View Full Version : Bounce Back Reservation Issue

Having just returned from POR FQ last week, I tried unsuccessfully tonight to make reservations for Sept 2008 under the Free Dining promotion.
Tried multiple levels of customer service but they will not allow you to book after you've checked out of the resort. Bad part is that a CR told me that rumour has it that they might not offer Free Dining in 2008.
Has anyone esle had this bad luck or if you can offer any suggestions - please let me know.
Thanks ~ :confused3

i would continue to call back... and after that, i'd call back again...
my coworker and i were both in the world at the same time... i got the bounceback offer in my CBR room, he did not get it in his WL room... when we got back to work to compare notes, i asked him if he booked for next year and he hadn't... he took the number off my flyer, called a few times 'til he got someone able to help him (ask for guest services) and was able to book...
again, i'd keep trying! and GOOD LUCK!

Wow a lot of people will be happy to hear this. He is the first one I have heard was able to book once home. Now even if it is a little hard to get someone to actually do it at least we know it can be done.

I don't know what the issue is. I believe you have to book before you check out.

The issue at hand is not knowing that the promo existed until I was already home. Would have done it while I was still a guest at WDW for 7 seven days but never received the flyer~

I knew about the offer before we left for our trip (9/7-17), so I was not surprised when I saw the flyer in our room after checking in. I did notice that it was very explicit about the fact that you must book before checking out, so we did so before leaving. I was talking about the offer with another guest while taking the boat back to the Poly from the MK and she was not aware of the offer, I overheard her talking about it to her husband as they got off the boat. I couldn't help but wonder if the flyer was not in their room??? Ours was front and center on the dresser when we checked in - difficult to miss.
Anyway, good luck to all who are trying to book!

We just got back from a week at CBR this a.m. and were not offered the bounceback offer. DD went one day earlier than DH and I and spent just one night at Pop before switching resorts to CBR. She was offered bounceback! So I really don't think that there is any rhyme or reason to it....

There was no flyer in our room at POFQ during our entire stay (9/01-9/09), but it was being discussed here on the DIS about a week before we left so I was aware of it. The only place I ever saw or heard anything about it while we were there was on the resort TV channel, where there were about three vague sentences about it. But we never saw a flyer of any kind.
While riding the bus back to POFQ from MK one evening, I started a conversation with the father of a young family about their WDW experience. He eventually got around to raving about how great the free dining was for them. He said they had already decided they would like to do it again next year if it was offered. I asked him if he knew about the bounceback offer and he was shocked. He said they had no idea it was available, and they would very likely book it as soon as they returned to their room. I was glad to help them out.
Even though we knew about it, my DSis and I did not book it. We had free dining last year, and while it was great to dine at some places we had never tried before, we decided it was just too much food for us and the necessary ADRs tied us to a schedule without allowing very much spontaneity. We would rather try for room discounts, such as the great AP discount we got for our recent visit, and rely on CS with perhaps one or two TS meals. Thats what works best for us.

We were at CSR from 9/3-9/9 and did not have a flyer in our room either. However, I had read about it here on the DIS before we left (thanks, DIS!) and I did see the blurb on the Resort TV. On our last night, I went down to the conceirge to see if I could book through him and he didn't even know about the deal. He dialed Central Reservations for me and I waited on hold FOREVER, finally got someone who had a clue what I was talking about, only to have the computer lock up on him. I watched for the special number on the Resort TV the next morning, called and booked with no problem.

We were at CR a few weeks ago and I already knew about the offer before we left. We were never given a flyer or told about the offer, I had to go down to the front desk just before we left and ask them about it. They asked three people before they knew what I was talking about :scared1:

I booked the Bounce Back Program that was offered last Dec for this Sept. The only way I knew about it was reading about it here on the DIS before I left. I spent almost all of one day trying to track it down, down there and was finally able to book it that afternoon at a PORS kiosk. When I got back, there was alot of people posting here on the DIS, upset that they were down there and either didn't know about it or couldn't find anyone who knew about it. When they came back they called and as far as I know no one was able to get it. The pamphlet I picked up stated very clearly that it had to be booked prior to check out (and they did check that you were currently staying at a WDW resort before they'd book it). On the day I booked it the CM made a point of saying it had to be booked prior to check out.
Of course, he also said that the only free dining for 2007 was going to be through the Nov-Dec bounce back offer and we all know that wasn't true don't we?

