We'll be on the Wonder for the April 17 cruise. It's my DSO's first cruise and my first Disney cruise and we're very excited. The anticipation will help get us through another upstate NY winter.

We'll be at DW the first part of the week!

We're trying to enjoy all of the anticipation before our trip because I know it will go by quickly. We will also be at WDW earlier in the week. It seemed to make sense to do The World and end the week with a more relaxing experience on the ship. In the meanwhile these boards are great!

I'm so excited to see other families are on this cruise, I thought we'd be cruising alone. We surprised our 11 yr old twins with a treasure hunt on New Years Day, to say they were excited just doesn't come close. I had the most fun though, getting to make the map and plant the clues. My daughter later said "the treasure hunt was awsome", my son said "Mom you rock" and that made it all worth the effort. :lovestruc I love being a Mom and helping make those happy childhood memories. Almost everyday I hear one of the kids say "I can't wait 'til April." For now we pop in the Disney Cruise Line DVD and dream of happy days to come. We already planned to do parasailing, snorkeling and the watercraft ecotours on CC. I think we'll do the Atlantis Aquaventure on our own. I booked a day room at Comfort Suites which gives you full access to Atlantis water parks, and saves us several hundred dollars. We just have to make sure we don't miss the boat :scared1: I'm looking forward to having some adult fun time with DH in the lounges. We'll be on deck 7 and welcome a cocktail with any other disboarders.
See you on the Wonder, Happy dreams 'til then!

Hi seena209,
We're newbie cruisers too, but I've been getting a lot of good tips on these boards. Right now I think we're just going to do the Discover Atlantis excursion. Between that and a quick stroll around town our day in Nassau will be covered. We're really looking forward to beach time on Castaway Cay.
We'll be on deck 6.
The new Passporter will also sbe a godd source of info (when it comes out). In the meanwhile enjoy your planning and dreaming about the trip!

Today is 75 days until our cruise. I got online and easily booked a dinner reservation for Palo's. There were plenty of openings in case anyone else is interested in making a reservation.

Anyone with kids deciding to authorize charging privileges? My main concern my DD's lose the card and fail to notify us while another guest racks up the bill.

Hi Seena,
I did the online check-in and did give my almost 12 year old twins charging privledges. Now I'm having nightmares :scared1: so when we board I will put a max charge limit on their keys. We did discuss the privledge and they're are good about not abusing our trust, but like you said what if they lose them! My families mantra these days is... I can't wait 'til April!!!!
What excursions did your family sign up for? My DD and I are signed up for parasailing at Castaway Cay. Are you guys dressing up for pirate night? It sounds like lots of fun I think we're doing a minimal dress up, the kids love Pirates of the Caribbean. Take care see ya in April.:woohoo:

A great tip for newbees....at least one that I got when I was one.... If you've been to Nassau (or even if you haven;t)...stay on the ship that day! Three days is almost not enough to take in everything that the ship has to offer. Plus the ship empties out so it's like you have it almost to yourself. My wife and I booked a couples massage for the day that we're there. We were thinking about going to Atlantis, but heard you are very limited in where you can go...even on a tour. However, as someone mentioned earlier, booking a room at the comfort suites will allow you to get a pass to use all the ameneties at Atlantis.

My kids can't wait!! Neither can we!

As of today the only excusion we booked was Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure. We will attempt to to dress up for pirate night, assuming we can fit the outfits in our bags.

We are still debating what to do while in Nassau.

What is everyone wearing for dinner, do we have to dress up :confused3 ? I don't want to be out of place undressed or over dressed.

There is supposed to be one 'formal' night for dinner. But the last time we went, I didn't end up bringing anything but casual wear. Figured we'd just do the buffet on the formal night. However, I asked the servers and they said that as long as we were dressed appropriately(I would say that means business casual), there would be no problem. And there wasn't. Some people dressed to the nines, others were in khakis/poloshirts, etc.

Hi All,
Just booked the 4/17 cruise last week. Couldn't resist the great FL resident deals!

We did go to Atlantis last time, I think it was $129/nite. I am having a hard time paying more than that this time, so I think we'll just stay onboard while in Nassau. It is just DS (9) and Mom this cruise. I would like to take him to the Pirate Museum but am a little nervous about walking around Nassau just the two of us.

There were some people VERY dressed up last cruise (August '07) but most of them were also having formal photos taken. We wore business casual clothing and we were fine. In fact our tablemates wore jeans, shorts, and t-shirts to all of the dinners. They didn't know ANYTHING about the cruise before they got on board the ship. They didn't even know they would have assigned dinner times!:confused3 I guess they didn't use a reliable TA!

Anyhow, has anyone set up a little meet?

Silver Queen: Where abouts are you from? We live near Oswego, NY right on the southside of Lake Ontario. We are using our FL home address (Vero Beach) for this trip because I took advantage of the FL discounts.

