My family just returned yesterday from a week at WDW. We stayed at POP with free dining and had a great time. On Sunday 9/16 we enjoyed our first time eating at Coral Reef and were pleasantly surprised to find they had just added Alaskan king crab legs to the menu that day. (according to our server) As a seafood lover of course i had to order it. The serving size was very good and they were delicious. Check out the picture i took. http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/7844/dscf0738nd5.jpg
I will try to post more about our trip later on when i find time. Just wanted to pass on this information.

Mmm...we ate at Coral Reef on 9/7 and they didn't have that on the menu. If they did, I probably would've gotten that. They look so good! Thanks for sharing!

Has anyone else been able to order crab legs? I was going to cancel our ADR's for next week but if they have crab legs - I'm going!

Must be that dumbing down of the menu due to DDP again. :rotfl:That was my thought too, LOL. This just proves that free dining has nothing to do with the menu changes.

I ate there last night and ordered the Alaskan King Crab Legs. It was an entree and was included in the DDP ($29.99 if not on the DDP, I think...). The size was definitely reasonable for an entree portion.
On another note, I must say that overall the Coral Reef was the worst TS Dining that we experienced during out stay though. The wait was an additional 45 mins after our reservation time, or waiter was so bad that we though he must of been a trainee (we later found out he was a veteran), and the service was SOOO Slow (ressies at 6pm and we didn't leave until 8:45). Unfortunately the only food items that our group enjoyed were the Lobster Bisque , the Lava Cake, and the kids ice cream sundae (sorry, but I didn't care for the Crab Legs, but I am a bit of a food snob). After that, the only bright spot for our meal was the great views of the fish. I'm sorry to be a downer, but I had to vent a little.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience at Coral Reef. I guess with any restaurant it can be hit or miss whether or not you get good service. The night we went it was very crowded and the CM told us they were running a bit behind. We were seated about 10 mins after our ADR time.(no big deal to us) Our server(Amy) was very friendly and our service was fast.(We were in and out in about 1 hour) DW and i enjoyed the Sea and Land appetizer. DS ate all his Chilled Shrimp appetizer. I thought the Crab legs were very good. DW really liked the Grilled Mahi Mahi. DS had the Shrimp Pasta but mainly just picked out and ate the Shrimp.(He's a picky eater) We all had The Chocolate Wave for dessert and thought it was delicious. The second best dessert i had all week next to the Almond Crusted Cheesecake at Narcoosee's.(YUM)

oh yeah. i forgot to mention that the Crab Legs and sliced in half (probably with a kitchen band saw), so you don't even have to really work at getting them crab out of the legs. That part was excellent! I hate the legwork involved in getting all of the meat out of the crab, but when it's sliced like this - it makes it SO easy!

being from alaska i am glad to see this. i hate to tell you but i dont see the king crab legs staying on the menu for long. the reason i say this is the season for crabbing is short. unless they are buying frozen in advanced.
king crab is an aquired taste. heck i live here and practically live off crab. i would rather have dungeness than king.
i hope you all enjoy it!