I booked my offer again but figure it will still be available in the spring to everyone. I think it's just a way for marketting to do some research but will not in any way limit others from getting the same deal. Of course if they keep telling us to put down our $$ every year as otherwise we won't get the offer...then it's offered...it's like "crying wolf" and finally most of us will just wait and keep our funds to ourselves til the spring. It certainly didn't save me time- I spent nearly an hour on my cell phone out of my vacation to try and get it booked. The flyer clearly states that you must be a current guest and I wish they'd be consisent and not give in to some people who have returned home and then want it, and not give it to others in the same situation. Either decide that people can book it if they WERE at a resort and got home, within a certain time frame, or decide not to honor the offer unless it's booked while someone's still got a current ressie but don't make people try, try, try again, complain, complain, complain...go to different managers- this just takes time, call volume, and generates dissatisfactions from those guests who find out someone else got something they tried for and were denied ( for the same reason).---Kathy

We tried to book while we were at POR and to make a long story short. We were unable to book a specific date and resort due to needing a handicapped room. They took all our info and gave me a number to call when we got home. We did, they told us they would call back. They didnt we called back and were told they had our info but we could not book since it was to late. We tried but we were unable to get the bounce back perks...very disappointing.

The guy I talked to said that the CMs may not be familiar with the offer because it came out of the Central Reservations Office. He said they don't get notice of all the promotions CRO is running. The only way they know about them is when guests ask about it.
Seems like they'd give notice to the conceirges in the resorts, though!

Actually the offer is coming from WDTC. And like a previous poster I imagine this offer is a little more random than guests think. I suspect if EVERY guest was offered the BBP, then we would be reading by now how upset those just coming back are, due to not able to book because everything is already booked.
The BBP is the same as any other offer, limited availability.
Hopefully those who missed out will be able to book WDW travel at a later date that also fits their needs. :wizard:

That was the number given on the Resort TV channel. I saw the ad on that channel. It was a couple of screens that said, "Call for a HOT DEAL. Dial #8844 from your room phone." I thought the Resort TV was World-wide, so I'm not sure if it would be different in other resorts. :confused3 We were at CSR. I just picked up the room phone and dialed 8844 and got someone who actually knew what I was talking about!

BTW:
I did not get a flyer either.
I read about it on the DIS before I left for WDW.

What exactly does the Bounceback Offer give you?
And what are the dates you must travel?
We will be at CBR Sept.27-Oct.1 and I know that we are going again the first week of December 08. Any chance it would apply then?

The bounce dates included free dining and had to be booked between August 30,2008 and September 22, 2008.

There is no excuse for that, I would call Guest services and tell them that you needed a HC room and they WOULD NOT book it while you were there, tell them you did as they told you and now they are in violation of ADA compliance, by refusing to originally book you a room as they do anyone else.
I would make it clear they will honor the offer or you WILL be filing a grievance Under the ADA rules.
I think you just need to go higher up the food chain and carefully explain what they did and did not do.

I suspect that the reason some people did not get the flyer, other than just not paying attention to all the papers you got, was that Mousekeeping did not bother to replace them in EVERY room when the previous guest checked out and took the flyer with them.
All the resorts are participating, and they are not just selecting random rooms.

We did not receive the flyer either, plus we had already been at WDW for 10 days prior to the promo starting and didn't have access to the DIS...so I had no idea it started while we were there. I was really upset and was tempted to call Guest Services but after thinking about it for awhile I realized we couldn't take advantage of it anyway because our school starts the day after Labor Day.
However, had that not been the case I would have called night and day until I found someone that would book it for me. For me, the real issue is the fact that guests should not be penalized because mousekeeping (or whoever) did not leave the materials in the room. Thank goodness so many people saw it on their TV, but we never had ours on as we usually got back to the room very late at night and went straight to bed (any other time the kids probaby would have had it on night and day!).

