We were wondering who else would be joining us on our first ever cruise..the excitement is running very high around our house and we still have over 2 months to wait, but that doesn't seem too bad since we booked over a year ago.We will be celebrating birthdays for 2 of our children on the ship-DD4 and DS11 and also cruising will be DS12,Hubby and the most excited of all me!
Anyone else for April 27??:D :D :D :D :D

We will be on the April 27 Magic to celebrate our anniversary. We were scheduled to go on a cruise for our honeymoon, but at the last minute it got cancelled, so I have been waiting seven years for this!!! It will be myself, DH, and DS- 3 years old. I can't wait.

We will be on the April 27 Magic cruise! DH, me, DD7, DS5 (almost 6 at time of cruise), and DS (15 months). And we are bringing our live in sitter because she is from Latvia, here only 1 yere, and I wanted her to be able to experience the wonderful cruise! Yes it's costing me quite a bit because not only am I paying for a second room for her, but I have to pay full adult price for one of the kids!
It's our 6th cruise, but only 2nd on Disney. We went almost 3 years ago on the 4 day land/3 day sea on the Magic. It was really great, and I have the most wonderful pictures from that vacation. You guys are going to LOVE Castaway Cay.
Hope there are more going on 4/27/02!!!

This is the first time I'm taking the kids out of school, and I see that you all have school age kids too. What are you going to say to the teachers/principal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (We can meet on board and discuss how it went!!)
Counting down the days till 4/27!

It's great to see more April 27 cruisers!
Mom23chicklets-I actually don't have to worry about the kids missing school as mine are on a three week break, however,I would not hesitate to pull them out of elementary school for the cruise. It's a great life experience that they sure can't get in a classroom, maybe your kids could keep a little journal/scrapbook to share with their class when they get home.If I were their teacher, all I would require is that you buy an Xlarge suitcase for me to stow-a-way in;)
Kritters4-We should introduce our DS's and my boys have expressed an interest in meeting your DD as well:o My DS12 will try to sign up for Common Grounds,he's always enjoyed kids a bit older, but I'm sure he'll have a great time wherever he ends up
Bunny- Happy anniversary,I imagine our 3yr olds will have some fun together in the kids club:)
Have you guys decided on your excursions yet?I know we can book those pretty soon here and I'm still deciding,DS12 and I think the 12 Metre Regatta sounds great,as does the Golden Eagle Catamaran Hmmm decisions decisions. In St. Thomas we will probably rent a car and tour St. John on our own. I'm so glad we no longer have to wake up so early and do immigration first thing in St. Thomas Wow and we can now get the girls hair braided right on the ship too! The news just keeps getting better and we still have 73 days left before we go(but who's counting;) )
Well let's hope that the April 27 cruise will truly be magical for all of us:D

This looks like a good thread to me to keep rolling for all of the April 27th Magic cruisers.
I apologize for repeating myself, but ..... My family is myself (Bob 38), DW (Courtney 37), DS (Christian 9, he will be 10 a month after the cruise, so I think he'll get along well with the other boys in this thread), DD (Alyssa 7).
WE can't wait. Anyone doing the Golden Eagle?

We are going on the April 27th Magic (DH, DS/almost 5, and me.) It will be our first Disney cruise. Last August we were on the Carnival Triumph. My son loved the kids' program there, so I know we will probably never see him on the Disney cruise. These message boards are great!

Looks like we have 6 excited families on our cruise list so far
-Bud624-We almost booked the Golden Eagle Catamaran,I've heard it's great! We ended up deciding on the 12 Metre Regatta because this was an opportunity we won't get anywhere else.Bet we'll both have a blast!Maybe we can compare notes afterwards.
I am hoping to maybe do the Western Caribbean next year and do a catamaran excursion then:D

Hey Tony3331! We are fellow New Yorkers too and going on the 4/27 cruise! Good luck with the drive. I considered it but decided to bag the idea because of 2 reasons. 1) we have a 16 month old, and 2) I'm already taking my older 2 out of school for a week, couldn't live with the guilt of extending that to more time! As it is, I'm not quite sure what to say to the teachers but I'm meeting with them on 3/15.

Hello Everyone !
We also will be on the Magic on 4/27. We are traveling in a group of five families with ages ranging from 4 to 52. This is the first cruise for most of us so the excitement is running high to say the very least especially as the big day draws nearer. I am so thankful that a friend referred me to these message boards. The only bad thing about them is that they are so addicting!! Look forward to seeing you all. ;)

I am working on organizing DIS meets and sailaway party celebration for the April 20th cruise. We have ordered green leis to wear to recognize each other at the port and during the sailaway onboard. They were very inexpensive and are running around $22 including the shipping for 100 of them.
I also found a website where I can order lanyards with attached hooks and holders for the KTTWC's. They sent me a sample and they look very nice. I have ordered the minimum of 100. I don't think our group would use 100 of these, and I was wondering if your group would be interested in some also? Including shipping, I could get these for around $2 a piece which includes the lanyard with hook and card case. I was thinking that we would use them for our KTTWC's as well as our identification PLUS I would print out a card to place in the front of the case with the DIS username! (The inserts turned out really nice -- email me if you'd like to see a copy of it). The Lanyards that I ordered are 5/8'' Black Lanyards with swivel hook and card case. The inserts are in the 'ship colors' Black, Red, and Blue so the black lanyards will look really nice with the insert. A great way to recongnize fellow DIS cruisers throughout the trip. I am NOT looking to make any money on these ---- just to cover the cost of the extra's that I had to order. I will likely have around 50 leftover.
If your group would be interested in such a thing, please have the 'organizer' drop me an email so we can discuss this further.
Thanks!

