Hi everyone!

I'm looking for help with a class project for school.

My first cluster in grade 6 Social Studies is Unique Canada and Canadian Identity and Values. Because the curriculum is brand new this year, we are scrambling a bit for resources - and of course, our division's computer network was upgraded this summer - and it's not done yet - they're projecting not until the middle of October so no Internet either!

What I am wanting is postcards from across Canada just giving a little bit of what is unique from your city/town/area. Like 3 or 4 lines in jot note form.

I'm thinking along the lines of famous people that come from there, any interesting or important events that may have happened there, any local sayings or words, local food specialties, anything the area is famous for, etc.

I'd love for anyone to help - even if you don't think there is anything interesting about your city/area - trust me - it will be interesting to us! :)

We're going to create a wall sized map, and add in information from everywhere we get it.

Please PM me for my school's name and address!

If you have friends or family in Yukon, NWT, Nunuvut or Quebec (or anywhere else really) that you think might like to help too - please feel free to pass along my information to them - I think those are going to the the hard ones to get!

Thanks so much to anyone who can help us out!:goodvibes

I'll look for some postcards for you from here. There are a few words that are considered as mostly only used by Islanders (Or so say some of my of my friends "from away"). One is "slippy" instead of slippery. We say the roads are really slippy today, not slippery. If I think of any others, I'll let you know.

I know how hard a new curriculum can be! (It's my first year teaching grade
3, and it's the first year for our new math curriculum.... no fun!)