The Bounce Back offer is for a package with hotel & theme park tickets plus the basic dining plan for free (or discounted deluxe dining plan for $32 per adult per night).
You must be a registered guest currently checked in at an official WDW hotel (they'll check while you're on the phone) and must book prior to checking out (on or before Sept. 28, 2007).
Dates of travel for the bounce back free dining are 8/30 - 9/27/08. No mention of other dates.

I heard about the bounce back offer on Dis before we left. Even wrote down the code to use, but completely forgot about it when we were there last week. Didn't receive anything in the room, and we didn't turn on the TV. I went to the front desk one day to get change, and saw the flyer next to the CM. I asked if it was the bounce back offer, and she said "I don't know, read it and you can find out".
I called the number on the flyer and wanted to book two rooms. They not only checked to make sure we were staying at a WDW resort, but also checked to make sure each of us were a current resort guest.
If you didn't get a chance to book it during your stay, I think they will probably offer it again as they did this year, first to Disney Visa, then to the public. Since Sept. is their slowest time, it's a great way for them to fill up the rooms. This will be our 4th year using free dining and the first using the bounce back offer. Darn those Disney promos. We can't vacation anywhere else! :)

I'm really not sure if there was a flyer in each room or not. I asked at the front desk at check in, just in case I didn't receive one in our room. But once we got to the room, there it was in plain sight. So we went ahead and booked, arriving Sept. 27, 2008, departing October 3, 2008. That way we'll be down there for the Food And Wine Festival, one of our favorites. And we'll get to use those snack credit around the World now!!
They also implied to me that there might not be free dining next year. Though I tend to think they say that to get you to feel that you need to book this bounceback right away. Anyway, for me, I won't have to keep my eyes and ears open for the free dining promo. It's already taken care of.

Sounds like Disney may be treating this bounceback offer as they do their pins...just passing them out randomly.
If I didnt received a flyer, even if I had already checked out, I would call and tell them that I was not informed of the offer during my stay, but a friend was, and I would very much like to book the offer now.

Ah, but all resort guests ARE being given the information about the bounceback offer in their rooms via the resort information channel. So even without a flyer resort guests have plenty of access to the information. Just like many people don't watch the resort channel, many people also do not read the flyers or tent cards in their rooms. So people who didn't get a flyer really cannot argue that they were not provided with the information and I think Disney will probably stick to their guns about having to book during your stay.

It seems that SOME people are now calling after returning home and actually being allowed to book.
I wonder if there were SO MANY complaints about missing it while there that they are allowing guests there WERE there during that time.

I was at AKL from 9/14-9/21 and saw no mention of the Bounce Back program in my room or otherwise. I don't think you should be so quick to penalize people who don't spend their time at the hotel glued to the resort tv channel. When we were in our room, my DD6 watched the classic Disney cartoon channel and I sat on my balcony watching the animals in the savannah.
When I return to work tomorrow, I plan to contact Guest Services to see if I can get the program. Whether I get the promotion or not will not impact any one else so I don't see why it should be upsetting people so much. Wouldn't you try if you could?

P.S. I have no idea if there will be free dining next year for 2009 or not. Also I'm not sure how it's decided who will get the offer or not...it MAY depend on the resort you are in or the length or your stay but don't quote me! We don't get this specific info lol

I haven't read of anybody getting upset about people calling to try to book the bounceback offer after they've returned home from their vacation. Some people, such as myself, are speculating that Disney will consider themselves covered as far as communicating the offer to all resort guests because they broadcast information about the offer on the resort update tv channel in each room. Whether someone chose to watch it or not, the information was available via that channel in each room (unless the tv was broken for the entire stay) which is why many of us suspect that Disney will not readily accept a person's argument that they did not receive notification of the program. Personally, if you want to try to call and get the offer now I wish you well and hope you are successful.

