...

Not sure didnt know there were rules when it came to using the icons...I just put the icon because I was interested in seeing future stormy pictures as if i was watching a movie. so instead of putting subscribing i just put the popcorn icon.

No "rules", it's just most commonly used in heated (or soon to be heated) discussions...people post with the popcorn icon so they can sit back and watch the show. Sorry, I was just posting more in jest than anything...it was just amusing to see a post with just that icon in a situation it's not commonly used.

Sorry to go OT! :)

I use the popcorn icon the same way....like I am sitting back and enjoying the show.......which in this case is stormy pictures..........very interesting.

We were there in June 2002 when it rained most of the day on all but 6 of our 7 day visit. Lines were short and luckily we brought our own distinctive raincoats so we could find each other. Everywhere it was a sea of yellow Mickey raincoats!!!!!! The one downside was that my shoes were always wet!!
Keep the pics coming......I love them....

Here is DD at Downtown Disney after we got caught in one of the worst thunder storms ever. It poured that night and we were lucky to make it back to the resort as the buses could hardly drive through such heavy rain and so many new "mini lakes" that had appeared on the roads due to the storm. We still had fun though, and laugh when we remember how soaking wet we got:)

We were at MGM on this day! Wow- I don't remember it looking that rough. My son and I were on the Great Movie Ride and just as we walked outside my Mom called and said "did you see the shuttle?!!" It had just appeared in the sky. There were people standing around looking up but all we saw was the trail of "smoke".

Not really a storm but.....

This is right before a big one hit. You can see the gray clouds creeping up over SSR.

Here was my son (blue shirt w red sleeves), niece (pink hat) and nephew (blue & red striped shirt in bckgrnd) dancing it up one minute....

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e192/kweldy/pix047.jpg

Suddenly the DJ announced he was loading up his gear due to weather...and we were a little annoyed since the kids were having such a great time and all.

Well, here is my son about 5 minutes later after we high-tailed it into the WOD store along with everyone else. The picture was an accident- that's why the angle. Oh, and yes, ds-1 slept through the whole thing :rotfl: Anyway, that's how quickly these storms can sneak up on you. It really didn't look so bad while the kids were dancing. We drove home that evening in some really awful weather that reminded me of a hurricane (or at least a really strong tropical storm) It also makes that dreaded trip home all the worse....:sad1:

Me too! It poured the night we went to MVMCP in 2002; I was videotaping instead of taking still pics. On a shot I took out one of the doors of the Emporium, there are rivers running down the sides of Main St. and the only person walking through the shot was a poor drenched CM in a poncho.

That looks really familiar dreamin in pa. We were there that night also. We had dinner at Chef Mickey's as the storm rolled in. But we still went and had a blast that night.

We stayed the whole night too. We were drenched but didn't really care. We got to meet Captain Jack twice with less than 30 minutes combined wait time. We had a great time, rain and all.

Looking from Ariel's Grotto, under Scuttle's Landing with Dumbo The Flying Elephant on the right.
We waited to see Ariel in the beautiful May sunshine for about 25-30 minutes (longest wait we had the entire trip) when it grew dark and the sky gave way to a 20 minute lightening storm. It was the quickest oncoming, yet fastest on going storm I've ever seen in my life. We never did see Ariel. So we call her the disappearing mermaid. Better luck next family trip!!

Was it May 6th? We were at LTT for a character meal. Left the stroller parked under a tree (before it was raining) all safe....came outside and low and behold our stroller was moved to an uncovered spot!!! I went in to get towels for all of us unlucky ones!!! Poor DGD(2) could not ride in the stroller the rest of the evening. This happened around 5:00 or so. My ego would say how I set the shot up just right and made the split second exposure ......

..... but to tell the truth I really got lucky with it.

I was trying to get a lightning shot but never really thought that I would get it in the day time.

I've got another one, but it's not a picture, it's a video I took with my S2. Does that still count? Anyway, we were stuck in Epcot in the American Pavillion when this downpour happened. Be sure to turn your volume up so you can hear how hard the rain was coming down.

This is the uncompressed copy so it's a 19 meg download. If you've got any basic video editor look at the video at 12.25 and tell me what you think is happening.... I'm still not sure.

OMG! It looked like a tracer of lightning on the shoulder of the guy in white in front of you! That was scary. Although it was probably just a reflection of the lightning that got picked up by your lens...he didn't seem at all fazed by it.

I thought it was just some aftereffect of the lightning (or precursor I suppose). A Lens reflection also seems to make sense too.

But look again - it looks like the lightning wraps over his shoulder.