I just noticed a post from Michellendean who is cruising the same time. We'll have to get her to sign onto the thread. If anyone is going to coordinate lanyards from Wovenwonder, I'd be interested in 12 for the three families I'm traveling with.
By the way, thanks Wovenwonder, for your contributions to the boards and your offer for our cruise group.

Just wanted all of my fellow cruisers to know I got one of those $50 post cards from a friend and all I had to do was call DCL and give them the code from it and she credited my on board account $50!! I've been told that your Travel Agent can do the same if she has the code and calls DCL if you booked thru one. It has to be for a first time cruise only. If anyone is intrested let me know and I'll give out the code!! Can't hurt to try!!:D :D

Bud, Just call the 1-800 number for DCL. Sorry I don't have it here right now, it you need it let me know. All you have to do is give your reservation # and they will let you know if the $50 has been credited. The code on the postcard is REF. If you haven't been credited yet ask for that code and you shouldn't have a problem as long as you are a first time cruiser!! Let me know how you make out!
tony3331
04-01-2002, 04:56 PM
i also called and told them about the ref code and i was given the 50.00 credit but i have to say she was not happy about giving it to me without the post card i was told that it was very inapropriate to ask for it but gave it to me anyway this is also our first cruise:confused:

I was shot down when I called about the $50 onboard credit. They said it was due to the fact that I had the Spring Time Special and that I did not qualify for both. The operator (rather indignantly) said I could get the credit, but she would have to raise the price on my package.

What is the "trip to Kennedy Space Center"? Is it some kind of Kennedy Space Center tour done as a Disney excursion when you get back?
bud624
04-08-2002, 03:26 PM
Our travel agent told us that it is offered on the ship for people who may have later flights. I think DCL just provides transportation and baggage transfers. I don't think its the typical Disney run trip or excursion. But I think my kids DS9 and DD7 will enjoy it.

We're sailing too on 4/27! Two kids DS (5) and DD (2-1/2). We're wait listed for main dining; I'm worried about the late dinner for my small kiddos. I tried a few times to change it at DCL and they told me that travel agent needs to call. She did, and they said that they would fax her if we got on main dining. Anyone want to trade? Ha! One DCL res. agent actuallly told me that people bring blankets for their kids to fall asleep on the floor (second seating) while they eat dinner. Could hardly believe that -- sounds like we'll be missing some dinners.

We are also cruising on the 4/27 Magic and also have late seating. Our ds is a little over 3.... We are waitlisted for early seating but I'm not sure if we will be able to get the early seating... There was a post a while ago with the pro's and con's of early/late seating.... From that post, I won't be terribly disappointed if we keep the late seating because other parents wrote that it was good to be able to see the early shows and then have dinner.... Someone also wrote that the late seating sometimes works better if you are trying to keep your kids on your time-zone schedule (we are from the central time zone so eating at 8:30 is really like eating at 7:30 - not so bad) and I think we might jump forward an hour in St. Martin and St. Thomas (?)....
Our family is really looking forward to our cruise - counting the days.......

Our kids will be snoring together!
We also have a 2 year old and have the late seating on the same cruise 4/27! The only thing I thought would be good about the late seating was the kids will be awake for the earlier show. I figured I would take her to eat around 5ish ...then see the show, then play dinner by ear..unless we end up packing it up and eating in our room! I hope she'll hold out.
But I'm kinda going with NO expectations..(like believing she won't stay alone at Flounders)..but maybe we'll get lucky and with all the other kids around they'll be entertained??? Good luck! and see ya!

Michelle, Dean, and Emily!
Thanks for your messages. The thread was very helpful to me, because due to the time change (we are Mountain Standard Time) that I hadn't considered, the later dinner might work for us. Plus, I hadn't considered the shows either. It might be to our benefit to try it out for a couple of days and then request a change if it doesn't seem to be working. It was good hear that DCL seems to do their best to accomodate a family's needs either way. I had planned for our family to eat together too - - since I'm not counting on Flounder's reservations (from what I've read they can be difficult to get on all your requested times). Hopefully we'll meet you on the cruise!

I can't believe it we had to get another suitcase. I thought we were packing light. I think we still packed too much.
The kids are getting excited too. The only problem is it means they don't sleep well and get up early. Now is when I want them to get some extra sleep.

I wouldn't worry about packing too much....it happens and you don't really have to schlep the bags much!
HOPING FOR FABULOUS WEATHER!!!

I thought it was very nice...not as great as I expected, the service was only so/so..everytime I ordered room service SOMETHING was missing...very crowded..no seats at the pools...the character interaction was very good..i think they had many oppertunities for photos...I went with a 2 year old so I was not able to do any of the night activities..I'm also pregnant so I was too tired to do them anyway!
In my opinion (someone who was not interested in shopping for jewlery, booze or perfume) they can keep st. Maartin, and St. Thomas..for those traveling with small kids the easiet was by far, Castaway Cay...no dealing with taxi's, where to go for lunch..I would rather have just spent the days there and have them just sail in circles during the night (I guess the island is so bug infested after the sun goes down you can't even be docked there without the ship being effected)
I also got pretty sea sick until we hit St. Maartin...the first night was the worst so I guess I won't be cruising again! But I really did enjoy Castaway Cay, my verandah, and the time with my family at the beaches in St. martin, thomas...albeit a pain in the butt to schlep my two year old, stroller, camera equiptment etc...but that's traveling with kids!!
I should have a travel report up soon! I'll let this thread know when I get our pictures up.
Thanks for asking!!