I checked into pop on 8/30 and did not have a flyer in my room. I also did not get a packet of "anything" at the front desk when I checked in. I was handed a map advising where my room was and a newletter type thing for the resort and that was it. I was not impressed by the service at the pop and really did not care for it there. That is another story! While in our room on our 2nd day in the afternoon when we were taking a break housekeeping knocked on our door and he handed me the bounceback flyer and stated he had forgotten to leave this for us. I was thrilled because I did not know that it was being offered. I did book before I checked out and booked the WL for 5 nights 9/19/08. I believe that everyone should have been given the flyer by housekeeping but that they aren't really worried about leaving it for everyone.

Did everyone check their folders that you are given at check in? That's where our flyer was located when we checked in Sept. 1 at the WL. Not 100% sure, but I also think they weren't given out until Aug. 30 or Sept. 1.

Again....think about this promo from Disney's view. Perhaps they are doing market research to see how effective the TV "ad" on the in-room channel will be for getting guests to book a future stay? Perhaps flyers are handed out only at certain resorts to see if the presence of a flyer enhances the volume of bookings they get. Perhaps they are targetting specific resorts, such as the value resorts ( or some other resort type ) to see if certain demographics of guests are willing to book a future stay. I see this mostly as a marketting research promo that was handled differently last year. Last year there was nothing on the TV. Of course this year they may have put in on the TV just to cover themselves if someone calls to say they weren't informed. Who knows? The point is we don't know why things are done, only that "historically" this offer has been available in the spring to everyone once they've determined how many rooms need to be filled and how many will be offered for this "deal". For those who didn't get it...I would guess you probably will have another chance. ---Kathy

Just wanted to address another issue to the person who didn't get a room booked as there was no accessible room for the preferred resort/dates. Disney didn't violate the ADA if they offered you the chance to choose another resort or travel date and you declined. Of course I don't know the circumstances regarding that poster's situation. I had the same thing happen though but chose a different resort, put down my deposit, and asked to be called if a roll in shower room became available later at the resort I actually wanted to book. Disney cannot be responsible if other guests have already booked an accessible room and it's no longer available- they can only offer you another resort or dates. You can always modify your dates or room later when you get home which is an option for any guest, based on availability. This would be the same if a room type wasn't available, such as a standard view at WL. A guest has the chance to book another room type and then wait to see if a standard room becomes available or choose another resort or travel dates to get what you want or need.---Kathy

I actually wanted to stay to begin on Sept. 28, but the cm couldn't book it for that start date. So I asked her if she could book it starting Sept. 27, she tried and said "Yep, it's taking that date as a start date". I can't tell you how happy I was.
I think I'd call back just to see if you could change your dates, if the latter part of the month suits your needs better. I know I would.

We actually were able to book the Bounceback Promo once we were home from WDW. We were at Pop Century from 9/7 to 9/15. We were able to book the Bounceback Promo on 9/19. They didn't say anything about us not still being at WDW so I am thinking we got lucky and they didn't check if we were still there or not. But we are now booked for 9/12-9/20 at All Star Movies in 2008 with Free Dining.
We tried to book while still at WDW but there was no way to pay the deposit in cash so I needed to deposit the $$ in my bank account instead and that couldn't happen until after we were home. We did receive 2 different paper talking about the Bounceback promo in our room. My parents are currently at ASMovies now and they didn't have anything about the Promo on their room. My Mom hasn't noticed anything on the resort TV yet either. :confused3
I really want to move up to a Mod this trip (we have done Values and mostly Pop Century for years now) but I just hate to spend $600+ more! LOL For that, we could do 16 days at a Value instead!! Haven't convinced my DH into that one though. LOL :wizard:

We were able to get the bounce back once we got home as well. We'll be back at the CSR September 1 - 9 in 2008 (we decided to stick with a moderate...and love the CSR...rather than putting out the extra money for a deluxe).

I'm confused-does the $200 deposit have to be cash? Can't I put it on my credit card?
We are checking in tomorrow and plan to book the BB offer right away :thumbsup2 Talk about cutting it close! The last day to book it.