This is from August 30th, 2007. We spent a stormy day at Disney Studios. When the rain first started downpouring, my DH and I found ourselves stuck at the FP area for Rock n' Rollercoaster. We didn't know how long it be raining for and didn't want to waste the day so we skipped poncho-less out from under cover all the way to Tower of Terror, splashing in all the puddles. We were wearing our bride and groom ears and people were cheering us on.

Of course, when we got to ToT we were soaked but it was so fun! I'm a chicken so DH rode alone but it was so cool even to be in the Hollywood Hotel hearing real crashes of lightening.

Watch about 12 seconds in when there is a lightning strike. Look at the cast member that is in the clear raincoat's right shoulder. I've still never figured out 'what' that is - I think it's part of the lightning but on his shoulder?? Weird.

Do you have a UV filter on the camcorder? I wondered if maybe it wasn't some reflections. Although, at the speed of light, we shouldn't be able to see the delays like that. Looks like quite the storm though. Nice Vid.

Do you have a UV filter on the camcorder? I wondered if maybe it wasn't some reflections. Although, at the speed of light, we shouldn't be able to see the delays like that. Looks like quite the storm though. Nice Vid.

Nope - no filter. Just a very unusual artifact. It really couldn't have actually been lightning RIGHT there or all of us would have been on the floor.

I remember this storm on 9/23 as we got on the tram to the plane at ORD the sky suddenly opened up and it poured hard. By the time we got on our plane the sun was out again. Thanks for the memory.

Here is one I took in May 2006 from our room at BWV just after a storm, as we were getting ready to head out the door...

Here is a nice one I got the other day. No post processing, as you can tell from the dark shape of the pagoda. It was the only way I could get the full effect of the clouds in the background.

Thats funny- because I sat there and sat there (wanting to get set-up for Illuminations) waiting for a monorail. I finally gave up- grabbed my camera and tripod and walked to just about where your picture was taken and one of course came right by.

Can a mod please move this to "Theme Parks Community"? :)

This board is mostly non-Disney picture threads, isn't it?

It seems like it would be more at home here (http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=60&f=161), where most of the Disney picture threads are :)

No, actually there are mostly Disney-themed threads here with a few non-Disney ones thrown in.

Check out our weekly contests and feel free to share some pics. :)

I've gone through all 15 pages of this thread, and can only find 1 picture that I'm not certain is a Disney picture. The title of the thread is Stormy Disney Pictures.

Just the opposite, actually. We're sharing Disney photos, along with tips and suggestions to help each other achieve the best results. There are some threads with non-disney photos, but usually just to illustrate various techniques.

I still think this would be more at home at "Theme Parks Community", with the "Magic Kingdom Pictures" "Epcot Pictures" "Picture of the Day" etc. are :)

How would I contact a mod to move it?

This thread isn't really about tips, techniques and suggestions, it's about people posting pictures they took of Disney during a storm. :upsidedow

But how does a thread of pictures taken at Disney NOT fit the theme of a photography board?? :confused3

Along with threads like...
"Favorite Castle Pics"
"A Picture of Every Character"
"Disney Photography Tips"
"Pictures the Average Tourist Might Not Take"
"Camera for MNSSHP"
"The Image Below Me Is" (Disney pictures only)
"Anyone have a wall of Disney Pics"
and the various Disney photo contests...all of which are on just the first page of the forum.

If you must contact a moderator, AZ JazzyJ is the one for this board.

I think it would be a lot simpler just to post a link to this thread over on the other board and call it good, but di whatever you feel you must.

Funny....I see those threads and think they would be more appropriate on the photography board. :thumbsup2

What's with the bickering? This thread clearer fits on either board. The one it's on now seems to be doing the job.

That's why I suggested a simple link on the other board ought to be sufficient. I provided the Mod's name just to be helpful ;)

I was going to post a picture but:

Ah. I'd like to have an argument, please.
R: Certainly sir. Have you been here before?
M: No, I haven't, this is my first time.
R: I see. Well, do you want to have just one argument, or were you thinking of taking a course?
M: Well, what is the cost?
R: Well, It's one pound for a five minute argument, but only eight pounds for a course of ten.
M: Well, I think it would be best if I perhaps started off with just the one and then see how it goes.
R: Fine. Well, I'll see who's free at the moment.
Pause
R: Mr. DeBakey's free, but he's a little bit conciliatory.
Ahh yes, Try Mr. Barnard; room 12.
M: Thank you.

We had one dozy of a storm roll in one afternoon in July...It left as quickly as it came. It really ripped some limbs off the palm trees at the CSR...In Disney fashion...the resort was sparkling in just a few hours after it was over..

We'll be down at Disney in less than 10 days - not that I want rainy weather while we are there...but...if we have any stormy/rainy days I'll be sure to take some pictures!

I love this thread - such awesome pictures!
