Not to be a wet blanket (and we're going in 30 days), but this destruction of the most widely held reserve currency in the world is, or is going to be a bad thing for Canada.

Happy dance over here (and not just because we leave in a week and have DCL to pay for in mid October). For my business, this means better prices for the consumer!

that title is still held by the UK pound - or perhaps these days it's the Euro... The last time the CDN$ was at par with the US$, our economy was doing pretty well if memory serves (of course, I could certainly be wrong - it's happened occasionally LOL).
Personally, I'm pleased because we will be paying for our airfare to WDW as soon as we see a great fare - it's easier to stomache paying in US$ at these rates kwim? It also means that I may be able to actually order stuff for Christmas from the Disney Store - which I've never been able to do before

I'm thinking of paying off my bounceback trip that I just booked at the end of the week because of the dollar. Does anyone know if I would still be fully refunded if I cancel within the 45 days?

According to wikipedia (http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reserve_currency) (which could also certainly be wrong) and the IMF (http://www.imf.org/external/np/sta/cofer/eng/cofer.pdf), it's still the US dollar with the Euro second.
The problem as I see it isn't so much the strength of our economy, (commodity prices and oil account for a lot of the recent gains in the loonie), it's that the US currency is devaluing so rapidly. Which means that our currency reserve is also being signficantly impacted, and not in a good way.

I saw that too! They have always given a terrible exchange rate, I use my paypal atm/debit card to pay Disney off that way I don't have to exchange it and then pay my CC rates. So if you need to buy something from the states using paypal is the best way to do it.