Nope, it has to be paid for by a credit card! I had originally brought cash down with me because my DH got his paycheck the day before we left and I never got to my bank to deposit it in time. The only card that I use is my credit/debit card through my bank so when we tried to book the Promo while at WDW, we were unable to because they were unable to take cash as a deposit instead. Luckily we had no problems booking once home after I had a chance to put the $200 in the bank ASAP. LOL :wizard:

Good. I carry very small amounts of cash on me. I am a debit card abuser :lmao:

We were at POFQ 9/3-9/8 and we had the flyer in our room. We tried calling from the room on our last day and couldn't get through, but were able to call later in the day to book it. I tried calling back last week to make a change to the ressie and tried calling the main reservations number and they were not able to make any changes to my ressie. They gave me a separate number to call and said they were dealing with the BB ressies. Maybe you can call that number and try to see if you can book now.
Hi, I need to make some changes to my bounceback program, can you give me the phone number you have mentioned, please? Thanks, Vero.

I too would love the number to call and make some changes skw444. I had called the main number twice on Thursday to extend our ressie for a day. I was told that it was all confirmed and when I checked online this morning the added day wasn't there. So, I called this afternoon to make the change once again, they didn't have any availablity. I am so upset right now I could cry. But, I was told to just keep calling. So I will. I don't know what to do. :confused3

Okay we are here now and did not receive any flyer nor was it on our resort tv, I just assumed it would be offered at check out, so I am going to have to call tomorrow before we leave but that may be to late and that would be unfair that they offered it to some guests and not others :( I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I'm sorry you didn't see any mention of it at the resort - I don't believe I've read any posts where it was offered at check-out; it's something that the guest had to call about. It's probably not on resort TV now since the last day to book was Sept. 28. The flyer we received said you had to book on or prior to Sept. 28, 2007 - before checking out (I booked ours as soon as I walked in the door to our room).
Did you not have the extension (8844) that I and others posted to call? You didn't have to have the actual letter or flyer - I'm just wondering since many of us tried to publicize this and the terms of booking for the past few weeks so that as many DISers as possible could book this. From your post, it looks like you knew about the promotion before getting there. :confused3
Like any marketing, companies promote their discounts in various ways, and they did have it on resort TV (many have seen it), resort restaurant receipts and flyers/letters in many rooms.
I would call immediately. Not sure if they'll be able to help you, but it's worth a shot. Good luck! :wizard:

We were at ASMo Sept 21 - Sept. 27. We did not have the flyer in our room but thanks to the DIS boards I knew about it.
The resort channel on the TV did say that if you booked a vacation before you checked out you would get a special deal but didn't say what the special deal was.
I waited until the day we checked out to call and book and almost missed out on the free dining deal because the computers were down. I told the cm that we would be checking out shortly and I didn't want to miss out on the deal and she suggested I call from home once I got home that night.
I called right back after hanging up and got a different cm who also said the computers were down and suggested calling back in an hour. We went and ate breakfast and when we got back to our room I called again and the computers were working and I was able to book with free dining for Sept 26 - Oct. 2nd of next year.
If you dial 8844 from your resort telephone you get an automated message that says you can only book using this number if you are booking a future stay and are currently checked into your room.
Even though the promo has officially expired I would try dialing 8844 from your resort and see if they have any special future stay offers.

Hi! We stayed at SSR. It was our first ever trip. We had no letter/brochure in room nor in the welcome folder they give you. We found out a week after returning home, from someone that had stayed at Pop Century. We were upset that it was not offered to us. I called and spoke with a rep who tried to book it but could not, she gave me to someone higher up that said it could not be booked now, I emailed two different areas in regards to this situation... had no reply from one and standard "this offer must be booked from your resort" reply. Everyone keeps saying that we had to do it while there... which is impossible because we did not know it existed. We had origionally book AS Music but got a free upgrade (still in May I believe) to SSR. We are wondering if it was not offered to those of us there under that special promotion? We paid $89.00 a night for the room for two adults and one child and received free dining. That was an excellent deal, ecspecially when invited to upgrade free to SSR! We had stayed 10 days/9 nights. We were going to stay and extra night (we decided the day we were due to checkout) however when we called, just our room and no dining of course, was over $300.00! We left! We wish we would have known about the bounce-back, we would have gladly booked and paid on the spot, even if they told us it would have to mean staying at an Value Resort!