Alexander,
We are in the Albany area, but I grew up in central NY, in Rome, and my cousin went to Oswego. I haven't heard anything about a meet. It doesn't seem like there are many Dissers on this cruise. This will be the first Disney cruise for us and we're really looking forward to it.
We've booked the Discover Altantis tour for the Nassau day. We plan to walk around town in the morning and go on the 1:30 tour. Fifteen years ago we went on a RCCL cruise to the Bahamas. At that time I felt comfotable walking around with my DS who was 14. It may be a little different now.

Hi Guys,
I'm so happy to see our thread has progressed to 2 pages! Concerning the dress code my family Me, DH and Dtwins (boy & girl) 11 years will be pretty casual. Khaki's and polo shirts with one dress up night for Palo. Being the adventurous types we're renting a CS room for the day to take advantage of Atlantis. Praying the weather cooperates for us. CC we've booked an eco watercraft tour for DH & DS, and a parasailing for Me and DD. Still thinking about the cabana massage for the morning after Atlantis. DH and I could probably use a muscle relaxer after keeping up with DTWS at Atlantis. I'm glad we're going onto Orlando for the week following because we'll need a vacation after our vacation. :lmao: Is anyone planning on dressing up on Pirate Night? We love costume parties and are planning to dress up for family photos. I feel after the vacation is over the only tangible remembrance are the photos we took and it's so much fun to look at them years later.
It would be fun to meet other Dissers onboard and share experiences. Are you thinking a family meet or just grownups?

We've only got about a month to go now! It can't come fast enough. So far, we have not booked any excusions. We're going to do a couples massage in the Spa while docked in Nassau and sending the kids to the Club. Then maybe relax by the pool for a while. In CC, we're planning on snorkeling, then just general relaxation on the beach. We'll be at Disney the few days before...so we're going to need to relax after that. For pirate night, we may dress up. Depends on how much room we have left in the bags after we pack! They give out pirate bandana's to everyone...so at the very least...we'll be wearing that. We're attending the Pirates and Princesses' party in the MK on the 11th...so we may bring costumes for that as well!

Hello all,

Another upstate New Yorker hopping on this cruise. I just booked yesterday, and I can't wait! Only problem is that Palo is booked online, so fingers crossed!

Izegarelli-

I, too, was fearful of giving my (then) 12 y.o. DS charging privileges, but he had them on the cruise, and was so responsible (!) that I let him have privileges when we got to WDW, too!

As this is our first cruise I would like to enjoy every minute, without getting sea sick. Can someone that has cruised before recommend an over the counter solution for adults and kids?

A meet would be fun. Send me the details!:thumbsup2

We are really getting excited now! I hope that the weather gods will be kind to us. We haven't received our documents yet and I hope that they don't come at the last minute because we'll be at WDW for several days before the cruise. Also, our AAA TA was transferred to an office in a different city so she'll have to forward the documents to us when she gets them. In addition to our Atlantis excursion we also have Palo's reserations for the last night's dinner. I guess that we should all enjoy these last few weeks of anticipation becasue it will be over before you know it. Safe travels to Port Canaveral everyone! If a meet does get planned we'd be up for meeting everyone.

My wife takes Bonine for sea sickness...Dramamine tends to make her very sleepy...but the Bonine isn't as bad. I don't get seasick and neither do our kids....so I can't suggest anything for the kids. I do see a lot of people wearing patches or armbands...but I'm not sure where you get those.

Thanks for the update I will check our local pharmacy for some Bonnie. Just in case I will consult the kids pediatrician for some motion sickness pills.

We received our cruise packet last week, the kids are really excited :cheer2: . After the cruise we are staying at Animal Kingdom for a week :woohoo: .

Are you planning on decorating your state room door? The kids are searching the internet for something fun to put on the door.

We are actually at Disney the week before the cruise...Boardwalk....and then at Saratoga Springs the Sunday we get back for just that day. Then back home to RI.

Yes...we will try and decorate....I have an image of mouse ears that fit perfectly over the 'porthole' in the stateroom door! You can print them on magnetic forms on your home printer. Let me know if interested...I can send you the file.

Enjoy Animal Kingdom Lodge! DS and I stayed there a couple of summers ago and loved it. I've got a cheshire cat door magnet, but it's no where near as creative as the magnets I've seen disers do! The mouse ears sound like fun.

You Only Live Once! Well, I've packed , unpacked and repacked and we're ready to go! Darling Pug knows something's up with the suitcases and won't leave my side for a moment. That's the only hard part of going away, leaving my third child behind. :rotfl: There will be **** to pay when we get back. She's always moody when we return from a trip. DD and I made door magnets and bought our mats for character signing plus candy for CM's. The only thing left is to get to bank and withdraw $ for tip envelopes. Waiting in lines is a waste of vacation time so any preplanning is a good thing. I read that you can preregister in port for the kids beepers and save time on the ship, so I think that's what we'll do. Kids are counting down the days and internet searching about Atlantis. I hope the weather is kind to us on the cruise. We'll be staying at the Radisson the night before so boarding shouldn't be too bad. I can't wait to hear that sail away horn with a bahama mama in hand! :woohoo:
DS & DH don't do crowds so we'll be on deck 10 for the sail away party. I'm sure I'll see you doing the happy dance on board.
